The Badger vs. The Hill PV Finished

As her name was called, Emma took a deep breath and took her place.  Feelings boiled inside of her. She felt nervous, excited, and fierce at the same time. She watched the following two walked off the stage, as the previous duel had commenced she had tried to take some form of a mental note. 

As she stepped on to the stage, her heart began to pound against her lungs. It was her first duel, so she hoped she wouldn't mess things up too badly. It was going to be a good match, that was one thing she was going to reassure herself.

She drew her aspen wood wand out of her pocket, Ollivander had told her it was perfect for wizards with a hidden ability. As gracefully as she could, she bowed sportsmanly and gave a faint smile. At the Prefect's words, she pointed her wand at the Hufflepuff's feet and decided to attack.

"Flipendo!" She cried, hoping the spell would hit him. Emma waved her wand around It was one of the few spells she knew, that could hopefully cause some sort of damage. After waved her wand, the thoughts of more offensive spells came to her mind.

Action: Defensive Stance - Cast Flipendo (at the feet/knee area)

Duncan was nervous, but curious, about the duel coming up. It seemed the Prefect had high expectations for a Hufflepuff win. There had never been a time in his life for dueling or studying the practice. This was going to be terrifying. He mainly hoped he didn't embarrass himself in front of everyone. The cherry wood wand gracefully came to his hand from his pocket as he walked up to the platform. A smile was all he managed to his partner before giving a bow as well.

This whole ordeal made Duncan feel defensive. It was only natural he would pick an extremely defensive stance for this first round. He had no desire to be hit and didn't mind if he missed as long as he was safe. His wand haphazardly aimed at Emma's chest to quickly cast a spell before he could get hit.

"Incendio!" He yelled out while trying to get the right movements down.

It took all his willpower not to close his eyes in anticipation. Duncan maintained a cautious eye on the girl and did his best to dodge her spell, unsure if he could at this point. He also hoped his spell would catch her and maybe help him win.

Action: Defensive+ Stance - Cast Incendio

The pressure that Serena had accidentally put onto the Hufflepuff boy seemed to be getting to him. Whoops! It had been entirely unintentional. She was simply musing to herself about the odds. However, nonetheless, words were spoken and spells were cast and it was too late now to remove that pressure. Both of the students assumed a defensive stance, though one was a little bit more defensive than the other. 

Unfortunately, despite being extra cautious, Duncan's tactic did not save him this time. He found himself hit in the shins. The sudden impact knocked him over, causing him to fall onto his stomach after being flipped in the air. Round one attacks definitely went to the Hill in this duel as she stood tall, poised and ready for a second attack. The flipendo she cast had caused the poor Badger's wand arm to swing out of aim. His 'incendio' failed to cast properly. The wand movement was suddenly broken, causing only the tiniest flicker of flame at the tip of his wand to erupt. It went nowhere and quickly disappeared before he even had the chance to fire it at the Ravenclaw against him.

Serena stood there, watching Duncan fall onto his front. Though it looked like the attack hurt him and certainly knocked the wind out of him, it looked like he was strong enough to continue. Emma was certainly ready to go in for her next attack, there was no doubt about that. The Prefect watched silently, waiting to see what they would do next. This match could still go either way...

RESULTS OF ROUND ONE:
Duncan is hit, taking 225 damage and is down to 375 hp.
Emma is not hit and remains at full health, 400 hp.
Duel continues... Begin Round Two...

Emma had been ecstatic that she had caused the first shot, though she tried not to let the pride get to her head. After charging, she took a step back and gathered her thoughts before releasing another spell. It took a lot for her to not overanalyze the whole situation, so she had merely been relying on her paternal instincts. 

She had decided to use a spell that she had learned in Herbology. Hopefully, she wouldn't have to use the spell learned in Defense Against the Dark Arts. Emma aimed the wand at the Hufflepuff's wand arm, in the attempt to hit something.

"Incendio!" Emma had felt a bit bad for using the same spell he had, but she only had a few spells to work with.

Action: Neutral Stance - Cast Incendio

Emma instantly bounced back and attacked Duncan. Apparently he could no longer continue, however. Her incendio hit him, doing a bit more damage but nothing too permanent.

Sighing, Serena shrugged as she watched the fire die down. "Alright, let's end it here." She called out, ending the practice duel. "Rest up, take it easy and perhaps we can try this again another time." Serena concluded, encouraging them to tend to their wounds and take a break for now.

"The winner of this duel is Emma Hill, congratulations" She replied nodding to the Ravenclaw. With that, Serena watched them leave the room and turned to the next participants.

Duel Ends due to inactivity. Emma wins practice by default.
