2021, Stage 2 Group C: Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff

As Aida stepped up to the piste she didn’t even bother turning to look at the audience. Hearing and smelling the clamoring throng of wizards was enough of a burden to block out. No, she mustn’t turn around. If she looked behind her she would remember last time’s isolation inside the sweltering force of the crowd, and it would surely crash over her again like the tide… If only this were quidditch there wouldn’t be so many people so close inside the windowless room. Still, she had to do this. She had to confront adversity to grow strong enough to vanquish whatever threat had broken Alexander. Certainly Aida had lost memories as well, but it was not concern for herself that kept her up at night. Turning her head slightly she acknowledged Damion with a sad smile. He was such a nice boy. Maybe Aida could help bring this victory for him too. He had battled so valiantly after her previous fall.

Ever since Alexander hatched his plan to seduce Marion Aida had been letting go of things she loved one by one. Desperation told her that if she didn’t sacrifice most of what she had, they wouldn’t succeed. What could one skinny child of an albino do against such a colossal conspiracy? Slowly accepting that she would not be able to fulfill the White General’s wishes, Aida was steeling herself to sacrifice herself in the name of a singular mission. If Aida was going to give everything up for that one singular cause and break her deal with the White General, she had better win. Gone were the days of soaring with the wind in her hair or strategizing on the quidditch pitch. Gone were any feelings she could spare for the lustrous splash of mercury that was that Durmstrang boy. All she had left was honing herself, and she couldn't afford to go down so fast this time. Time gaining experience was what really mattered to her here, not the victory itself. Every moment had to form her into a more perfect weapon.

Damion was ready to duel again. He looked at his partner and smiled. "Best of luck mate" he said looking at her. He was wanting to win this duel this time. Last time he was real close. He smiled as he walked to the duelling stage and he was ready for this duel. He smiled at his partner.

Alexa stepped up onto the stage, her wand already drawn. She glanced over at her partner and smiled slightly as she watched the opposing team ready themselves. She had lost the last duel with her old partner; Alexa had been attacked relentlessly, with little time to fire off a spell. She hoped desperately to do better this time, with her new partner!

Alexa turned her body sideways to her opponents, to make herself a smaller target. When the moderator said to begin, she shouted her first spell.

May looked at her partner and gave her a reassuring smile from the other side. They had won last time, and this time they would win again. Maybe her partner's last team had lost, but it still didn't mean that 4 out of 6 teams that had won was bad. It was actually great.

May took one more step into the duelling piste, and took a deep breath as she bowed and did the requirements to start the duel. Her eyes were focused on the Ravenclaw that was going to be her next opponent, her next interaction. Bad luck man, bad luck for that one.

The duellists didn't hesitate to shout out their spells as soon as Meenauh shot the sparks. She didn't expect it all to start that fast, so she forced herself into a higher state of attention to not miss details or cheats.

Who surprised Meenauh a lot was May. The Knockback Jinx light from her wand was so bright and steady that she wouldn't envy the person who would stand in its way. The person was Aida, who, to her own good, managed to dodge the spell easily enough to not care about it.

The quick and fast movement to dodge one spell put her in the line of another. Actually a nastier one. Meenauh remembered the effect from her own previous duel. Ugh. She would consider being knocked down with a bright Flipendo rather than being hit with that. So, yeah, Meenauh couldn't say Aida was completely lucky there.

Damion was standing there watching the spells flying at his teammate and decided that the best tactics would be chaos. The flick of his wand produced the very thick fog that covered the whole stage, reducing the vision for all the casters. She never understood the reason to limit their own members with such spells. Little she knew of Aida's natural ability to see through the thickest of matters. Let's see where it all would get them.

As May casted Flipendo, she was surprised to see the light of the spell brighten in a potent way, casting it directly to Aida. For a fraction of a second, her face brightened as thought it had been a sucess, but the pale girl dodged the spell skillfully, Making May feel miserable. Why did her first good spell have to be dodged by this girl? why, why, why?!

She looked at her partner, and was surprised to see that she had hit Aida quite successfully. She smiled reassuringly at her, but then...

This other guy~ Damion, was it? Yeah, well...he seemed to have casted Fumos. For a second, May was confused. Where the hell where they? Why was there so much smoke? She tried not to inhale it~ retain her breath ever so slightly. She grasped her wand, and was prepared for her next move, making sure that she spotted her opponent for her spell...

Alexa had managed one of the most difficult curses, and not only that, but it had hit its target. She was already doing better in this duel than the last one!

For once, no one had attacked her, so she had had no need to attempt to dodge. But then the boy,
(Damion? She wasn't sure) cast this horrible smoke that made it impossible to see, and nearly impossible to breathe. Holding her arm up over her mouth and nose, she prepared to cast her next spell.

Damion was happy that their plan had worked. His spell had cast the fog and was surrounded by it now. He was hoping this plan would work. He wanted to make it harder for others to see what was going on. He had made it harder for himself too. He just hoped that this would help him and his partner. He was going to wait and see what happened next.
