2020, Stage 1 Group E: Hufflepuff vs Slytherin

this is an official duel thread between
@Willow Anderson and @May Moonstar vs @Adonis Thorn and @Opeila Winters
There would not be much difference between moderating a duel and moderating one of her S.W.A.G games, or so Aurelia thought. Perhaps it might be a little easier, there were only 4 players in this more-or-less straight forward game, rather than a swarm of 14 member scattered across the pitch casting hexes, jinxes and curses in all directions.

Although the duelling co-captain of Gryffindor would not be participating in any tournaments herself, she would still be refereeing the duels. Carrying grace and poise had the girl stepped up to the duelling stage. The the unnerving chill of her aura would follow in the form of a peculiar sentiment of dread bleeding into the atmosphere around. Aurelia was quite aware of the effect she had on those around her but could not fathom how it ever came to be. Nevertheless, she would greet four of the duellists with a smile.

There were the Slytherins Adonis and Opeila, two of a few others whom she shared a chaotic tent with during the summer camp. Then there were the Hufflepuffs, Willow and May, members of her club she had witness during the last S.W.A.G game. Perhaps their experience in her club would have done them some good. "I hope you have come prepared. Take your places, Hufflepuffs to left, Slytherins to the other end." Aurelia would instruct before stepping off from the stage, and out of the trajectory of any possible crossfire.

Once the duellists found their places, she would announce the start of the match, "Best of luck, you may begin."

2020, Stage 1 Group E: Hufflepuff vs Slytherin

Opeila was excited. Her very first duel would start in a few minutes. Signing up for the duelling team had been a spontanous idea, she had expected to then have to wait like for the Quidditch team, excitement in sight, but not in her reach. She had not expected to be immediately accepted.

And there she was, with her teammate Adonis who she had shared a tent with but barely knew. She was about to fight to Hufflepuffs she knew. May Moonstar, a girl who she once liked but learned to avoid after their last meetings. And Willow, who... were they still friends? Opeila hoped it a lot.

Aurelia, another familiar, was watching the game, instructed the Hufflepuffs to go to the left and Adonis and her to go to the other end. Calmly Opeila walked to the right end of the duelling stage, watched their opponents. Her left hand played with the team brooch on her cloak.
She was excited, but it was a good excitement. She was eager to start.

Like an attacking snake, Opeila's wandhand shot forwards.

Willow had been questioning over and over again about whether dropping out of Quidditch was the right choice, especially standing here preparing for her first duel. A magic duel. Against... Opeila. Who she was on greatly ambiguous standing with. Would this change anything? Hopefully they would both recognize that there was no hard feelings, no personal vendetta. Just a competition of houses, wands in their hands, and spells about to fly across a new and unfamiliar battlefield.

Adonis wasn't sure to make of all of this. He was beyond hyped for this. It was the one thing he had been eager to do since the start of his Hogwarts career. Duelling. Don was finally getting his shot at an actual duelling match. The chance to bring his house glory and pride. He was most definitely not going to be holding back on them at all, whether they were a friend or not. All Adonis really wanted to do was just be able to win every single duel within his group for the other teams they would face. The young Thorn got into position with a determined look on his face, flourishing his wand as he got ready to make his move.

Perhaps May had tensed up, the blonde would not seem to be making any move of offense or defence. Opeila, on the other hand would not miss and opportunity and raise her wand against the hufflepuff but her spell was not successful and nothing happened. Aurelia would take a step back as the young Slytherin fell victim to the hex of the Hufflepuff. But karma was on Willow's heels, almost as soon as she had cast the spell, she had been hit by Adonis' spell. The hufflepuff would feel like she was suddenly hit my a cold, a sudden nausea and mucus running freely from her nose. Someone would have to clean up the duelling stage afterwards.

Willow watched as Opeila attempted to fire a spell off at May, and ended up just not casting anything at all. She raised her wand in retaliation. "Mucus ad Nauseam!" Her spell went off without a hitch shooting out and hitting Opeila. Soon after she sent her spell across the field, she was hit with her own. Adonis had hit her with the same spell and she could already feel the gross effects of the spell. Using her sleeve to wipe the snot off she looked over at May, who had not cast anything at all. "Come on! We have to work together!"

May arrived at the Duelling area, feeling numb. Really, she felt the same way with each sport. But then, of course, she would feel better. The duel was beggining, and Opeila tried to cast a spell at her but it failed to hit her. But May couldn't fire back. She was clutching her wand, trembling. But then, Willow waked her up from her no dream daydream. With the force of a badger, she casted her spell to one of the two Slytherins.

Opeila's wandhand shot forwards to shoot a curse at May, just when she felt something hit her. How was Willow faster than her? Her concentration broke, her spell failed.
The Slytherin had not paid enough attention, she was unsure what spell hit her, but she could guess it soon enough when her nose started to run. And didn't stop. A sick feeling took over her body, as if she caught the flu in seconds. She couldn't let that distract her though.

From the corner of her eyes she could see May clutching her wand, trembling. What was the girl doing in a duelling team when she was about to back down so quickly?
At the same time as May, Opeila casted her next spell.

Shortly after getting into position to cast his spell, Adonis gave a quick flick of his wand and shouted, "Mucus ad Nauseam!" His spell instantly found it's mark at it's intended target, which was Willow. A sense of glee swelled up inside of him but also even more motivation to keep up the spells and his accuracy. It was that serious look of determination in his eyes now that once again set his sights on one of the two Hufflepuffs. Incantation after incantation. Spell after spell. Round after round. Adonis just planned on going through of the motions of this until Aurelia declared them as the victors or losers. Although, the latter was definitely not his vocabulary for duelling.

After being yelled at by her comrade, May had opted for a very offensive spell, it was none other than the fire conjuring spell. Although her spell shot out of her wand flawlessly, the slytherin was agile and the spell missed. But Willow was a bit luckier with her spell casting. In an attempt to avenge her depleting health, she would cast a tickling hex at Adonis. Adonis would cast a knockback jinx at Willow's way, however, the Hufflepuff managed to swerve out of the spell's trajectory. Colliding straight into his chest, Willow's spell would work its magic, Adonis would soon be overwhelmed by the tickles. Opeila on the other hand, would cast another knockback jinx at the pink haired huffle, the blue light of the spell shot forth and flung willow a short distance back. However, the increasing nausea from the previous spell had caused a hinderance to the overall damage caused by the spell..
