Continuation from Just Call Me Guru
Cel paced in the girl's lavatory, a book in her hands as always, her eyes eating the letters up, also as always. She'd been told to go ahead upstairs to the lavatory while her friend Mariah ran down to the Hufflepuff common room to pick up her trunk of formal apparel. Naturally, she had brought a book with her.
It was quite an interesting read, a book named Crooked Kingdom, packed with adventure and a general dearth of honor in fighting. The volume was a sequel to Six of Crows, which she had been reading during Charms that day and finished in the middle of class-- just in time, too, as Cel saw everyone else beginning to remove their wands from their sleeves and positively jumped.
Needless to say, she didn't do very well that day.
Cel was more concerned, however, about homework: she could always pack in extra practice for spells, but she couldn't magically remember what Professor Blackburn had been saying when she wasn't listening. Maybe I could ask someone else who was for notes or something, she thought to herself, then returned her eyes to the book.
Why was she pacing? Well, it was more comfortable than just standing there to read, and there weren't any chairs in sight. Unless you counted toilets as chairs, which she was definitely not. The room had been cleaned recently, it seemed, from the absence of dust graffiti on the mirrors-- very fortunate, since Mariah and Cel were going to be playing dress-up inside. She was fairly sure that Mariah wouldn't react well to having to scatter dust and dirt over her dresses.
Cel shoved a bookmark between the two pages she had been reading and snapped it shut. Someone was opening the door.
