Lana had found herself dreading the upcoming ball, for two reasons and two reasons only. Number one, she knew instantly the foreign students would be just as dreadful as the ones here. As for the second reason, formal parties and trying to prove herself to others certainly wasn't her thing.

There was chill upon the grounds today, a distinct feeling of fear brushing upon those who neared her.
Maybe it was because she was angry, angrier than usual; Or perhaps it was the fact that she was always like this, the frightening aura following wherever she went. She didn't mind it though, even if it pushed others away. She'd rather them be at a safe distance than close to her.

Currently, she sat by a large tree, her hands fidgeting with the silver clasps on her cloak. As boring as the ball was going to be, going alone would just seem to make it ten times worse? What would she do, just stand there quietly while others carried on and enjoyed herself? She grimaced at the thought, finding a certain distaste for people having a nice time. They deserved to be sad, every single one of them.

She groaned loudly, her head hitting the back of the hard trunk. It was certainly going to be an experience. Maybe she could do something.. Light something on fire. The Blossom Ball 2.0 had a nice ring to it.

"How splendid."

Jay Victoria was walking around randomly on the school grounds, they felt bored, as usual. They missed the good ol' days in first year when they actually had a friend. She was an eccentric girl, with bright red hair. They looked up at the sky and sighed, thoughts about the fall ball filled their mind. It was only the second day of school, and there were already a lot of people talking about school events such as the field day or the fall ball in October. Last years Masquerade was quite sad, though it resulted in them being quite entertained, it didn't balance out their melancholyness but it was still something...

Their best friend was still gone, they met a pretty girl at the stairs, which resulted in them sending a secret admirer letter to her; inviting her to the masquerade. The girl, named Nico Shymane, didn't show up, so they just depressingly walked around, it had also been their birthday and no-one wished them happy birthday. Jay had then seen a sad red haired girl in a blue dress who called them 'Zorro', they had tried to cheer her up but she suddenly had to go, the mysterious girl gave them a light kiss on the cheek before running off. And ever since then they had constantly thought about her. Over the summer they had even watched the Zorro films, and even though they were muggle films, Jay found them amusing.

Jay had come to a decision after walking endlessly around the grounds, this year they were going to have a date. The question was, who? It wasn't like Jay had much options... or even options at all. They let out a yawn and suddenly got goosebumps, they had felt this before. It was a weird feeling, they wanted to move away but also walk towards the 'aura' at the same time. Jay took a breath and shrugged, they then realized there was a girl leaning against the tree ahead of them. They quickly jogged over to her and peeked their head around the tree trunk, their head above hers, they simply said,

"Boo."

I’m back. Jay or Deplorable ooc. Owls open for threads.

Depsite the voice not being enough to scare her, Lana still turned her head quickly towards their direction. Her eyes softened a bit, though her posture still seemed to be on edge. How did they manage to be everywhere? She looked at the third year quizzically, retruning a slight smile to perhaps ease the tension.

"Don't frighten me like that!" Lana replied dramatically, placing the back of her hand to her forehead as if to faint. She wondered why they'd been out here, as the grounds seemed to be vasty empty today. Though instead of asking, she cocked her head slightly to the left inviting them to sit beside her. She didn't know why she felt comfortable around them, really. Perhaps they'd left an imprint on her in London, maybe that was it. Regardless, she didn't seem to be as hateful as she did around most others.

"Might I ask what you're doing out here on a day like this?" Her real question was why they bothered to approach her in the first place, though it could certainly come off reproachful if not worded correctly. Instead, she awaited both their action and response, wondering if her.. were they even friends really? Sure, they were on a first-name basis somewhat. Both of them had ran into each other a few times.. Though was it enough to classify each other as buddies? Either way, she chose to wait and see if they'd take a seat beside her.
