Event The Fall Ball (Masquerade)

Did Adonis expect to be late to the ball? No. Did he want to be late? Also no. Was he sort of dreading this ball due to the last one? Maybe. Was he excited to get his groove on? Yes. But! He had more than just that to look forward to for the evening. He had his date whom he had asked to attend the ball with via owl. Although, he really did suck at being one despite asking the girl himself first. Mainly due to how he was rather late right off the bat. Luckily, Katrina wasn't someone he had just barely met so it wasn't like it would've ended his relationship in general with her for being late. Compared to someone who he had just met if they were to be his date and give them a bad impression right off the bat as to the type of person they could've viewed him as.

Adonis was genuinely excited for the Autumn Ball for the most part though and most of all to be able to spend that with Katrina during it. He probably wouldn't share that information with her though. All he could do from here on out was be a good and fun date, hope that nothing would go wrong, and if something did? Then he planned on protecting her like he did at the last ball and help get others out of there as fast as possible.

His outfit for the evening had been provided by his aunt on the Thorn side of the family, since he still wasn't living with his parents at the moment but rather his grandfather and the rest of the Thorn's. Here was just to hoping it'd look good to anyone who might've seen it. He was donned in a black cloak with gold chains holding either side together, beneath his cloak was a black turtleneck that was tucked into his black dress pants. His mask was hard to describe but it had gold tracings and decals all over it but was still black for the most part. If he were to take off that mask, one would probably be end up distracted by his overall look entirely, especially his face. Perhaps he had a glow up over the summer for the most part and now he looked like some lovely creature? Aye, aye.

Upon entering the ball, Adonis took in the spectacle that the ballroom had been transformed into for this evening. It was beautiful. He would've stood there looking at it longer in awe if he hadn't remembered the date he had whom was waiting for him. Quickly, he made his way across the dance floor while looking in every direction for Katrina. Eventually, the boy found his date and chilling against the wall and straightened his posture. He then proceeded to walk over to her in a menacing way, slowly reaching into and under his cloak as if he were to pull something out and kill her like in a horror movie. Once he was beginning to get close to her face as he leaned in with an intimidating look in his eyes, Adonis swiftly reached up for his to mask off and yelled, "BOO!" in which he suddenly got into a small fit of laughter afterwards. "Hi, Kat. Sorry for being late and probably making you think I ditched you. I was late to the last ball as well if it makes you feel better. Probably not." Adonis informed the girl while raising a hand to comb into his hair.

It wasn't long that Katrina sat against the wall. Sure, if felt like forever, but in reality it was only a few minutes. It was just long enough that her rush of worry that she had been duped had faded and she had gone back to simply surveying the crowds.

Her attention was piqued once more as someone approached. They were-- almost looking like a villain, reaching into a black cloak. For a moment, Katrina was about to freak out. There was a murderer. And they were coming for her. Her hand hesitated over her wand, because she got a glimpse of their eyes. With a loud, 'Boo', Adonis ripped off his mask.

Katrina glared playfully, thanking herself for not whipping out a spell. She had deja vu of last time he had scared her and she had... well... smacked him on the face. She refrained from doing that this time. A charmed smile grew across her face. He hadn't left her, he was here, and adorable fun as always.

My goodness had he changed. Katrina listened to his apology, but, in reality, she was more than a little bit captivated by his appearance. She assumed that she had changed some too, perhaps gotten a bit more appealing Charmer ;) but it wasn't something she really thought of. But Adonis, he-- was pretty hot cute charming.

"I figured you were late..." Katrina was thankful that her hair and the darkness of the room hid her blush, "Well, no, I had an internal freakout and then figured you were late," Katrina bit her lip pensively, "I do like your outfit though, very villain coming to kill me," She laughed, a bit to herself, eyes meeting Adonis' again.

Jo had missed the beginning of the Autumn Ball, and to say it was an accident would be a lie. In fact, she originally intended not to appear at all. Lady Aithne, still sore from the scars the reunion had left them with, sent the girl no dress until the very last minute- a part of Jo wished she never had. Recently, she had been feeling a terrible sense of boredom that no frivolous dance could hope to alleviate; beautiful jewelry lost their sheen and "adventure" came without danger or reward. It was all the girl could do to lay in her dorm and stare at the ceiling for the majority of her second-year free time so far.

So what shook her from her languid apathy? Perhaps it was an unnatural sense of danger - a young prickling feeling on the back of the girl's neck that awakened her dormant Gryffindor lust to harm and be harmed in the name of some strange cause or for nothing more than a sense of excitement.

Perhaps it was the wonderful sense of secrecy and mystery that came with donning a mask that brought up old memories of skulking around with @Rafael D'Spacito in a certain person's office, searching for elusive clues. The girl hated to admit it, but memories of fun times, even with a halfway enemy, were dear to her. Of course, Jo did not delude herself into thinking that any secrecy from wearing a mask would last very long. There were a limited amount of students in the school, after all, and Jo's British-Japanese accent was horribly distinctive. The moment she opened her mouth, she could be identified from a mile away.

Whatever motivation she might have had for coming, the fact remained that she was here, now, with no intention of leaving until she had had her fun. Fun, of course, meaning a plate full of food and spying on people that she knew.

There were students everywhere in the ballroom, and their presence was compounded by the attendance of students from other schools. Jo frowned. It might be a bit harder than she thought to get some quiet time to herself.

The ghost of a cat slunk by, paying the girl no attention as she "sorry" and "excuse me" -ed her way to the food table and filed her plate with all sorts of food - most of them sweet. She wouldn't dance quite yet; no need to ruin her makeup. For now, she seated herself on a velvety chair and began to look for any students she knew. Students to avoid if she were going to have her fun anonymously. The masks made it much harder. Much more fun.

Ah!! It was Milesโ€™s first Hogwarts dance ever and he was beyond excited. He eventually decided on going to the Masquerade Ball after hours of debating it in his head andโ€ฆ well it was going to be THE BEST. He was going to do everything. Talk, dance, eat, other stuff? Well, who knows but oh MAN is it going to be the most fun thing ever to happen in the universe. Miles practically skipped the whole way to the ballroom.

Another thing. Hogwarts was full of cute boys. Like. Sure, Ilvermorny was cool. A lot of cool people, but Hogwarts? Dangerous. Thatโ€™s all Miles would say about it. Especially that one kid Miles met at that robes place. Maybe it wasnโ€™t Milesโ€™s best day, but that Earl Gray was special. Him and his little pink hair had Miles staring every day in aโ€ฆ not creepy way. Just an I-wanna-talk-to-you-again-but-anxiety way.

Maybe he should be more freaked out over his headmasterโ€™s warning, or that one elf that told him not to trust the food (guess Iโ€™ll cross off eating from tonightโ€™s list), or that last ball that happened at Hogwarts that ended with mosps flying everywhere, but the main thing Miles was concerned about was Earl Gray. Man, being a wizard child could be really stressful sometimes, even without dragons and sea monsters and whatnot.

After the Horned-Serpent officially entered the ballroom, he tried to find some familiar faces. Some Ilvermorny students, some Durmstrang, some Beauxbatons, and a lot of Hogwarts students, obviously. It wasnโ€™t crowded, but it was pretty full. It was tough to see who was there. Already becoming bored of not talking for like, three seconds, Miles made it his mission to find someone to talk to... before someone finds him!

Quinn had been quietly observing the ball unfolding before his fairly astute eyes. It was funny really, since he just assumed most would think him fairly slow or at the very least less then observant given his height and usual way of acting. He didn't mind this much though as it gave him free reign to observe as he pleased.

Unfortunately this meant he picked up on the astounding number of risquรฉ attire that the female student body chose to dawn for such an occasion. He could easily guess that many were very excited for this event, especially considering the school's troubled history with balls as of late. They always went bad but every time one was held there was sheer excitement and a sense of showman ship in the way in which people showed up. This he didn't mind but...

'Queenie it's simple. Their fashion sense isn't finely developed like yours. Their wearing dresses not fitted for their bodies and therefore look completely unflattering. I mean who thinks a child looks good in whatever the heck that gaudy form-fitting dress is. They-'

'Harlin remember what we talked about. Behave or I'm putting you back in there...and ye know I'm fully capable of doing this.'

'Oh come on! You know I'm telling the truth. I can't help the fact that I'm always right and you are just too nice Queenie. Besides they can't hear me what's the big deal?'

Quinn externally sighed shaking his head softly, not at all noticing the beautiful Dhampir approaching him. 'Harlin ah'm a gentleman and you are clearly capable of being one too. It's not right, they clearly came here with the intention of having a blast. I know we have a lot of things to work through but please try to see they're here to have fun like us...besides I promised to do the thing we used to do if you behaved remember?'

'Fine...but I'm still right and you can't change my mind on that Queenie. But if you're still holding up your end of the deal then I will behave...for now Queenie...'

Quinn sighed once more and felt something bump against the side of his leg. "Hm?" He looked down to see the most beautiful sight. It had taken him truly aback at the beauty of the girl standing before him. Her pale skin, the piercing blue eyes behind that beautiful black mask, and the dress...that beautiful red dress that complemented her strawberry red hair. "..." Ever so quietly, like the gentleman he was. The Half-Giant prefect of Hufflepuff knelt down on one knee so that he wasn't horrendously taller then Nico. Still a few heads taller then Nico he looked down staring into her eyes. A warm smile coming across his face.

"A cuisle (My darling), you look as beautiful as the full moon on a clear winter's night." His smile widened as he gently took her hand, and followed through on what his grandpa called a sure fire way to impress your love. He kissed the back of her hand staring at her directly just like his grandpa said, but before he could continue there was another interruption. He turned his attention to a very dapper looking Breana Oliveire. Rather awkwardly his face started to turn beet red.

'Wow Queenie it took you this long to recognize you're being this cringe. I thought I was bad but you clearly take the cake. Well don't keep that dapper looking boy...wait that's Breana. Well hello~ She's a real lady killer isn't she.' A snicker could be heard in his mind.

Quinn externally sighed shaking his head softly, not at all noticing the beautiful Dhampir approaching him. 'Goddammit Harlin.' Curse his luck. He quickly stood up and rubbed the back of his neck, "O-O-Oh hey Breana! N-Nice to see you here too...n-not interrupting anything at the moment...n-nothing at all." He stuttered out like an idiot mentally kicking himself. "A-Anyway um N-Nico...Breana ye both look so lovely. Why don't ye join us Breana. I saw Rosie earlier...wouldn't it be nice to form a group here. It's a masquerade after all so we should have fun right?" He slowly attempted to recover himself.

Cassanora felt her father's hand push her forward. Giving him a glare over her shoulder she walked towards the ballroom entrance, there had been no need for him to push her along. God, he was always so embarrassing. Not having bothered to find herself a dress to wear, Cassanora had instead opted for her school uniform. It would have to do, she was not here to impress. Rather, she was here to observe and simply be present. Maddie would likely be dancing, she was a professional in that. It would surprise Cass if not a single boy or girl would try and bask in some of her friend's light tonight. She would expect most, if not all, of her fellow students to be present tonight. Considering the other event being costumed, she expected more of them to flood in here.

She carefully put on her mask before entering the room. It was already getting crowded, mostly unfamiliar faces hidden behind anonymous masks. Literally a room full of strangers. Even if Maddie was going to be present tonight, there was a small chance they would be able to find each other. Of course, Cass was wearing her uniform. It at the very least made her recognisable in that facet. Casually strolling along the side of the room, she would eventually find her place next to an unknown boy (Arjan Oberoi). Taking note of his red coloured uniform, Cassanora mentally checked him on a list of people who deemed school uniforms worthy of dress code.

She gently brushed some hair behind her shoulder. The woman, no, Nora; had done a good job of braiding her hair. Cass had to admit the lady had something to her. As much as she wanted to hate her, there was something inexplicably... cool about her. Like some badass queen from some long forgotten fairytale or something. Her bright silver hair didn't do much in debunking that fantasy, Cass had to admit. Which child didn't dream of colouring their hair at some point in their teenage life?

That moment had done something inside her, made her realise that maybe that was something she missed. Cassanora loved her father more than anything. He really was a good man trying to be a father. While he obviously had his failures or areas where he lacked, more than anything she knew he would always try to be there for her. But the lack of a mother was more and more getting apparent to her. How the other girls shared their stories. Of course some of these students had miserable parents, well- most. It was almost as if they grew on bushes.

"I assume you didn't plan on playing peacock tonight either?" She would blurt out to the boy next to her. "Durmstrang's uniform. No date. Standing by the sides." She pointed out with a slight smirk playing on her lips.

Milo had been waiting a little while long for his date and nearly jumped out of his skin when a sweet voice whispered in his ear. The blonde haired boy quickly turned around, a knowing grin on his face. "Hello to you too beautiful." The first thing he noticed was that she wore a beautiful black dress, but it had a red under-tone to it maybe to represent Durmstrang? The small gesture made him really happy but he wouldn't tell her that. "I do love your mask but it's a shame it hides your lovely eyes, your outfit looks breath-taking by the way, luckily I have enough breath though." His Russian accent made his flirting rather smooth although he also slid a joke in at the end. A small sparkle was in his eyes with his next sentence. "We match, no? I am pleasantly surprised."

The boy could already tell the night would be enjoyable and there would be a lot of heavy flirting and remarks shot back and forth. He crinkled his nose at the idea of small talk, which was what he was doing. Besides talking there wasn't much to do. He glanced at the food table, although he wasn't hungry if Angel wanted something he would accompany her like the gentleman he was. Milo glanced at the dance floor. Did he know how to dance? Sure, he was raised in a formal pure-blooded family so manners, dancing and all that stuff came with the "title". Did he like to dance? Not really, no, but what else would he do at the ball. Did Angel expect him to ask her? Milo started zoning out before pinching the bridge of his nose and taking a few breaths to clear his mind. He just needed to stop thinking for the night and have fun.

What sort of date would one be for the beautiful @Xailah Alptraum if there were no flowers. It might seem queer, this giant bouquet of roses left on the lovely Gryffindor's bed. Sadly they would arrive too late. Xailah would not see the oversized arrangement of roses left on her blanket. Every last one of them black less a single red rose.

Alas, the fair maiden has already departed. Likely in the company of some degenerate. She never knew how to be content with what she already had. Leaving ME alone, a fool scented like roses and decay. Not again, not today.

Make haste!

The shifting stairs were cumbersome, but no less than a journey to the potions storeroom. I would arrive to see my precious kitten paused before the ballroom. The place where I would make her heart beat for only me. Did she sense it too, that destiny awaited her this night? That she was being observed?

Probably not, she did not seem to notice the little things. She was always looking at that girl. She could not see much when she was always looking in the wrong places. Well, after tonight she would not be looking any longer.

Xailah would catch a whiff of something familiar. A scent she had become so accustomed to it was strange that the scent was gone. This stale, aged scent as well as something new. Roses.

Ignoring the growing crowd of people outside the ballroom, he moved past them and pushed open the large doors. Lazarus boldly entered the Ballroom, donning a black outfit with a hat and mask. In fact, he looked remarkable like Zorro. It was almost as though that was intentional! His costume was wonderful, of course. It was the perfect outfit in his oh so humble opinion. Adjusting his hat, he put his hand on his hip as his eyes searched the room. He was looking for a few different people. Any familiar faces, really. Perhaps a lovely lady to dance with?

He recalled the last dance that he had attended at Hogwarts. He had warned his students to be careful for a reason, after all. Glancing around, he noticed a few figures that appeared to be students of his own school. Of course, everyone's mask - as well as their costumes, in some cases - made it a little harder to tell who was who. However, there were a few that were slightly easier to recognise. Their masks, after all, were not necessarily covering much. Students were busy mingling and seemingly having fun so far. That was always a good sight to see.

Looking over the crowd, for the taller and more easily recognisable adults, Lazarus searched... His eyes searched for the red cloak of the lady [@Maya Galim] that had welcomed him. She was going to be here, was she not? He spotted some bright red outfits but they did not seem to be her, at all. Perhaps she had not arrived yet? Perhaps she went to the Costume Party? Or maybe... she was here but within a disguise that he was failing to recognise. Ah wells... There might have been another lady he could have danced with then... He continued to search as he moved over to the food table.

In truth, the Autumn Ball was not exactly something Hjรธrdis had been looking forward to. After last year's disaster, who could really blame her? She had left the room before all of the chaos had ensued dealing with a situation that involved race-baiting. Finding out what happened afterwards just filled her heart with so much dread. Under normal circumstances, she would have taken the evening off work and stayed at home or found any other work to do. School dances, after all, were incredibly tiresome to have to manage. Children always seem to resort to violence. However, knowing that there were hags that had managed to infiltrate the ball the last time they had visitors from abroad, it worried her. She had to be there. Just to help oversee it. If there was a chance of another disaster, she would have to try and prevent it.

That being said... The day had turned out a little better than she had anticipated so far. Of course, she had yet to actually show up and would not be surprised if she walked into the ballroom to see that it was on fire. Tying a hairband around the end of the blonde braid, she admired it. She adjusted the centre 'bow' a little before she finished. There was a smile on her lips that she could not hide.

It did not take her long to finish getting ready herself either. Mostly because she was not there to impress anyone. She opted for a less extravagant dress than she normally would wear, in case she needed to run around. Her usual draping floor-length gowns were neatly stored away for the occasion. Her usual makeup and not too much jewellery. If nothing else, she was much more underdressed than she normally was. However, she was solely here to work and make sure it did not end in a complete disaster, yet again.

Grabbing her mask, she observed it for a moment. It was a cat mask that she had worn in the previous year. Most people would likely not remember. Hjรธrdis dropped a kiss on Jeger's nose, "Sorry, little guy, you're not coming with me this time," She replied to the big eyes staring up at her. It was just not worth the risk. She could not watch Jeger and do her job properly.

Before long, she was walking down the fourth-floor corridor. Quirking an eyebrow as she heard Caradoc's voice, she observed his outfit for a moment, "You don't look too bad yourself, Browne," She replied before allowing her eyes to fall on the mask that he spoke of. She could not even begin to imagine how he felt right now, "The same event would be a little foolish of them," She had no idea if the hags would show up again but if they chose to sneak in again... Having it on the exact same event as last year was a bad plan. The professors were much more aware this time. They were expecting it and looking out for them, "Either way, that's why we're here." Her tone of voice had a bit of determination underlining it. She sincerely hoped that the hags would not dare to try it again but if they did... she would be ready.

With that, she checked her wand, tucking it away. Very carefully - as to not ruin her hair - Hjรธrdis put her mask on. Mentally, she sighed as she witnessed a rather tall man dressed as Zorro walk past her and enter into the ballroom ahead. Plott. Of the visitors that had arrived, he was the one she trusted the least. And she knew her companion would agree with that. Her eyes also spotted a few students standing outside the door. A couple of Prefects, it would seem. She could not help but wonder what @Meenauh Silmataurea and @Thomas Lestrange were up to. "Him, on the other hand... Who knows?" She added in a whisper to the Hufflepuff, evidently talking about 'Zorro', "I suppose we should go check on him..." She added, turning and making her way down the corridor.

She passed the two prefects, giving them a nod of her head in greeting, as she entered into the ballroom not too long after the Ilvermorny Headmaster had entered.
