Duelling Stage 3, Day 1
Saturday, 24th April 2021
The time had come for the final stage of the Duelling Championship! This has been the first year that duelling had been in full swing, and now we would get to see which house gets the bragging rights for the next year of best duellists. Would it be the Brave Gryffindors, Witty Ravenclaws, Ambitious Slytherins, or the Fierce Badgers? Regardless of who wins, it has been made very clear that every house was in it to win it.
At the top of stage three, we have Ravenclaw first with 28 points, followed by Slytherins with 26 points. The third is Hufflepuff with 22 points and finally Gryffindor with 20 points. Give your houses some love and cheer them on to take the tournament!
The Duelling Room was a large room, with long stages set up in the centre. Three stages, in fact. Lines had been drawn on the ground to signify where the spectators should stand - a safe distance behind the referees and professors. This was mostly just to keep them from being victim to a random stray spell that could have been misfired.
On the front door of the room and again on the wall, a large poster stuck up containing the timetable for duels for spectators wishing to view specific friends. There were two main slots the morning slot and the afternoon slot. Each slot had three games - two pairs per game. Some students opted to come for just one game; others chose to attend all of them. It was completely up to the spectators.
As there were three stages set up, spectators could watch all three of the morning or afternoon games in one go. Some might end earlier than others, but there was an hour slot booked in, by which all three of the duels will definitely have ended.
Let the day one games begin.

Ruka wasn't particularly known for his House Loyalty.
After having lost his place on the Duelling Team when he stayed away from school for a few months he didn't really have much of a reason left to dedicate his loyalty to the Gryffindor Team, so it was no wonder that he would be found dressed in all blue that morning, waving around a flag he had made out of an old T-Shirt he had cut up and magically coloured in Ravenclaw colours. With his support having been made as obvious as he possibly could have, Ruka had made sure to arrive at the Duelling site early to make up for having been late to the last event he had come to support Dealla in.
Finding that no one else seemed to have hurried as much as he had, Ruka was quick to secure himself a good spot to watch the Duel from, flag excitedly waving through the air as he cheered the entrance of the Duellists. His eyes lingered on the Gryffindor captain AJ for a moment with a pang of melancholy, but he soon found himself looking at Dealla with an enthusiastic spark in his eyes. "Go get 'em, Dee!" he yelled brightly, bouncing on the balls of his feet. This was the final Stage, and if anybody deserved to come out on top, Ruka would have definitely picked Dealla, who seemingly put her all into everything she did, and also seemed to actually do everything. Someone who was so on top of all their activities deserved every victory they could possibly achieve.
Ruka was in no way biased in the matter.
Settling down a bit again, Ruka focused his attention on the movement on the stage, feeling his own body tense up as if he was the one expecting to have a spell cast at him. The moments before the first spell fired seemed to draw out ridiculously long, as if time had stopped for a moment. It rose the excitement inside him and he restlessly shifted his weight from one leg to the other. Part of him wanted to keep cheering and whooping for his friend, but he also did not want to disturb her focus, so he remained silent, wildly swinging his flag as he waited to observe everyone's first move.

The green eyes always told themselves one of these day they will show up to support their friends who became a dueler. But between the never ending piled up of school assignments, Quid practices and matches, the green eyes never got the time to do so up to this point.
So after Cash done their morning routine which is run a little bit around the campus until their legs ache and they thought their physical exercise was enough for the day. After that Cash took much needed shower to get rid of the germs and sweat.
Then they marched towards the Great Hall to have their daily dose of breakfast while catching up on some homework(s) that they have not done it yet. Cash got back to their dorm again to have a short power nap while waiting for lunch time to rolled in. Once lunch was over, Cash marched towards the fourth floor to watched today dueling match.
Cash was the first one that arrived at the scene for the afternoon slot. Donning Slytherin Quidditch Team Beater t-shirt, gold brown short pants and green shoes to completed the outfit. On their left wrist adorned with their family heirloom bracelet that have a snake shape embellishment on it.
The young socialite stood at the perfect position. Their line of view was smacked dab on the center of the stage, so they would not missed what in front of them. The Cuban descendant will wait for the referee to called out Starlee name. When Starlee took upon the stage, Cash would cheered for their good friend.
"Woohoo Star!!"Cash exclaimed. "Don't be nervous. You've got this, babe!"The Beater said. Hoping the term of endearment that came out from Cash's mouth would not be that weird and it was so fitting for Cash to support Starlee since the blonde haired girl already been to Quidditch match twice in a row to support the Beater when Quidditch season was in session.

Xailah was at her touchiest during the earlier hours of the day. The Dueling club was one of the worst places for a person who was still waking up, to be at. Yet it was where Xailah could presently be found. The changeling had been feeling rather bitey this particular morning. Attending a crowded event in her current state was unwise, but unavoidable. Support needed to be shown; the cub was ready to toss her dwindling patience away to do just that. She stood close- as close as the crowd would allow- to the edge of one stage. A large cat slumped lazily over a delicate shoulder. Bubbling grumpiness, and the lookout for stray spells, had kept her from nodding off so far.
If Xailah was being completely honest, she couldn't find the appeal in the dueling club. It seemed too monotonous. ...She supposed the appeal for dueling was found in the fact that it could be done without the risk of consequences. Where's the fun in that? Where's the excitement? Well, it made her friends happy. In the end that was all that mattered. Xailah was not here to cheerlead for her own house let alone the other one. As far as the competing houses were concerned she thought both were oafish. It was quite simple; she was here to cheer on her friend.
It never fails: there was yet to be a duel where Pericles didn't have a rough starting. As soon as Santartio signaled the start of the match, something just had to go wrong in some way. Obscuro did not favor the house Ravenclaw at all. "Oh," She started, her voice tangled with perceptible amusement. Brows bowed. Xailah and Schrödinger shifted their attention with a synchronized tilt of the head. Coppers and golds watched two spells snake by each other.
"I believe the objective of this game is to hit the opponents, Pericles," The metamorphs voice rose from the sea of bodies. Game. Yes, game. Thats all the thing was. "But what do I know about dueling?" Flat tone and vexed roll of the eyes could easily be mistaken for exasperation, rather than harmless sarcasm. "In any case, good luck. You will be needing it. Lets not repeat your first duel, yes?" A cheeky- if not mildly malicious- smile began to take shape. Everyone needed a bit of luck. If luck wasn't an required ingredient for the recipe to success, then the Felix Felicis potion had no business in being a thing that existed. The facts were simple; people needed luck. Xailah would allow herself to settle in.

Before me, you rightly tremble. But, fear is not what you owe me. You owe me awe....

The duel didn't seem to start off particularly well for anybody, but least of all for Dealla.
Still bouncing on the balls of his feet with the adrenaline coursing through his veins, Ruka felt himself inhaling sharply as he watched her spell backfire. Instead of blinding one of the Gryffindor boys, her wand refused to cooperate and cursed her blindfold on herself instead. It had to have been one of the worst ways to start a duel, basically rendering oneself completely useless until the damned cloth was removed, and Ruka felt outraged on Dealla's behalf.
"No matter!" he yelled in her direction despite his earlier decision to keep quiet so he wouldn't break her focus. At this point his voice couldn't exactly worsen the situation for her and at the very best she may even be able to find some comfort in it. "A rough start just means there's room for improvement!" He shuffled around a bit to find a slightly better position to watch the next round from, clapping his hands together a few times to release some tension. "You can still get them!"
Dealla probably didn't need him to tell her any of that, it seemed she was readying herself for her next move despite her temporary impairment, but he felt the need to let her know just how much faith he had in her abilities anyway. "I'm counting on you!" A grin she wasn't going to be able to see spread across his face as he waved his Ravenclaw flag enthusiastically through the air. In his experience, when things were already at their worst they could only get better.

@Mars T'ien's silent support
Carolyn was tired….she would never admit it aloud of course but she was. With all the drama happening at home, she came back to Hogwarts and immediately plunged herself deep into her studies. The Easter break was no break for her at all. It left a bitter taste in her mouth and she’d forsaken Chester with a heavy heart. This was why she took every opportunity she could to get out of her routine of studying and practising ballet. Any distraction was welcome and at this point, very much needed.
The duelling club sounded quite interesting but so far, she was not brave enough to join it herself. The young Ravenclaw generally avoided conflicts and despite always looking calm and collected, she was not overly confident woman either. That didn’t mean she couldn’t at least watch of course. She saw the schedule for today and in all honesty all morning matches peaked her interest but she couldn’t decide which one to watch. She felt like on a personal level, she knew Lucia and Henry better but she liked her housemate Dealla too and felt thorn about who to support. Before she made up her mind she was already late to see either of them. Thankfully, the afternoon was much more clear to her because she knew Mars would be participating. In all honesty, Carolyn still wasn’t sure whether they even thought of her as friend but they did agree to join an errand with her during Christmas so at least she was not an annoyance? Either way, she was not here to bother them but rather observe and cheer if they happened to win. Carolyn hoped they would but she didn’t mind either way. As long as nobody gets seriously hurt. Her parents influence nudged her inconspicuously, which she was very much okay with.
The young witch sighed tiredly as she sat down and watched the four students enter. She smiled gently at Mars if they noticed; mouthing “good luck” but that was about it. She wasn’t a loud person and wasn’t great at cheering either. She also didn’t know the rest of the participants. She did see Celynne around but they never actually spoke. Well, let’s hope they both do well. With that thought, Carolyn pulled out her sketchbook, opting to relax while drawing. It was incredibly calming activity to her and considering who she was sketching, it wouldn’t sidetrack her from the duel either. On the contrary, she HAD to keep track of Mars.
Carolyn winced when the Hufflepuff’s sleeve caught on fire. Weak…her grandmother’s venomous voice echoed through her brain. Utterly horrified, the young girl shook her head as if to clear it of her bad influence. She clenched her pencil tighter and returned back to drawing. Celynne was doing well but she was a bit worried about Mars. While their opponent’s spell missed, they weren’t exactly in the best position considering their obscured vision. “You can do it Mars! Hwaiting!”Hwaiting is a word used by Koreans for encouragement. She whispered under her nose, not daring to call out to them. It would probably only disturb their concentration anyway.

After all the duelist stepped into the piste, the first round begin. Spell was being casted left an right. One choose fire, one choose wind, the bubbly ray of sunshine - Starlee - casted the Knockback Jinxed to the second year Gyffindor (Calanthe). And the older student from their house, casted the bubble - producing charm.
Which in Cash opinion is different than the rest of the other three. As powerful as Starlee casted it, her opponent succeeded dodging the force. "Now worries, Star"Cash started to cheered again. "Just focus"They coached the duelist. This is the first time the purple haired watched a duel between students, and so far for them are interesting enough.
In Quidditch, it is about endurance and strength but it a different ball game when it came down to dueling. In dueling is all about timing and wit. Everybody good at something, right? When the dueling club come back again to the school and they needed a lot of players, the green eyes almost tempted to put their name on the signed up sheet but they love Quidditch more.
The yelp of pain came from Starlee, brought back Cash from their reverie. The Cuban descendant saw the robes that Starlee wore was caught on fire. Cash tried to stop themselves from cringing. It must be an unpleasant feeling. It seems Starlee could not catch a break. She had broken her bones before and now being set on fire.
Cash would never say this out loud to anyone but seeing dueling up close like this, managed to put them a bit on the edge. A lot of outcome and possibilities can come out from this event. When the young Ironwoods saw Starlee clenched her jaw, they needed to shout out their support again.
"Do like Taylor Swift did, Star. Shake it off. Just shake it off!!"Cash cupping their hands around their mouth to amplified their voice so can it be heard among the cheering of the spectators. Cash need to thanks Maritza (one of most loyal and trusted helper back at the Ironwoods Manor) for the pop culture reference.
"You can do this, I believe in you"At this point Cash did not care if anyone will saw them as annoying or even obnoxious loud of a spectator. They came to this event to support their friend. Whether Starlee win or lose at the end of this event, they will support the bubbly blonde no matter what.

With the blindfold removed again, Dealla seemed ready to throw herself right back into the duel, and Ruka could barely contain the energy coursing through his veins as he watched her readying her wand. For a moment he thought she turned her attention his way, but before they could make eye contact she had focused back on the matter at hand. It was not yet too late to turn this duel around.
Ruka winced for a moment when he saw another spell whizzing in Dealla's direction, but the string of light did not make contact, giving Ravenclaw a good opportunity to get a shot in on their opponent. Tensely waving his blue flag, Ruka pulled his bottom lip between his teeth, watching with slight worry in his eyes as both Ravenclaws fired their spells in the direction of a half blindfolded AJ, strings of flames whirring across the duelling stage. Pericles' spell seemed to almost miss its target, but Dealla's landed with high precision, no doubt causing severe discomfort for its target.
Unable to suppress all of his enthusiasm, Ruka found himself jumping, the fist clutching the Ravenclaw flag outstretched to punch the air above him. "Yes, yes, yes!" he shouted, whistling loudly in appreciation for this round's results. "Just like that! Get 'em good!"

Cash watched the dueling that unfold infront of their eyes with rapt attention. The deafening cheering that happened around them seems like it was swallowed by giant cotton ball that Cash figuratively stuck in both of their ears. Their green eyes watched back and forth from the spells that being fired.
"Come on, Star"Cash said to no one in particular. Since Cash had the first hand experience watching the duel with both of their own eyes, Cash now understand the beauty of dueling club. Sure it was not the same brutality that the second year had to face when it comes from every match of Quidditch but they understand now.
At first Cash thought all the duelist that choose this sport did not have what it take but then after seeing the match, the young Ironwoods change their mind. Cash needed to saluted Starlee. Although Starlee did not possessed a lot of spell in her hand since she was still a first year but to be up and face not only one but two upperclassmen at the same time need courage.
Called it luck or maybe there was an airflow within the room, the fire that eat Starlee's robe slowly dissipated. The purple haired watched Starlee spatted out the Curse of the Bogies but yet again her opponent managed to sidestepped it the last second before the curse hit her. "Oh come on!"Cash cursed under their breath.
Starlee aimed was successful and could hit the Gryffindor Girl (Calanthe) but alas it was not meant to be. The older snake (Illowy) casted the Body-Bind Curse. Aimed it to the red head one (Katrina) but her aim was off and it directed to Starlee instead. Good thing Star had a good reflect as she dodged the unwanted spell.
"Focus, guys. Focus!"Cash to say the least having this urge to bite their nails until it become blunt but they opted not to do that no matter how nervous or on the edge they felt. As the next round rolled in, Cash watched the scene unfold. Katrina casted the softening charm at Illowy but she missed.
In retaliated, Illowy casted the wind jinxed to Katrina who also missed. It was looked like today is not the best day for both Illowy and Starlee as their spell kept missing their intended targets from the get go. Then the battle of flippendos was spewed by Calanthe and Starlee. When Starlee fired it, she missed her target.
But when Calanthe said it, it hit Starlee square on her chest. Thus the force managed to knocked her out and made Starlee fell into unconsciousness. A small gasp emitted from the Cuban descendant as they pushed their way to rushed into Starlee's side. When the young socialite arrived, Starlee already placed into one of the infirmary gurney.
Cash looked at one of the house elf and asking their permission if Cash could take Starlee to the Hospital Wing by themselves. The green eyes will not wait for the house elf respond as the Beater scooped Starlee up into their arms. The second year carried Starlee in bridal style and continued their stride toward the infirmary.
Once the Latinx person and the unconscious bubbly blonde arrived at the infirmary, Cash laid Starlee down on one of the available cot. Starlee blonde hair fall covering her face. The Cuban descendant pushed Starlee haired back and looked at her. The green eyes bend down and for a split second, they hesitated to do the thing they wanted to do.
After Cash make sure no one knew what they about done. Cash place a kissed on Starlee forehead. "You did good there, Star. Too bad today was not your best day"The purple haired said softly as they caressed the blond hair gently. Cash knew from the moment they met Starlee, Cash will always protect and support her no matter what.
But if someone saw them being gentle to someone else, they will deny it. They have some reputation to uphold. "When she is awake, let me know"Cash stated to one of the house elf. With that being said, Cash exited the Hospital Wing after give a small nod to the attending house elf that in the Hospital Wing.
Cash has left the thread.
Permission to carry Starlee down to the Hospital Wing was given by the said player.

Carolyn was almost completely lost in her work when she heard Mars’ voice. "Oi, save some for me, huh?" It appeared their second spell failed as well but at least it didn’t backfire and they managed to dodge any spell thrown at them. Celynne on the other hand, seemed to do just fine, successfully throwing Maria out of balance. She is good, the young Ravenclaw noted. Whether she was always this good remained a mystery for now though she looked quite confident so one could assume she was. Mostly, Carolyn was just grateful Mars had a good teammate by their side. Unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said about the two Hufflepuff students. Of course one duel didn’t necessarily speak volumes about their skills but it was clear today was simply not their day. They might still turn the tide. She mused quietly, returning to her drawing for the moment.
It was the another set of flames that brought Carolyn back to reality. “Yes!” The raven haired with cried out happily while clapping. It was quite unusual for her to be this vocal but Mars finally managed to hit their target, making their eyes spark with glee. Her applause was quite short lived though as she realized the state of the opposing team. Maria was now sneezing AND on fire, which was undoubtedly a terrible experience. Shouldn’t they give up at this point? Carolyn haven’t attended any duels before but surely this should be enough to tap out? Or perhaps it was just the medical background of her parents that made her think so. Apparently, the two girls disagreed.
“Ouch,” Carolyn couldn’t help but flinch as the next round of spells hit their targets perfectly. Well, for the Ravenclaw part they did. Maria was now dancing and Elisabeth was hit by a Knockback jinx, strong enough to make her lose consciousness. Carolyn felt bad for her, especially once the medical team rushed in but strangely she found herself handling the sight much better than she used to. She often visited her parents’ workplaces and both offered numerous scarring incidents so she was always super vigilant when it came to injuries. It always felt like she should do something. Help somehow. This time however, she found that instinct strangely absent. It was not the Hufflepuff’s fault of course. She didn’t know her and she was not competitive enough to wish somebody harm just because they were on the opposing team either. So why was she suddenly so calm about the whole ordeal? It was strange to say the least but the raven-haired girl decided not to explore that particular revelation for now. For once, she wasn’t eager to find an explanation.
