Lorelei is a quiet, introverted girl. She enjoys reading and reads at a Year 11 (10th grade/sophomore US) reading level. She doesn't talk much unless speaking to someone she's comfortable around. This is a side effect of her upbringing, as she had to be careful when talking about her life, especially with teachers or other people at school. She's a hard worker and loves learning. She generally has her nose in a book or is writing something. She loves Quidditch, and it's really the only sport she cares about, but she often goes to her muggle friends' football (soccer) games.
Lorelei was born the half-blood daughter of witch Maggie Star and muggle Edmund Preiss in Eastbourne, England. Maggie told Edmund about the wizarding world soon before they were married, and while he had no problem with Lorelei being raised with the knowledge of what she was, he insisted that she be raised as part of both the muggle and wizarding worlds and that she would go to a muggle primary school before Hogwarts, and possibly a muggle university after. She was raised surrounded by a mix of wizard and muggle culture and became quite the nerd. She first instance of accidental magic happened when she was four. She was colouring at the kitchen table, listening to a Disney station on her father's Pandora account and singing along when the flower song from tangled played, and as she sang, the paper she was drawing on began to glow softly before fading back to normal. She excelled in muggle school, especially in reading and history. Maths came easily as well, though she couldn't do it fast. Science she struggled at a bit as muggle science and magic often contradict each other. Her family on her mother's side, while not part of the Sacred 28, was pretty well off in the wizarding world, and her parents agreed that spellcasting would generally be confined to their summer home, inherited by Maggie through her parents. That way, she could grow up with many muggle experiences involving electronic devices.
She loves history and animals and is fascinated by transfiguration. She has often considered a career in teaching or magizoology. She's read all the way through a few of her textbooks before school started. She's a fan of Newt Scamander's work, and even before it was assigned for school she owned multiple versions of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them, including the newest edition.
In muggle pop culture, she's a huge fan of Disney and Doctor Who, including the Sarah Jane Adventures. Her parents haven't let her watch Class or Torchwood yet. She loves the Warrior Cats and Wings of Fire series as well. She's read Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes books and has begged her parents to watch BBC's Sherlock, though they have not as of yet.
The only time she's had any real problem with living in both the wizard and muggle worlds is when her Hogwarts letter arrived. She'd had a muggle friend, Darci Wilson, visiting when the owl arrived, and her mum had to intercept the owl so the muggle wouldn't see it. She sat in a compartment by herself on the train, reading Hogwarts: A History, and has yet to actually talk to many people at school. She was sorted into Ravenclaw like her mother and is very excited about it.
