History:
Melanie lived with her parents in a small town where life was pretty normal - except for the magic part. Her father, Edward, is a wizard - he works at the Ministry of Magic, so magic was always a part of Melanie's life. Her mom, Sophie, is a Muggle and runs a bakery where Melanie often helped out, whipping up treats for the townspeople. Her specialty is all sorts of tarts and cakes, which always turn out delicious. She has an older brother, Oliver, who is two years her senior, inherited magical abilities and attends Hogwarts. In her hometown Melanie has only three friends, Harry, Emily, and Ethan, but they get along great. Her friends have no idea she's a half-blood, and aren't connected to magic in any way, but Melanie's totally fine with that. They hang out at the local café and have movie nights at each other's houses. Melanie loves hanging out with her friends, but there are days when she just wants to be alone and recharge. She goes to the forest, to her favorite and rarely visited clearing. The clearing is covered with light, wildly green grass in summer and spring, leaves and needles from nearby trees in autumn, and snow that crunches with every step in winter. Melanie usually visits the clearing to read, draw, or observe nature in peace and quiet.

First instance of magic:
When Melanie was 5, her brother took her last favorite cookie. The girl started crying, and suddenly the kitchen table lifted into the air and then flew out the window with a bang. When her family recovered from the shock, her father hugged her tight and promised her a whole jar of cookies. For days afterwards, her parents walked around with huge grins on their faces. Now Melanie's curious about her own magic and really hopes she'll be a great witch.
