Apperance & Personality

All the information below is about his appearance to help you know more about my character through your own character's eyes. You'll find information about how he usually dresses, his quirks, how he acts around other people, his build, etc:

☾ He isn't that fast to trust people but will open up after a while if he feels a connection with the person.

☾ He isn't a fan of purebloods; they seem arrogant towards Half-bloods and Muggles. Ronan's views on purebloods are based not just on their general behaviour but also on his personal experiences with discrimination. These experiences have shaped his views and made him more empathetic towards those who are marginalized in the wizarding world.

☾ Ronan, a distinctive figure at 4'9 inches, may initially appear less imposing than some of his peers at Hogwarts due to his slender build. However, his potential for growth is significant, with the most substantial spurt expected around years 3-4. This unique characteristic hints at a promising future for Ronan, brimming with new experiences and challenges. Despite his potential for growth, Ronan often feels self-conscious about his height, which sometimes affects his confidence and how he presents himself to others.

☾ Despite his pretty skinny build, Ronan is surprisingly athletic. His skill, honed through active participation in sports in his muggle life, playing as a midfielder for Canterbury, has made him more resilient to hardship and sports games from his peers.

☾ He has messy light brown hair and hates getting haircuts, but when he gets a haircut, it is because it grows too long in the back. He always keeps his hair cut to a medium/more extended length.

☾ He tends to be a bit reckless, meaning he doesn't always think before he reacts. This impulsiveness often leads to him getting into trouble, but it also makes him quick to act in dangerous situations. His dress, entirely disorganised with a curled shirt and tie at Hogwarts, is a reflection of his carefree attitude and disregard for rules.

☾ Ronan's voice, often described as boyish and upbeat, is a reflection of his lively personality. It's a voice that can light up a room, unless a different mood is specifically described.

☾ He has a restless energy, as he doesn't always know where to place himself in social situations. Ronan tends to talk a lot, and he is often up to mischief if he can get away with it. He'll even sometimes try to convince other people to join him in his mischief-making around the school.

☾ He has a sweet tooth for Jelly Beans and chocolate frogs. He is swamped trying to complete his collection, as he and his father usually talk about chocolate cards.

History

As the third child of Matthew and Angelina Ward, Ronan was born in Canterbury, England. Growing up, he mostly spend time with his neighbours children playing games like marbles and football. As his older siblings were in their first year at Hogwarts when he was born. In general Ronan grew up not lacking anything in particular, although some years were better than others. School supplies weren't cheap and neither was his homeschool teacher Mr. Herbert. Ronan had a hard time growing up as a Half-blood as he didn't quite know where he belongs as he is split between two worlds. Ronan also had trouble keeping up with all of Mr.Herbert's lessons and lectures, as he was more focused on sports and competitive activities with a mind always racing straight ahead at full speed. Read below to learn more about Ronan's life prior too Hogwarts:

Born to Matthew and Angelina Ward, he was the youngest of the sibling pair. He grew up in a medium two story house in Northgate. His older siblings Patrick and Tess were attending Hogwarts in their first year when Ronan was born. Ronan always looked up to Patrick and Tess. Patrick would tell him stories about his latest Quidditch match, as Patrick had a lot of success in the sport. Tess on the other hand would usually sit and talk about magic with him. Patrick's thrilling Quidditch tales sparked Ronan's passion for the sport, motivating him to join a Quidditch team one day. Tess's magical discussions, meanwhile, nurtured his curiosity about spells and magical creatures, leading him to eagerly anticipate his own Hogwarts letter.

Together, their influences have shaped Ronan's diverse interests and aspirations. Patrick's adventurous spirit and competitive nature instilled determination and resilience in Ronan. Tess's thoughtful and inquisitive demeanor, on the other hand, encouraged Ronan to be curious and open-minded. Ronan had a healthy relationship with his older siblings. However, it wasn't always easy growing up in Canterbury, as he could never talk about what his father and older siblings did. He would always have to lie and tell them that his father worked abroad, and that his siblings were away at boarding school.

The family lived decent, although they didn't earn enough to take on that many vaccations, as they were a family of five. Instead, they would spend their well earned money traveling to Scotland or seeing a Quidditch match together as a family. Their father Matthew who was a Half-Blood worked in The Department For The Regulation And Control Of Magical Creatures. This meant he was usually away on long trips, inspecting and managing magical creature habitats across the globe via broomstick or floo powder. His mother on the other hand was a muggle who worked at a local school in Canterbury.

Growing up Ronan was homeschooled by Mr. Herbert, and would often find homeschooling challenging due to the lack of interaction with peers his age. While Mr. Herbert was knowledgeable, his strict teaching methods left not much room for creativity or exploration. Additionally, Ronan sometimes felt isolated, missing out on social experiences and friendships with attending a traditional school which reflected on his low grades.

Ronan would usually spend his free time playing marbles and football with his neighbours Dean and Oliver. They were around his age and were also his best friends in the muggle world. Together they would explore the streets around their home, pulling pranks on people around their block. As Ronan excelled better at football than school, as he was quick on his feet’s. One day everything changed the day Nemo, the family Owl, arrived with his letter from Hogwarts. His carefree life would now be put to the test by homework from Hogwarts Professors.
First Instance of Magic

Ronan first instance of magic happend quite late, when he was about nine years old, as his hair had suddenly grown out overnight, a full story can be read below:

The door opened, and Ronan's mother looked at him with a strict, worried expression in her eyes. His hair was now long and girly, magically grown through the night and quite frankly making him look like a girl to his mother's eyes. A flush rose to Ronan's face at the embarrassment that met his mother's gaze. Her concern and condemnation weighed on him like a boulder, and he shuffled uncomfortably. He didn't know what to say, so he nodded and followed her into the hairdresser. ''I didn't do anything,'' he said, mumbling so his mother wouldn't hear him, as the door closed behind them as they walked in. The salon was filled with hairdryers and the murmurs of customers' quiet chatter. Inside, he was hit with hairspray and shampoo, mixed in with the fresh aroma of coffee from some small machine in the corner. Busy all around him, Ronan nevertheless felt an overwhelming sense of isolation as he sat down and waited his turn.

The hairdresser, a middle-aged woman with a kind face and bright red glasses, came over and looked at them in puzzlement. "Goodness gracious, you certainly do need a cleaning up, young man," she said as she reached out and lightly ran her fingers through Ronan's hair. He felt anxiety and curiosity racing in his mind. How had his hair grown so big overnight? The thought of magic was exciting and yet scary, leaving him to wonder if there was another change waiting around the corner.

The scissors were working away in his hair, and with every little snip, Ronan's heart felt like it was beating in his chest. With every lock that fell onto the floor, he felt a mix of relief and dread. The motion of the hairdresser's hands in his hair was soothing yet unsettling, so much so that it was hard to think of anything else but the mystery of his sudden transformation. The hairdresser stopped a moment, her fingers still tangled in Ronan's hair, as she looked up at his mother. "I've been cutting hair for over twenty years, but never have I seen anything like this." Her voice was full of wonder and concern.

Ronan's stomach turned at her words. Clamping down on his fists, he tried to steady his breath as unease emanated from everywhere. His eyes darted to his mother as though searching in her face for some sort of reassurance; however, her furrowed brow seemed only to deepen his worry. His mother said shortly to the hairdresser, ''He just did not want a haircut for a while.'' The hairdresser nodded slowly. She wasn't convinced, but decided to ignore the behavior for now and get on with her job. She sectioned his hair with a careful touch, her actions very calculated, as if she had something fragile and extraordinary in her hands. With every snip of the scissors, she seemed to study the strands, curious about the unusual texture and growth.

She laid a hand on Ronan's shoulder and smiled reassuringly at him. "It's just hair, sweetheart. We'll get it all sorted out, and you'll feel much better afterwards." Her voice was soft and reassuring—quite the opposite of Ronan's turmoil. Ronan appreciated his mother's attempt at calming him, but he still felt tension underlying in her voice. Her words, though kind, didn't help to relay that to the storm of thoughts raging in his mind. The mystery of his sudden hair growth loomed large, overshadowing any sense of normalcy she tried to instill. Finally, the hairdresser finished, and Ronan looked into the mirror, his hair now neatly trimmed, but he could not shake off the feeling of unease as he strummed his fingers on his short hair, a feel of relief yet lingering apprehension. He wondered if this were just the very beginning of something altogether more remarkable.
