Amadea was nervous, and for good reason. Today was the day that the duelling season officially began. Duelling had always been one of her favorite things to do at Hogwarts; while other students tended to drift toward Quidditch or other more thrill-seeking activities, Amadea had always loved the control she felt while duelling. This year, though, she was not only a part of the team but also the new Co-Captain. That meant that she wouldn't just be sitting on the sidelines cheering during the matches but actually moderating them instead.
The pressure was on - not only to prove herself as a worthy dueller during the season but also to prove that she was a worthy moderator as well. She would have to make sure to pay attention to all of the small details during each round to make sure that everyone was following the rules and participating in the duel as they should. No pressure at all, right?
The Duelling Championships of 2020 were about to begin. Amadea took a deep breath, trying to calm the hammering in her chest before she stepped forward. "Would @Allister-Jameson MacAllister and @Alec Mason please step forward?" she said. "You Gryffindors will be facing off against Slytherin's @Amara Dragamior and @Henry Knight." She waited for the students to all step forward before she spoke. "I assume you all know the rules of duelling...no physical attacks, spells only. Physical attacks will get you disqualified. And now...let the games begin!"

The day has arrived, it was the day of the first dueling matches at Hogwarts. The air was filled with excitement and nerves from the student body at Hogwarts as most awaited to see their house mates duel. Henry on the other hand was nervous for another reason, he was one of the chosen slytherin duelers for the team or Viridian Vipers as their team was called.
Henry being only a second year, never been on a team before but he did have experience with dueling even through most of that experience came from reading and books but still experience was experience. As Henry entered the room he couldn't help but look around as his anxiety began to loom over his head and threatened to pour down on him, he tried to ignore it as he heard his name called to the front so Henry pushed away his nerves and walk to the front where he would have his first duel on the dueling team.
The boy dressed in his worn out jeans, worn out grey long sleeve shirt, and faded greenish jacket had a shiny brooch on his jacket that was silver on the edges and in the center hung a embered stone. Henry remembered receiving it from his captain and Cocaptain the night that he was chosen as a member and rarely didn't wear it except is was almost always hidden but for that day when be would have wore it in hopes that it will bring him luck as well as the pendant that the boy was wearing, hidden under his shirt.
Henry saw his dueling partner as he was standing at the front, Amara Dragamior, the two weren't exactly friends but they didn't hate each other either since they already knew each other but they did bicker sometimes since they had contrasting personalities. Henry smiled at her as he spoke " good luck Amara," before looking over at the gryffindor's they will be dueling; Alec Mason and AJ MacAllister both second years like themselves.
Gryffindor versus Slytherin, typical they would put the two rival houses against each other but that didn't matter to Henry as he looked over at Amara before taking his out wand and taking a dueling stance, let the duel begin.

Pulling her hair back into a loose ponytail, Amara steps forward when her name is called. She sends a curt nod over to Henry, her partner in a sign of companionship. No matter how much she wants to smack him into next year, the Dragamior heir is loyal to a fault. Rubbing the emerald brooch that was gifted to her by the Slytherin captains once for good luck, Amara readies her wand. Let the duel begin

Alec wasn't overthinking things this time. He felt much more confident in his skills than when he would've a year ago.
He still had his doubts though. Like any normal person would. But they were much more tampered down . In fact, the only thought that came to his mind as what would be his downfall for this was simply just overthinking it too much. If he thought about it too much, he ought to mess up. Because he would be focused on the downfalls to what could happen. Instead of what was actually happening.
And so with these thoughts out of the way. Alec cleared his head. Taking took a deep breath, and straightening his posture. A distraction from his life thus far is what he had wanted when he signed up for duelling. And a distraction he was getting from it. It was time to test how good his skills really were. Even if it meant sort of encouraging the idiotic house rivalries, he had quite a dislike for.. Let's really see just how much that constant studying paid off. It was time to begin.Action: Doing as Arranged

AJ took a deep, long, drawn out breath. This was it. His first ever match as Captain, a role he wasn't entirely sure he deserved, was prepared for, or was even capable of performing. He tried to get all of that out of his head, shaking the nerves out of his hands.
He looked over to his teammate, Alec, the pair had never really spoken much. Everyone said that they looked really similar but AJ for his part really didn't see any similarities.
From there he looked to his teammates. Two Slytherins, he had probably seen them around the school but if you'd asked him to put names to faces with no help he wouldn't have managed. He bowed his head gently out of respect. "Am rully lookun ferward teh feecin' yeh booth tehdee." He said with a smile.
With a shaky hand, he drew his wand...

In no time, the duel had begun. Amadea watched as spells flew back and forth, hoping to hit their targets. Unfortunately, not everyone seemed to have the best luck. AJ's intended knockback jinx backfired, hitting himself instead. He stumbled backward from the impact of the spell and Amadea winced for him. Alec's spell shot off in the direction of his partner, AJ, who was able to avoid the spell despite having been hit by his own. Busy trying to avoid his partner's spell, AJ didn't seem to notice the spell Amara had cast toward him. He was hit, yet again, by another Knockback Jinx. Amadea held her breath, hoping that the boy could sustain all of these hits. It was only the first round and he was getting pummeled, she felt badly for him. Alec, probably shaken from almost hitting his partner, did not evade Henry's spell in time. He was hit by the Curse of the Bogies. In no time, he would begin to start sneezing and quite queasy.
The first round had been quite eventful; the Slytherin team now clearly had the upper hand. However, that didn't mean there was no chance for the Gryffindors to come back. It was only the first round, after all, and anything could happen. Amadea stayed silent, letting the duellists gather their thoughts and prepare for the second round.

A bitter grin spreads over Amara's face as her opponent takes her spell and his own straight to the chest. Sending this look over the Henry, she notices he was also not hit with anything. "Nice job Mason, MacAllister, maybe learn how to aim?" The taunt falls from her mouth and she looks over at her partner, "You too Knight, do better for lord's sake."

Henry watched as his spell hit it's target; Alec Mason and couldn't help a smile as he glanced over to Amara who also hit her target but also couldn't help but feel bad for the gryffindor captain who also had his own spell backfire on him and narrowly missed the spell from his partner. Henry heard Amara mention their aims before speaking to him in which he barely rolled his eyes as he replied to Amara a bit coldly " I would if I didn't need to watch the back of my power hungry partner, " Henry shot a galance at her before stating " find a strategy Dragamior instead of saying the first spell that comes to mind."
Before turning back to his opponents, he thought he saw a look of concern on the co captain and the dueling moderator's face but Henry ignored it as he turned back to their opponents as he thought of different strategies and techniques to use. Using his smarts and intelligence more than ever to make up for strengths, Henry smiled as he thought of a strategy and almost naturally his wand shot toward his opponents like a snake.

Well, this didn't go as expected. Alec supposed he should've guessed his streak of bad luck would follow him even here. But he um.. Didn't. In fact, he'd put no thought into this at all. Alec wasn't sure whether it is was a great thing to put all one's time into, anyway. He needed to regather his thoughts. They were messy again. And Alec couldn't fix them this time.
He'd almost hit AJ. That would've been enough to make Alec stop then and there. He was honestly lucky he hadn't put to much thought into the spells they'd decided to cast. Alec was too empathetic for this clearly.
His thoughts were going to have to be regathered after this. They were going to be more than just messy. Ah, well, that was going to be lovely to deal with after this.
As the boy's mind whirled from thought to thought. Alec decided that I may be best for him, at least to strategize again. While he wasn't in terrible condition now[Though it sort of looked as so]. And honestly, Alec had to admit he'd dealt with worse. This was bearable at the moment. But Alec also knew, as any sort of sane person did. That this mindset wouldn't last long. And that they may need to try something else while they had the chance.Action: Doing as Arranged
