BACKSTORY

Lusia comes from a large wizarborn family, with three brothers of her own. a grandfather on her mother's side made a huge amount of money curse breaking, and it became a sort of family job, the Duncan name carrying quite a bit of weight in that community. the family was incredible at it, bringing in pleanty of well invested money though the ages, as such the family has quite a large house. a house that they are happy to share with other wizarding families, any family that has at least one wizard in it, is entitled to send thier children to be educated via private tutor at the Duncan estate. see the Duncan family doesnt really care about other's blood statuses, their definition of wizardborn lands on the more liberal definition of what a wizardborn is, as in, as long as both your parents are wizards and you can trace your ancestry though one unbroken line of wizards, you are a wizardborn, even if one parent is a muggleborn. besides its easier to become freinds and fall in love with someone who you dont have to explain your whole world to.

Luisa is an incredibly fun-loving kid with a remarkable knack for finding trouble—though, to be fair, not always on purpose. Most of her ideas are just... ill-advised. Dangerous? Definitely. But she never really saw the harm in any of it. Growing up in a wizarding family meant that injuries were rarely permanent. Fall off the roof? There’s magic for that. Get stung, bitten, or mildly set on fire (much to the distress of their house-elf)? Nothing a quick spell or potion couldn’t fix. And on the rare occasion things got a bit too serious, a visit to St. Mungo’s and a few days of rest had her back on her feet in no time.

Because she was always able to bounce back, Luisa kept pushing—more fun, more chaos, more hair-brained plans. The world never felt particularly dangerous to her, just... exciting. Curious. Worth exploring, even when it bit back.

This attitude didn’t come from nowhere. Luisa has three brothers, one older, two younger none of whom seem to understand the phrase “don’t touch that.” Boys are generally encouraged to be more adventurous, and their reckless behavior is often brushed off. But when her tutors and parents asked Luisa to “act more like a girl,” she saw no reason to let her brothers have all the fun. She raced them on toy broomsticks, snuck into neighbor’s tool sheds to mess with enchanted items, and even tried (multiple times) to sneak off with her parents’ wands. Her brothers liked to pretend they could do magic early—Luisa drew the line there. Everything else? Fair game.

To her, fear just didn’t make sense. The unknown wasn’t scary—it was a puzzle. That trunk might be a portkey. How would she know unless she fiddled with it? If it locked her inside, someone would come for her. And if not? She had lungs for a reason.

That’s not to say she’s never gotten seriously hurt—she’s had her fair share of time at St. Mungo’s after poking the wrong cursed artifact (thanks, curse-breaking parents). But even then, it never felt like too high a price. Curiosity always won out. And honestly? She’d probably do it again and in all honesty her family was glad that what was in the artifact was something so mild. damned thing was a puzzle box, if done wrong would give the user a mild magical sickness, nothing directly dangerous, just enough of a problem to need a healer's assistance. if thats the worst thats ever happened to Luisa, then really what is there to fear in life?

even with this desire for chaos and fun, Luisa did like quite on occasion, hide out in her mother's private areas of the house, learning to braid her hair, do make up and her nails. causing mayhem takes a lot of energy, and it can be exaustion.

every year Luisa would get mostly what one would consider "boy's toys" from most of who she knew, exept her mother, who took care to choose a few things more traditionally feminine for her. she had recived quite a few very appreciated gifts on her eighth bithday, knight shaped dolls with lances riding on horses, a new sports almanach, a pretty new dress from her mother. last but not least a new set of make up, as she was unwrapping the last one, her brother, Markus snatched it out of her hands, Luisa became furious, screaming at him to return it, and as she said that, it flew out of his hands and into the air, hovering for a moment before falling back into her hands

FAMILY MEMBERS/CLOSE dNPCs

Aster Lestborn (Father)

a patient man, who teachers children in his town who are likely to be wizards. typically the children or siblings of wizards in town. not all of them end up being wizards, squibs or only one out of however many kids end up being wizards, as such he takes care to make sure that muggle born children have skills for the muggle world... even if his teaching of those subjects can be clunky, seeing as its second hand from books given/leant from muggle families.
hes overall a very paternal man, with strong fatherly instincts and a kind heart, he tries his best, but the wizarding children in his care do end up with a better educaiton then the muggle children

Martha Duncan (Mother)

a feirce and brave curse breaker who travles a lot for work, she comes home as often as she can, but theres never a garantee she'll be home in any given month. she dotes on her four children as much as she can. she spends what free time she has teaching her children various practical around the house skills, no one is above knowing how to take care of themselves, the house elf could get sick after all then what will you do?
but at the end of the day she only has so much time to even spend with her family, her job keeps her very busy, and is not always able to be at home for them, something she greatly regrets but its a good job one that lets her feed her family and ensure they have a good house, nice clothing and all the things growing children should have

Markus Duncan (Brother)

a mischevious and loud boy, about a year and a half older (12.5 years old) then Luisa herself, between her brothers she spends most of her time with him. he is the one who comes up most of ideas for the Duncan sibling's shenanigans. he is incredibly mischevious and loves getting into trouble. when he left for hogwarts, the other three were devestated, mising the brother they had followed just about anywhere
is also incredibly strong willed and stubborn, if he wants to do something, he will do it, even if it means embarrassing himself to do it, his shear carelessness in what others thought was what made his siblings follow him so directly

Seamus Duncan (Brother)

two years younger then Luisa (9 years old). he is significantly more likely to get into a fight. sure he enjoys sneaking off with an object his family told him not to touch, or nabbing an extra cookie from under Kranks' nose, but of the four of them hes more likely to get into fights with other children, or to make a mess, stomping and screaming. he typically makes a distraction so that his siblings can get into whatever mischief they want to

Leam Duncan (Brother)

four years younger then Luisa (7 years old) a quiet boy, when not with his siblings he prefers to be by himself with his books. even amongst his siblings he does not speak very much, but his family are the only people he speaks in front of outside of answering the bare minimum of answering questions. this does not mean he is not up to getting into mischief, in fact he is the brother sent ahead to sneak around and steal things, when the other three are thought to be too loud to get it done

Kranks (House Elf)

Kranks's family was treated alright even before the updated laws over house elves, having a couple of spare rooms to call their own. most of the furniture was second hand from the family but nothing that another human wouldn't accept in a garage sale, worn out, scuffed, with frayed ends sure, but still perfectly functional. they had some money and were allowed cloth, needles and thread to do with as they would, though were not given clothing until the laws were updated and elves were properly servants
krankes herself is a very kind elf, with a sort of grandmotherly/aunty like attitude towards those who she serves. she knows the children are staling cookies from the kitchen, after all she made them and knows how many cookies there were and how much the jar should weigh, in fact she makes a few more then Aster and Martha ask just to account for tiny hands grabbing at the jar in the middle of the night
she loves the children very much, often affectionatly taking over tucking in and reading to them when thier parents are too busy or too exausted to do that themselves
