Almost Christmas Time for Gifts solo Closed

Katrina stooped down and grabbed the gifts for her Hogwarts friends, some pens, some notecards, her art bin, and the wrapping paper and went down the Leaky Cauldron stairs. She found the Great Hall and saw the seats were mostly empty, there were a few people scattered about, but nobody too loud. Katrina found an empty corner along one wall and set out her stuff.

The Gryffindor began with the smallest item. She fingered the silver spherical bulb-- it had a white snowflake engraved behind the word written in black with fancy calligraphy. Katrina laid a bit of green wrapping paper on the ground and put the ornament on top of it. The girl opened her art bin and took out a pair of white scissors and a tape dispenser. She cut the wrapping paper and folded it around the object. When she was done, Katrina taped the end. The student spun a length of red ribbon and tied it around the shape into a pretty bow. Alyssa would love her gift!

Next, Katrina grabbed the gift for Thora; sure at the moment their friendship was rocky-- but Katrina was in a giving mood. The metallic art set shone up at her. The lion peered inside, checking that everything was there. There was a set of twenty-five oil tubes in an array of colors. Hues of lilac, rose, and pale green entwined with vivid oranges and deep maroons. Three brushes with various sizes beside it: a rounded fine point tip, a medium sized large brush, and a detail oriented brush. Katrina quickly folded the box in a light blue wrapping paper with snowflakes on it. She stuck a deep blue pre-made bow on top.

The last gift was in pieces beside Katrina. She looked over at the mess: a small yellow journal, a six color set of gel pens, a small friendship bracelet starter set, a small bottle of lavender lotion, a tube of candy cane scented hand sanitizer, a mini desk set complete with a small stapler, hole puncher, and tape roll, and a small container of random colored paper. Katrina reached over and grabbed a cardboard box from behind her. She placed the journal and gel pens in first and then the mini desk set and paper. She placed the bracelet kit and lavender lotion next and finished with the hand sanitizer. Katrina taped the box closed and spent extra time folding the green wrapping paper. She finished with an elaborate bow on top.

The Gryffindor looked at the three presents and smiled imagining their faces as they opened each gift. Next, was cards. Katrina got out her paper and pens and began to work.

Dear Alyssa,

I know that we have been drifting apart a bit, but I still think of you. Have a very merry Christmas and a happy holiday season. This is an ornament (which is a muggle holiday decoration, in case you don't know) for you. I hope you have a great time.

The note was short and sweet. Katrina drew out her hole-puncher and put a hole in the top corner so she could thread the bow through it. Katrina was one down with two to go.

Dear Thora,

Merry Christmas. I really am sorry for what happened in the library, I never meant that to happen. I apologize that I haven't told you. I am willing to start fresh this year if you are. I found this art set and I hope you like it. Have a great holiday season!

It was hard to write that down, but it felt good to get it off her chest. Katrina sat there and smiled as she taped the note to the top of Thora's art set.

Dear Bridget,

Merry Christmas. I know we hardly know each other, but I think you are my closest friend at this school. I am so grateful for that and I wanted to wish you a happy holiday. I have to admit that I had no clue what you would want, so I just threw some things together.

She put this letter in an envelope and taped it to the top of her box as well. Later yesterday, Katrina bought some candy canes for everybody else. She quickly wrote "Merry Christmas" on a dozen notecards and on the back wrote "To: ____ From: Katrina". In each blank she wrote the names of people who she had met. There was a lot of heart put into those letters and as Katrina tied each candy cane on with a bow she smiled thinking of all of their reactions as they ate their treats.
