Are you ready?
Alan had now fully transitioned to being part of the duelling team and as such he wanted to properly practice more than necessary now. Santario had been kind enough to agree to have a practice duel with him and Alan was a little nervous. He usually did not duel against people with the intent to hurt them badly enough to make them drop to the stage so he hoped that it was okay to be a bit worried about that sort of stuff. But he was also hoping to kind of grow over this shadow and Santario was usually a great support for that.
The two of them had agreed on a small practice duel in the club rooms and Alan was excited to face off against the girl, who also happened to be his best friend from the house of Slytherin. He thought so at least, he had many friends and even more acquaintances. "Are you ready?" he would ask with a nervous grin as he picked the wand from the leather strap holster around his hip and twirled the wand between his fingers lightly. He had looked forward to this training all week, excitement and adrenaline rushing through his veins as he looked at her, golden specks sparkling within his eyes as he got ready at one side of the marked out duelling stage and positioned himself comfortably.

Alan Vanes, a Gryffindor who was like a brother she never had, and she adored him, so when he asked her to help him practice, her answer was an immediate yes. Santario had come dressed rather casually, her hair pulled back into its signature French braid. San entered the room and smiled brightly at Alan, who seemed a little nervous but excited. She always loved it when his eyes got those golden speckles in them, and someday she wanted to see if he would let her get an up-close photo of them. He was growing up into such a handsome man, and she wondered if anyone would ever catch his eye. If someone ever did, San would have to make sure to give them the hurt him, and I’ll hurt you speech.Stamina | 8 | Evasion | 7 | Strength | 3 | Wisdom | 9 | Arc Power | 10 | Accuracy | 11 |

“I am indeed, though, if you’ve become any more nimble than you were before, I think this will be over quickly and not in my favor.” She laughed softly, knowing that Alan outmatched her by two years. “Thankfully, we both have reparifors, so we can keep each other out of the hospital, probably. I think we can also agree on no fire.” The only instance Santario had used fire in a duel was over the summer, and she had regretted it later regardless of how much she had disliked the person she had used it against.
Santario stepped up onto the piste and took her place across from Alan drawing her cherrywood wand. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly. Santario already knew she was good; she needed to remember that this was for Alan to help him leave friendships at the door to be a better duellist. After all, it was better to win against friends when they didn’t hold back just because you were friends.
Santario gave Alan a nod and flourished her wand. “Ventus!” If she was going to stand a chance, she needed to stop him from evading.

He had to laugh at her comment, then gave a smug grin. "Guess you will have to find out," he opened. He had indeed worked on his speed over the summer by both interval and intensity training, as well as trying to improve his reflexes. He think he had gotten far with that and would give San a taste of that very soon. "Yeah, no worries and I'll catch you if you hit the ground, or you can simply tap out," he added, confidently. He had quite a lot of trust in his ability to keep standing at the end of this, though he had the advantage of his age. So even if he did end up winning this and San ended up losing, it was not even close to being as impressive as Santario besting him and taking this win... well not home but back to her dorm, he assumed?
"Rictusempra!", he would cast simultaneously to San, before moving out of her spell's range with the seeming fluidity only a feline might possess. He didn't even break a sweat as if her spell had moved in slow motion. A cheeky smile was on his face as he tried to check what happened to his spell. He had high hopes that the spell hit, or at least he wished this into existence. At least the spell hadn't failed, so he hoped that his accuracy had been more or less spot on.

@Alan Vanes
“Tap out? Not on my life, Phoenix!” She proclaimed before sending her Ventus forward. San was good, best hit rate on her team second to Dmitri, but Alan was quicker, a lithe frame evading her spell with ease. His own spell sent at her, and while she was not nearly as graceful as Alan was, she still managed to dodge out of its way, but only barely. The spell's energy would still get too close for comfort playing with her hair as if it were a soft breeze. Something that reminded her that Alan was still a proficient duellist despite not having dueled last year.
“How have the first few days of school been?” This wasn’t an official duel; if anything, it was a glorified practice, so why not make some small talk and catch up a bit as well. It wouldn’t mean that she would take it any less seriously, but Alan was in fifth year now, which meant he would be a lot busier studying for his end of term O.W.L.S., so San figured she should get in a conversation where she could. “Tarantallegra!” If hit with the dancing feet spell, Alan would find himself doing a Jive step.

The boy would grin, liking the nickname he had gained within the heat of the moment. It was sort of ironic how much he loved this creature when in fact he despised the use of fire magic. Then again the phoenix actually never hurt anyone despite its element being known to be one of the most merciless, the phoenix's tears was of the most valuable healing property a person could ever find. And they flew with such grace it was hard to not find them absolutely beautiful. Her spell would launch towards his but it would be missed as he stepped out of the sparks way, like the jump of a an animal that had expected an attack. His movement was almost fluent as if he would predict where her attack would have landed before she even had cast the spell. But he was sure that eventually luck would be on her side, after all he could not dodge every spell there was.
"Good try, but you got to try harder than that," he would swish his wand and cast at her, "Aqua Eructo," he would call out as a huge jet of water spew from his wand and headed toward her. It felt awesome, it was the first time he would be able to use this spell, he had practiced the theory over summer and the last school year but never actually had practiced it. To see it succeed so flawlessly just seemed to be a great sign. Now he would just need to hit her. Perhaps this would come easy, but he knew his aim was not perfect and Santario's reflexes were somewhat decent, so who knew how this would turn out?
