Bribery Works! Most of the time, anyway.
To some bribery might've been unsavoury but for Callie it was the only way she could get something done. It was how she managed to keep near straight O's, bury herself in books and find the time to pester her friends without going slightly insane. However unlike the movie like mob boss bribing corrupt officials to turn a blind eye to their shady endeavours Callie's unique form of self-bribery involved sugar, lots of it. In fact her own love of sugar and anything sweet tended to drive her dormmates up the wall given her recent habits of snacking in the middle of the night. Not that she cared much though, when a sugar craving hit who was she to deny it?
Sugar was simply a powerful motivator for the already excitable girl and it was something she'd recently applied to duelling practice. For every spell she managed to perform successfully Callie rewarded herself with a single haribo and given that she was using a family sized packet she was clearly putting in a fair amount of practice. After all she may have won her last duel but to grow to lazy with practice because of it would be foolish. Besides Thomas would probably kill her if she decided to ignore practice in favour of adding to her origami pigeon army in the common room. An origami pigeon army was important but duelling took the cake.
As she prepared her set up for practice Callie hummed along to a tune in her head, even stealing a few of her sugary reward which completely contradicted her intentions to save them as a reward. "Alright haribos!" She announced to the innocent pack of sweets. "Prepare to be eaten in record speed!" She held her cherry wood wand to the practice dummy who had an apple perched on it's head with a newfound sense of determination. "Accio!" She announced with a wide grin only to witness the spell backfire and send the apple flying across the room instead of towards her. "Pesky fruit! I knew you were bad for me! The dentist is a lying cheat!" She called out to the apple as she perhaps foolishly chased it aross the room in the direction of an innocent bystander. "Get back here!"

@Callie Jensen
Opeila was a good student. Her grades had been fine in her first year, she had let her performance in class slide a bit because of tragic events at home, but with the start of her second year, she had gone all out like never be fore. Her report card was rewarding her with one cleanly written O after the next. The Slytherin would be lying if she said that she wasn't extremely proud of it.
This was only topped by the fact that she had been picked to join the new duelling team of Slytherin. What an honor! She was getting along alright with her teammate... They weren't friends, but they weren't enemies either, so... that was fine, right? But that was also where it stopped. They hadn't even won one of their two duels. Both had been a great failure.
The first one had probably been a fair amount of bad luck. They had been up against Willow and May- who she hadn't seen in a while as well... And it had ended with Adonis sending himself flying out of the ring with his own spell and Opeila fainting under the Curse of the Bogies. And then there had been her second duel against two Gryffindor third years, who had just been very talented. The boy could hit two people with one spell, how crazy was that?! Opeila wanted to be able to do that too. Maybe she could ask him to show her sometime.
Anyway, Adonis got knocked out after only a few rounds, while Opeila... Well, set herself on fire and then got knocked out. It was just embarassing, not to mention frustrating. There was no way that the two of them were that bad!
Well, at least she had the excuse, that Adonis always got knocked out first. So... If she had a particularly bad day, she could settle on blaming him, although she would of course not admit it. Never would Opeila give anyone a reason to think that she was a sore loser.
Instead... she would simply not lose again, hah! Was that a good solution or what? Additionally to her daily jogs on the ground, Opeila would now also practice her spells, at least three times a week. That was a good plan, was it not?
But whatever the young Slytherin expected to walk into- it was not... well, that. A girl announcing to a bunch of Haribos that she would eat them in record speed and then... casting a spell on an apple. "NGH!" Opeila had never been good at ballsports, especially if the ball came flying towards her when she didn't expect it. It was the same with this apple- Opeila only ducked in time, the apple flew over her head, and through the open door she had just walked through.
The Slytherin turned around to look at the pieces of apple that were covering the corridor's floor after the fruit had exploded at the wall. "Um... Yeah, I think you killed it.", she told the girl. "Was that the plan or did you plan to kill me too in the process?", Opeila added, the hint of an amused smirk on her face. It didn't bother her that she just escaped death by an apple smashing her face in. "Are you taking revenge on food or something?"
Sorry for replying so late x.x
