Cherry Wood: Cherry is a very rare wand wood that creates wands of strange power, which are highly valued by the wizarding students of Mahoutokoro, where those who own cherry wands are held in high esteem.

A Western wand-purchaser should dispel any notion from their mind that the pink blooming cherry makes for a frivolous or merely ornamental wand, as cherry wood often makes for wands that possess truly lethal power no matter the core. If paired with a core of dragon heartstring however, the wand should never to be teamed with a wizard without exceptional self-control and strength of mind.

Wand Choice: Users of this wand tend to seek power in terms of force or might rather than cleverness or luck.

Flavor: Very rare and often makes for a wand with destructive power. It is often paired with a core that reflects this.
Pheonix Feather: This was one of the rarest core types. Phoenix feathers were capable of the greatest range of magic, though they may have taken longer than either unicorn hair or dragon heartstring cores to reveal this. They showed the most initiative, sometimes acting of their own accord, a quality that many witches and wizards disliked.

Phoenix feather wands were always the pickiest when it comes to potential owners, for the creature from which they are taken was one of the most independent and detached in the world. These wands were the hardest to tame and to personalize, and their allegiance was usually hard-won.

Made by Garrick Ollivander, these wands are the rarest type of wand core. They have the ability to produce the greatest range of magic and are known to act of their own accord, a trait that many witches and wizards are not fond of. Phoenix core wands are also known to be the most finicky when choosing their wizard and can be difficult to master. These wands are often attracted to enduring or stubborn wizards.

Personality

Gregor Aarden is a man who is described as being much older than he actually is, and displays himself almost all the time in formal attire. As such, his presence almost demands respect but he always pays it back to whoever grants him such a right (even to young students). However, despite his formal and respectful appearance, he is a rather open and creative thinker in the arts of magic.

From experience, students have either called him a mad man or a lunatic for some of the methods or thought processes' he presents. Some find it hard to believe he takes his work seriously, but he dives so deeply into his own theories or explanations that he himself ends up lost in the myriad known as magic. He'll let students wander and explore their own ways to convey and understand concepts, but he'll never let them get lost in the curriculum. That is if he isn't already lost in his own mind of knowledge. As requested, please make sure to yell his name if he begins to go on a 40 min rant about why jelly tastes like jelly and not pumpkin juice.

History

Those who were close with the man known as Gregor Aarden would find it hard to believe that he lived inside the confines of his home for the first couple of years of his life. He displays an aptitude and talent for knowing so much, but he was never exactly a studious student who would have his head inside books all the time. Although, his parents certainly made sure his brain was crammed with enough knowledge to pass as the next Merlin in the wizarding world as his father hoped for, or as a doctor in the muggle world as expected by his mother. Yet, the confines of the walls and living beneath his parent's expectations merely shaped Gregor into a man of freedom and lunacy. By the time he reached the age of attending Hogwarts, he already knew enough knowledge of classes to excel as one of their top students. Placed in the scaley home of Slytherin, Gregor found bliss amongst the other students within his classes and dorms. From his time spent, he developed a strong aptitude for transfiguration and the underlying magic behind it. Perhaps it was due to his mother, a muggle professor, that he was able to understand concepts that mixed muggle and wizard ideologies. Transfiguration had the ability to explain magic, but to explain so deep and far down upon atomic/molecular scales was certainly no easy challenge.

Upon his 5th year at Hogwarts did he already begin to show small strands of very light and slight gray strands in his hair, and it only provided more questions than answers; yet, a whole lot of fascination as well. The reason was contributed to poor genetics, something he noticed his mother also shared a trait in and one his father disliked greatly. Gregor never understood why, but his father never enjoyed the sight of gray hair upon his son or his wife. As such, Gregor had to change his hair color whenever he went home for the summer to study muggle sciences, history, and cultures in the presence of his father.

By the age of 18 upon graduation, Gregor excelled greatly as a man who could see both sides of muggle and wizard cultures and enjoyed both greatly. Yet, his curiosity drove him in learning the stories and theories across the world as to why the world was the way it is. An answer was never bound to be found, but a close shared thought could have been explored. If muggles in Europe didn't have a good answer, then perhaps wizards in Asia did. If not there, then the muggles of Africa certainly had an interesting thought to share as well. Theories born from both magical and un-magical cultures were recorded and shared amongst Gregor and his fellow scholars. This was more of a hobby, and he was more of a negotiator who dealt with conflicts between the wizarding and un-wizarding worlds. His parents never approved of his choice, but Gregor cared very little for their thoughts. He was a free man, with the option to finally take what he believed was rightfully his. Imagine and morph the world into what we all see it as a place we call home. His travels certainly brought a lot of wisdom, and he couldn't bare to just keep it all to himself. From the Philippines to Canada, from New York all the way to Hong Kong, Gregor just found himself in the most enjoyable places one could find themselves in. Yet, the answers people gave became meek and boring, gray if anything. People always enjoyed the rants and talk Gregor brought, but he never enjoyed the things he heard from other adults around his age or older.

Throughout all the altercations, he did find himself flirting a bit with a few individuals but never actually committed to staying in one location or bringing anyone along for the journey. The only true companion he had who stuck with him upon his 30th birthday was a small goldfish, to whom he named "Phillip."

He attempted a bit of speaking with magical beasts and creatures that could at least keep up a worthy conversation, but their ideals and thoughts also didn't last as long. Or in the worst-case scenario, Gregor almost gets eaten and attacked by some of the unfriendlier types of creatures. Either way though, you pick up a few new tricks here and there from these sorts of adventures. The mind and the world are just one big jigsaw puzzle, with a maze included. To solve it requires the brightest of minds with fresh and new ideas.

A child's mind grows and explores much better than that of an adult. Even if a child can't think like an adult, doesn't mean they can't understand it. A child's point of view was the most creative and unique way for theories to take place and grow. The answers to saving the world couldn't be found in the old views or lack of creativity that Gregor found his fellow colleagues possessing. As such, Gregor eventually found himself at the gates of Hogwarts, prepared to tell his students how we as people have 180 degrees of vision, and thus countless ways to interpret the world from just slight movements in our minds and perspective. Gregor, no, Professor Aarden was prepared to be studied by his students and to study them right back in the most creative of ways possible.

First Instance of Magic

It was difficult to say the exact moment or day Gregor had experienced his first instance of magic. He was close to around the age of 10, and the winter snow had begun to fall upon the streets of Newcastle. The young Gregor had hoped his parents would finally grant him a bit of freedom to go out and play with all the other children around and have fun in the weather. Unfortunately, that wasn't going to be the case as his mother had planned a lecture on art history for the young lad. His smiles upon that day swiftly turned to frowns and his hopes for some fun were immediately dismissed.

For a boy of his age, of course, he was going to have an outburst and throw a fit. He couldn't understand or fathom why he had to stay inside and learn such a boring concept. His tantrums of course fell on deaf ears of his mother, and he wasn't being given a choice since he was already slacking in his studies. He was told he'd be grounded and never let outside again if he didn't act more mature for his age.

His mother was showing him multiple objects, such as replicas of the Mona Lisa and mini Chinese clay soldiers but Gregor eventually had enough. He looked overly tired and bored, and he decided to slam his fist into the at-home desk he sat in. Instantly the colors of the mona Lisa became inverted, and the mini clay soldier had a rainbow of mixed colors placed upon it while growing to an actual human-size clay soldier. His mother almost had a heart attack from the inverted colors of the Mona Lisa due to its frightening appearance, and she could have sworn she thought the pride-colored terracotta soldier was alive.

His mother called for his father, to which he took great pleasure in knowing his son finally had his first instance in magic, and it was one related to fine arts and colors. The boy was let out of his home-schooled class early and allowed to play with the other children while his father attempted to undo the mess he had caused. Unfortunately for Gregor though, his father would take this as a sign that his son was very intrigued by the subject.

It is not a loss nor a win. In the end, you all will learn something new.
