Emma is not small neither tall. She is situated on the higher average, she is 4'11'' tall. Her face is an almost-perfect oval, with high flushing cheeks giving her a vibrant look. She has green-brown eyes which are almond and small and bright. They gave her a malicious air. Her face is framed by wavy and light brown and short hair. Sometimes, she can look androgynous by acting like a boy (due to the fact she was raised among boys). Her face is pretty expressive as she frowns very often, as her forehead wrinkle sometimes, by squinting and also by smiling unrestrained. For the clothing, as her family has also been very poor, she uses to wear her brothers' shirts and jeans when they grew taller and bigger. Usually clothes that didn't really fit her.

Mental Description
Emma is a lively girl who is always in action, doing stuff with her hands, running out with her shoes. She is very curious, is as dynamic as she can be, always hanging around, can't stand being inactive. She is quite an independent girl and a tomboy: sometimes she is a bit brutal with her words and manners, due to the way she had been raised, but she has a kind heart. She had learnt to be pretty social due to her mother's job and her three big brothers: she has social facilities. She is also a fighting girl, due to struggling with her brothers (especially with Russell, that she thought would leave the family house way before her!) which made her look independent. She is! As she needs nobody to play with to have fun. She can appears wild but she is quite polite. She has difficulty respecting authority, which can cause her some troubles: she use to think that adults can't understand her. She is also not very empathic, and think about herself before others most of the time - except for family. But she definitely has a kind heart! Fond of muggle science fiction movies and most of the original sound track. Finally, if she can be as lively as a butterfly, talking and laughing, she is also conscious of the issues surronding her such as poverty, sexism and climate change. However, it is not a major worry as she is still too young to measure the importance of those subjects.in a few words: dynamic - independent - tomboy - quite sociable - not very empathic

Pre-Hogwarts History
She was born in West Bromwich, a town located near Birmingham, in the West Midlands. She has always lived in this small town with her two parents and three big brothers. The Murray family has always been living in a small house, in a pavilion area, with two floors and four bedrooms; Emma is sharing a bedroom with the youngest boy, Jamie. She did get along with her brothers, in an odd way as they keep fighting and struggling, but the competition created in the family had had a positive impact on each one of them - even if it makes Emma quiet rebel. Their childhood has been pretty happy, good-balanced despite some grief - normal life. Due to her older brothers, Emma has been watching a lot of science fiction movies and developed a huge affection for them (she could be reading books, but she can't stand reading books; she likes to be in action). Emma lived surrounded by many children: her three big brothers but also the kids that her mother watched. The Murrays always had had some friends, living in Solihull and other towns around, who they get to see sometimes. They also have relatives, family, but they don't get to see them often as most of her mother's sisters are aboard and her dad is no longer in touch with his. Emma has friends too, which are mainly boys, met in school - she looked cool to boys whereas wild to girls (for climbing in three, having a harsh vocabulary gotten from Russell, short hair and boys clothes). She went to school and had decent grades, but discovered she had some trouble respecting authority (not so big, fortunately). She had been raised by her mother mainly, among her big brothers and television as well as phones and tablets. Completely muggle raised. Her social environment had been tenuous, she always lived in a poor neightbourhood, shopping very cheap food and buying clothes once a year - mainly for her biggest brother, as the youngest ones gets the oldest's clothes. Emma's first instance of magic was not obvious. Not obvious enough for her or her family to notice. Her magic appeared a few times, and when she was very furious and it only happened two or three times. The first instance was a stone that flew over a window and broke it, a day she was extremely angry at Russell when she was seven. Emma always thought someone else threw that stone.in a few words: west bromwich - poor family - boys friends
The Announcement
It was a sunny and hot day. The doorbell rang and Emma's father groaned. Beth went to the door and opened it, discovering and pointed-hatted man, wearing a long and dark dress. She was puzzled but she let the man in. He was holding a letter, an old piece of paper, darkened with ink. He asked for Emma Murray, and her mother shouted in the stairwell for her to come down. She did, pretty excited, quite puzzled. The man, who was a Hogwarts' teacher, start telling Emma and her mother about the wizard school. Both were astonished. They took the letter and let the man leaving, an hour or two after, and the whole family discussed it. It seems a joke to every member, although Beth was determined to send Emma to Hogwarts. Emma felt kind of sad and completely lost. She, and the Murray family, wasn't excepting that: they did not realise that Emma was magical. Since the day she left for Hogwarts in the Hogwarts Express.in a few words: discovery of the magic world - puzzled - scared

Her Mother

Her mother, Beth Murray, is a childminder exercising at home, welcoming children in her own small house before they are old enough to attend school, and if they are she is picking them up after school. She used to take care of four children of different ages. She is a lovely-looking mother and a plump woman, always wearing a green apron. And she has the same light brown curly hair as her one and only daughter. |
Her Father

Her father, Robert Murray, has always been a loving father. He could sound hard sometimes, pushing each one of his children to overpass themselves to reach what he calls excellence. He is manual, and do crafts every (sunny) weekend. But he does spend a lot of time watching TV. He is working in an assembly line at a car factory. Well: he was. He had been fired a month before the Hogwarts' teacher came to announce the departure of Emma. |
Her biggest brother

Her biggest brother, Harvey Murray, is an engineering student that left the house for a small university in Scotland two years ago. He has always been kind to his smaller brothers even if the three of them were often squabbling. Now considered as the wiser member of the Murray Family, he is not often coming back home. If he came back, he stays rather quiet. |
The following brother

The following brother, Russell Murray, did not attend college yet. He is having trouble with authority and with school in general. Having bad grades and getting detentions and truanting. He uses to hang out with a boys crew in the West Bromwich streets. Even if he is considered a rebel, he is quite polite with his family although his language is coarse. |
The youngest brother
|
The youngest brother, Jamie Murray, is in secondary school. He has friends, but he does not actually like to hang out. He is more fond of video games and his friends are mainly virtuals. He does lot spend a lot of time inside, playing video games. |
