Gargott was excited for today, as it was his first time he would be overseeing a duel. His small, but plump form made its way on the stage. "I'd like to remember both teams of the rules of dueling, you'll adhere by them or I'll stop this duel faster then you can think." He let the words linger for a bit longer as he eyed the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff students. "I wish you all a fair and honorable duel, good luck! BEGIN!"

With his left hand stowed within the pocket of his trousers, his right, chest height with the ivory-colored aspen wood wand spinning through his fingers like a drummers' sticks. Slowly the second-year Gryffindor shifted his way into the dueling arena to which he would be joined by a slightly older boy from his own house that was upon his team. Ruka, was not really a known individual to him; Zyk hoped the boy could hold his own. Stopping to where he could stand adjacent with Ruka for the time being, he'd tilt his head to the side and look awkwardly sideways at the boy with his golden irises peering towards him, "Try not to die on me," was the only words he gave, he accompanied them with a slight smirk.

Peeling his gaze back to his opponents that had joined the arena that they'd be trying to nearly destroy each other in, he held the smirk, inwardly appraising their magical value based on their age at the moment. A round thing joined them, Zyk didn't know what it was, until it spoke. The smirk on his face nearly vanished as a smile pulled at the edges of his mouth and Zykeal couldn't help but look over towards Ruka and said, "Kinda... reminds me of a bowling ball," he confided in a very hushed whisper. Regardless, the boy focused his attention after his little remark back upon his opponents and waited for the call of the ball for the duel to begin.

"BEGIN!" the ball said.

The flash of the ivory-colored wand stopped rotating within his fingers and the hilt of the wand landed perfectly within the palm of his hand. Suddenly, he slashed his wand through the air and begun the duel against the pair of badgers.

definitely wearing the friendship bracelet willow made for the huffle dueling team!
he idea of casting spells at another student, ones that she did not know, at the very least, on purpose didn't exactly give her a sense of joy. She was not competitive nor sadistic, and it didn't make a whole lot of sense as to why she was even on the dueling team. But Frost was here to have fun and ultimately become better at spellcasting for her friends, and she would not lose sight of her goal.

As she stepped onto her space on the platform, the redhead would greet her teammate, with a gentle, but hopefully reassuring grin. "Let's do our best, alright? Without a doubt, Frost would be constantly looking over to check on Lea through the entire duration of the duel. She did not know the First-year girl at all, but she knew how scary older years could be, she had been in the same boat before.

An air of calmness and warmth came radiated from Frost, even as she looked to her Gryffindor opponents. She would give them a warm smile too, as she spoke. "Good luck! If you win, I'll come and support you both in your next round, you both seem very nice." And she meant it. No joke, it was something she would do for them, perhaps even bake them cookies. Frost would like to think she was rather good at supporting people in a crowd.

She hoped that they wouldn't take any of this personally, Frost would never mean to harm others or cast any spell that was not a helpful one. Still, as Gargott signaled the duel's beginning, the redheaded girl calmly raised her wand and begun.

Brown eyes would gaze down as stepped onto the stage, spinning a friendship bracelet around her wrist while carrying her wand. It only took a few moments for her to realize that perhaps it made more sense to fiddle with the wand instead, since she would soon be using it for spells and such.

The sinking feeling didn't stay too long, though, as she glanced towards the older year. Frost- though she really only knew that because the other hufflepuff was a prefect. Lea would offer a small smile and a nod, finding a little more of the inner courage she had. No backing out now, the first year was here to try her best and attempt to help her prefect out.

The hufflepuff would take a second to glance at the gryffindors. They seemed confident, and with a reason to be. She just hoped it wouldn't be too quick of a duel.

"Good luck," the girl would whisper, hoping to gain some more confidence out of those two words. It worked long enough to hear the word "BEGIN!" echo, long enough for the idea of 'now or never' to settle in. Lea would offer a quick thumbs up to her fourth year duelling partner before raising up her wand.

His Duelling Partner was already there by the time Ruka shifted onto the stage, having opted not to wear his cloak for better freedom of movement. His wand was kept in the pocket of his grey jeans for the time being, hands patting a rhythmic One, Two, Three against his thighs as he positioned himself next to the other Gryffindor boy.

Zykeal wasn't someone Ruka was familiar with aside from seeing him around the Common Room on occasion, but he was hopeful that they would make a decent team either way, even if the way the other boy was spinning his wand between his fingers made him seem a little like a show off. The words that were muttered in his direction made Ruka bubble up a laugh as he slowly drew his wand, shrugging his shoulders. Green eyes locked with specks of gold for just a moment before he returned his attention to the stage and their opponents. "I appreciate the advice," he just said as his gaze fixed on the two Hufflepuff girls on the opposing team. He knew neither of them.

Zykeal's comment about their Groundskeeper made him bend forwards a bit to hide his laughter, but his focus was immediately pulled back to the matter at hand once the Duel was announced to begin. Shifting his position and raising his wand in the direction of the Badgers, Ruka let a confident smile settle on his face as he got ready to cast his first spell.

As soon as the words had been spoken to initiate the duel, spells were sent flying. On Gargott's red face a smile appeared and he couldn't help it. He was proud of all four students. All of them had managed to succesfully cast their spells.

But soon that smile started to waine as spells didn't hit their intended targets and were flying all over the place. The part-goblin wondered if it hadn't been a mistake to leave his armor at home. As it would've come handy right now. The keeper got pulled out of that thought as he noticed that Lea had managed to hit Zykeal with the Green Sparks Charm. Inwardly the Badger inside Gargott was jubeling and he was wishing that he could cheer as his House was the first to manage to hit their opponents. Yet, the redheaded Keeper knew that he couldn't as his job was to remain impartial whilst moderating the duel.

There would be a sudden jolt of adrenaline and fear as Lea saw the first spells fired off. One, two, went whizzing by her, quickly sidestepping the first and ducking down for the second. Such actions caused her to hold off on casting her own spell until she was finally back upright and no more spells seemed to be coming in her direction.

Frost's spell had also been cast, frowning a bit as the spell missed. It had seemed like a well placed spell, although perhaps the first year had underestimated the dodging capabilities of their opponents. "Next time!" She would note softly to her duelling partner, before focusing her attention on her wand.

"Verdimillious!" The surprise was more in the spell actually succeeding at being cast, watching it fly across to hit her target. Brown eyes would widen, bouncing on her feet a little more in excitement and pride. But the duel continues... best to not let one's guard down already.

As soon as the duel started the boy walked straight ahead, to hell with dodging. Zykeal was never one who was good on his feet in his youth, always tripping over things. Pure skill was what he was going to try and help win this duel with and he went for one of the spells in his repertoire that seemed to pack a punch first. The little first year was quick though, she seemed, quite agile. This wasn't going to be as easy as he hoped, that's for sure.

The green sparks flew towards him, a slightly boring spell that didn't hold real value besides to distract opponents, he thought. As he drew his ivory-colored wand into the movement that was needed, a calm voice resounded, "Incendio," was heard. Unfortunately, the first years' green sparks threw off the position of where he was aiming his spell and his large fireball seemed to narrowly miss the girls body. Shifting his golden hues over towards Ruka, it seemed that he and his current opponent had both missed their spells as well and he snickered in disappointment. A quick shout was made, "This ones quick!" to let the 3rd year know of his opponents' abilities.

Regardless of the beginning sequence of the duel, something needed to happen and quick. Zykeal was fully aware at this level of magic and their lack of ability to produce shield charms that this duel could end with a single spell that was well placed. Again, the boy flicked his wand, eyes constantly watching the darting movements of the two badgers before him and his teammate.

The duel’s first round was disappointing to say the least; while Ruka managed to avoid the spell thrown at him, his own Blindfolding Spell did not just miss its target but didn’t even go in the right direction.

Regardless, Ruka found himself chuckling in delight, shifting his feet into a new position for better footing. Another spell thrown his way was most likely to come soon enough and the best thing he could do was to try and find a position from which to dodge it to the best of his abilities. “Quick and has good aim, it seems,” Ruka pointed out in his partner’s direction, a bright grin on his face. He had no enjoyment in Zyk’s having been hit by the green sparks, but the excitement of the duel itself was making his adrenaline rise, a sense of feeling alive flooding his body.

Shifting his attention back to their opponents, Ruka lifted his wand once again, a bounce in his step as he took one forward for better aim. Nobody had actually taken damage yet, and one could only assume that next round’s spells were finally going to cause some.

Hopefully it would be the one Ruka was about to cast next.

In a matter of seconds, spells were flying from either side of the stage. Frost had watched both spells zoom past Lea as she dodged. She had been the most thankful that Lea hadn't been hit. Thankfully, the little first year had been fast.

"Yeah, you're right. Next time." It had been slightly frustrating, but she prefered to look at the bright side of things. At least her spell had been casted successfully, though it had missed. In an odd way, she was proud of her opponents as well. The spells they had cast were smart moves. Though she couldn't say she was sad that they had missed, it was a duel after all.

Especially toward Lea, she was very grateful. At least Lea hadn't missed."We got this, you're doing so well!" Like the older sister figure she seemed to play, Frost was proud of the little badger and felt as though Lea was enough motivation for Frost to try and win.

Again, she lifted her wand and cast another.
