Velius Thaldor, First Year, Ravenclaw

Velius is a slim, rather tall boy who has very dense shoulder long brown hair as well as sharp greyish blue eyes. He has very distinct eyebrows as well as lashes. This gives him a curious, intrigued but firm look.



He is seen as sociable and fun to have around, although he can be sometimes very stubborn and eccentric, when he wants something, which potentially pushes people away. Velius is very dedicated and enthusiastic about his interests, he is very perceptive and can be quite creative, this on the other hands attracts people to him.



Velius' parents met by accident, his father being a Ministry of Magic official sent to a Muggle hospital to reverse a magical accident, where his mother, a Muggle nurse, was working at the time. They live in a medium-sized English town, their surrounding is mostly made up of Muggles, which forces them to hide their abilities to a reasonable degree, but they also have some magical friends as well. Therefore Velius has rarely ever been to Wizard places. His parents prefer a quiet life, apart from wizarding conventions. To make it easier to hide, they adapted to the Muggle identity and Magic was rather rarely used in their every-day live. Even Velius' father, who works in the Ministry of Magic, was a changed man whenever he stepped into their home. He could be confused with a Muggle.
Therefore receiving the Hogwarts letter was not exactly something Velius had looked forward to. He saw it as a burden to have to leave all of his Muggle friends behind for Magical education, something his father was nevertheless very strict about. And even his mother encouraged him to go, after all, she married a Wizard.

Velius first instance of performing magic was when he was five and in his Muggle Kindergarten during a stage play he and his peers had to take part in with all the parents watching. He got stage fright and felt so embarrassed that the room filled with a thick smoke that hid him completely. He was so busy with remembering his lines that he didn't notice though and just continued acting. But the parents freaked out and the Muggle fire brigade was called.
