Amadea could practically feel the tension that was pulsing through the air. There was good reason behind it all, though. Today marked the second stage of the duelling championships. The first round had gone rather well, and she was excited to see what was going to happen today. Now that her duel was over, her mind was clear and focused, ready to moderate this next duel. After quickly scanning the roster to see who she was moderating, Amadea made her way to the center of the room. She had experience with this now and felt less shaky as she stood in the room, speaking toward the people.
”@Mars T’ien, @Celynne Gray,” she said, ”Against @Illowy Magnard and @Erik Tharaldson.” She quickly explained to the four students the duelling rules, though she was sure they were already aware: no physical attacks, no casting at your teammate, and the first team to render the other unconscious wins. She stepped back, ready to watch. ”You may begin!”

Information
- You have 96 hours from now to write your entrance posts (50 words min)
- In the same time period, send me (Amadea Campbell) your team's actions per owl. Actions happen exclusively in owls so do not give anything away in your initial post. You can post your reactions after every mod post for each round. Please have one person send in both actions for each round.
- Failing to give actions means your team does nothing but passively dodge. Failing to post even though your action has been submitted means your action is void.
- Your spells, stats, and abilities are now locked in for this duel; you can still update your trunk but the changes will not be made for this round of duelling.
- If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask! Make sure to read up on the duelling updates. Good luck and have fun!

English ⋆ ParseltongueIn all honesty, it felt like it'd been ages since they'd last stood here. There was a thrum in the air of the Duelling Club, anxious and electric, just the same as before. It was always like this, they supposed, would always be like this, nerve-wracking and jittery. Mars grinned. Gods, they'd missed it.
Rocking back on their heels, they slipped a hand around the groves of their wand, the rough feeling familiar against their fingertips. They hadn't gotten much use out of it last round, but perhaps this time would turn out different. In any case, there was some level of trust that hadn't been there before, that they supposed only came with time. It was—weird to trust an inanimate object but so far, it hadn't failed them yet. Speaking of not failing...
Glancing to the side, Mars smiled at their partner. It was more comfortable now, seeing as they'd actually taken the time to discuss strategy rather than flying in blind, and they were reassured knowing she'd be there. Taking half a step back, they spoke,
"Ready to kick ass again?" It was Snakes this time, but they looked to be about the same as their opponents from before. Thinking back to it, Mars couldn't help but grin.
"This'll be a breeze."

-Cel had taken the time before this to loosen her wrist—careful circles and stretches to make sure that every flourish of her wand would be performed precisely and accurately. She'd chanted strategies in her head, mouthed incantations to make sure her tongue didn't trip. She had also braided the top layers of her hair back, because wow, having no hair to brush back while dueling made it ten times easier to dodge.
So yeah, she was feeling pretty prepared. Maybe even over-preparing, she really wasn't worried, but she hadn't had much to do for the rest of the day anyway. Besides, she'd found, quite peculiarly, that she actually enjoyed these games—far more than she expected when she'd joined for the hell of it, but dueling others, thinking of how to combine spells for the best effect, narrowing her focus down to just the game? It was fun.
And Cel? Cel was ready.
Joint apprehension and excitement thrummed through her veins in ways that they rarely did. She let herself feel it, humming gently and tilting her head back a little to look at her partner. "When are we not?" she quipped back breezily, and exhaled slowly and with purpose, letting the jitters out of her nerves. If she wanted to win, she should still her disposition, or it would distract her from her casting. Briefly, she nodded to their opponents—a fair bit of respect owed before she hoped to defeat them.-

Erik was as ready as could be. He had no illusions of grandeur this time. No, what the first round of dueling had proven to him was that he was a capable duelist and a severe threat as much to his very own teammate, Illowy Magnard, as to his opponents. The fair haired boy didn't even bother to listen to their names. In his head they were all derived to simple numbers. These two today would become his third and fourth victim of his dueling career. He would see to it personally. Even though he knew that he was going to show these insignificant Ravens what he was worth he was still nervous. Adrenaline was already rushing in his veins as his heart kept pumping faster and faster. The werewolf couldn't stand still. He kept jumping up and down, up and down as to physically relieve some of his nerves into the room and out of his body.
Erik cocked his head towards the side. Try to keep up with me this time, Magnard. My back is acking already from the last round of dueling. All this carrying is taking its toll.

The thrill before the duel never ceased to bore her as the four students stepped on the dueling stage. The excitement and anticipation were almost addictive, she thought, anxious to get started as the moderator went through the usual spiel before a match. All the while Illowy thoughtfully twirled her wand through her fingers, sizing up the competition.
As her partner pipped up, Illowy couldn't help but roll her eyes as her wand's spinning came to a graceful halt, "Isn't it a little early for you to be mounting your high horse, Tharaldson?" she retorted back, "Just do as I told you last time; stay on your feet." while some partners seemed to have only gotten closer since their first match, it seemed there was still no love lost between herself and Erik. Not that it mattered. At least they worked well together, and the banter reminded her somewhat if that shared between herself and her cousin. It was familiar. Almost driving. It worked for them.
From the corner of her eye, she caught the ever polite nod from the elder of their opponents, and with the shadow of a smirk on her lip, Illowy returned the gesture before shifting her stance into ready position. No nerves, no fear, no anxieties were even suggested in her face or posture; Illowy was ready.
I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

And just like that, the duel began. Amadea watched as the spells flew through the air. Both Slytherins aimed their spells toward Celynne - perhaps it was because she was older, a fourth year. Amadea knew from experience that being a fourth year seemed to be a disadvantage for being targeted in duels. Nevertheless, the Slytherins aimed their spells toward the girl. Celynne was quite busy casting her own spell, blinding the whole field with the bright light that emerged from the end of her wand.
Amadea squinted as she watched the light radiate around them. Perhaps it was because she was too busy casting her own spell, but Celynne was hit with the force of both Tongue Tying Spells that had been sent her way. Amadea cringed inwardly; one spell was bad enough, but both was another level. At least Mars seemed to be unscathed through it all - they had been ready to dodge anything that came their way, though no one seemed to be aiming toward them this round. The spells had been casted and everyone had survived. The first round was now complete. Amadea stood back, letting the duellists focus as the second round began.

The words had barely left her mouth before Mars hit the floor. This was way too familiar, they thought, groaning slightly as their hip crashed unceremoniously onto the piste. They shut their eyes, breathing in the scent of dust and grime, listening carefully for the whizz of spells above them. Nothing came.
Mars peeked out from under their arm, blinking away the blinding light. Thank god for pre-planning. The only downside was that they couldn't actively look at the field while Cel was casting, hence the mad scramble to make themselves as small a target as possible. If only it didn't require quite literally biting the dust. They pulled themselves up, shaking off their robes as they frown at the dirt.
"Well, that was only slightly pointless," they commented, eyes flicking over to the Snakes. Lumos Maxima certainly had its purpose. They waited a moment, expecting something out of their partner, but nothing came. Mars turned, half-confused, before they realized. If they weren't aiming for them, they were aiming for her.
"Tongue-tied, huh?" they mused, appraising the other team quietly. At the beginning, they'd heard the faintest hints of bickering between the two of them. Mars grinned. Incompatible partners. How interesting.
"That the best you got?" they asked, raising an eyebrow, "Shame, I expected more." Twirling their wand, they readied their stance. My gods, they'd forgotten how fun this was.

-"Lumos Maxima." No sooner had the spell left her lips that another two hit her full force—apparently she hadn't been focusing on dodging, concentrating hard on the flash that exploded from the tip of her wand. Instantly she felt her tongue curl and sighed in frustration. Of course—she was tongue tied.
At her partner's remark, Cel shrugged. Maybe pointless, maybe not, who knew. Getting flash blinded was definitely annoying—at least they hadn't gotten blinded along with their opponents. She still managed to raise an eyebrow at the other team in her annoyance, though—she'd be getting her revenge soon! One tongue-tying spell (or two, which didn't really seem to make a huge difference i her experience) wasn't going to keep her down for long.
It was up to Mars for now, though, and light amusement shone in her eyes as they climbed up from the floor. Somebody was quickly becoming an expert in falling yes that was a reference to soccer lmao. Cel drew up her wand anyway, counting on the moment her speech was returned.-
