Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
IC Date: September 5, 2021
The girls' lavatory was a haven. A godsend, really, because the stress of classes had already caught up to Maggie, much to her chagrin. And she couldn't, with confidence, come up with another place to hide out from the world. Plus, the lavatory was chock full of support always. A bit annoying, Maggie must say, because she wasn't personally interested in hearing about the ole 'you're so beautiful and 'wow, you're absolutely stunning' at the littlest bit of distress, but it couldn't be all that bad.
Maybe Maggie was just dramatizing it.
Still, the sentiment rang true. Maggie needed to escape.
She entered the bathroom with a sigh, running long, thin fingers through dark, messy hair. Finally. Alone at last.
Seemed that nobody was in the lavatory aside from her, which was a relief considering Maggie honestly couldn't stomach the thought of being around anyone at all. Anyone but her thoughts. Plus, if anyone did decide to hang around, Maggie could get nice and creative, tell them to screw off and go bother someone else. Go elsewhere.
Maggie dropped her head back against the stall door right behind her, legs falling open in a 'V' position where she was sitting on the cool tiled floor. The light danced off the tiles from through the windows, far too bright for Maggie's liking.
No matter. All she needed was herself. No distraction or irritation for the near future.
Hopefully.

Hogwarts had started again, and over the summer it seems Paige abused the privilege of having bathrooms near whenever she needed. Now, however, she only had certain times to use the restrooms, if she was lucky. Not to mention the chance of getting stuck on the staircases, there really was little time to use the restrooms.
The restrooms were also peaceful, very empty most of the time. Other people may think it weird, but the restrooms are a great place to think. And just... be. Exactly like muggle bathrooms, except for the occasional ghost or two. Speaking of restrooms, Paige had made the mistake of drinking lot's of water today. And she really had to go.
She had her bag slung over her shoulder, and she was running down the halls. Lord knows what would happen if a teacher walked by, but she didn't care. This was an emergency. She had held it for too long, way too long. Her bladder seemed to be screaming in protest as she rushed to the direction of the bathrooms.
She burst through the doorway dropping her bag on the floor. A few things rolled out, but she didn't care. She tried one stall, it wouldn't open. She ran to the next, and the next, and the next. Only one seemed to be functioning, and there was a girl who "Claimed" it. Paige didn't care. "Excuse me? Hi! Yeah uh so I reallyreallyreallyneedtousethisstalldoyoumind? She asked frantically, crossing her legs as she stood. "It's an emergency." She added, as if that clarified everything.

Maggie twiddled with her fingers and watched the light play and dance along the bathroom floor, little speckles of the white light making treads over her Mary Janes. Calming, really, and quite helpful in the event of allowing herself to just relax, play with her hair and consider all the changes in her life. And God knew there were a lot; entering a whole new world with hardly any preparation would be hard even for a muggle child.
Of course, some things just couldn't stay perfect, could they?
The (rather rude) intrusion of the other girl made Maggie look up from where she'd been focused on her knees, picking at her robes where they'd been draped over her body. And apparently this girl just really needed the stall or whatever. Well. Too bad, so sad, you snooze, you lose.
Maggie scoffed a bit and turned her head to look back at the stall itself. "It looks to me like this stall's taken," she observed, rapping on the door with a balled fist, "So no. I'm using it."
Perhaps a bit unreasonable, but Maggie wasn't in the mood today! Really! In all honesty, she'd like to tell the girl to just scram, but she could see her leaving organically once Maggie really let her have it.
After all, this girl, judging by that tie, was a Hufflepuff. Whole lotta pushovers, those ones.

Paige felt her heart drop from it's rightful place as she groaned. Then, she frowned. "What the HECK?! You're not even USING it! What, do you want me to bust down a stall door and use them? They're out of order!" She cried, squeezing her fists together. "And I REALLY have to go!" She yelled.
"How would you like it if I wouldn't let you go?" She asked, feeling as if the world might end. "Go to another stall that's out of order, seeming that you don't have to go!" She shouted with gritted teeth. "So move your~" She looked at the girl's robes. "Slytherin butt out of my way. Because you don't want to stand in the way of a girl who has to use the bathroom."
In any other situation, she would be calm about this. She would discuss what she wanted and why, and everything would be worked out. But no, not right now. She could barely think over the sentence bouncing around her head.
I have to go
I HAVE to go
I have to GO
"Listen. I'm sorry to interrupt whatever you're doing!!!" She started. "But I really don't care. When nature calls, I answer. So move it." She snapped, starting for the stall.

Ordinarily, Maggie would have little to no issue with giving up the stall so that some girl could use the restroom. Really. She wasn't opposed! Not at all. But honestly? She wasn't feeling it and she didn't like this girl's attitude and she couldn't stand the way she was just trying to take the stall, now. It was karma, after all.
"I said no. You deaf or something?" Maggie retorted, moving to block Paige's attempted intrusion with an arm raised and fist clenched to harden her muscles. The elbow jutted out at an angle, sturdy against the stall door. "Nature can take itself down to the abandoned toilets if it really cares so much because I sure as hell don't."
Didn't care, didn't care, didn't care. By Maggie's standards, it wasn't that hard to understand, but she didn't know how truly dumb Hufflepuffs could be, so. There was that.
It was like Paige just couldn't take a hint. Take a hint to bugger off, to leave her alone and let her have the freaking stall. She could hold it or something because Maggie wouldn't be giving the stall up if it killed her. Perhaps a bit of an extreme measure, sure, but she frankly didn't care! First come, first serve.

The girl moved to block Paige's move, and she was outraged. If she didn't really have to go, she wouldn't care. But she really needed to go. "And I said I have to go. So move your arse, girl!" She said. And right then, she didn't feel like her "Everybody makes mistakes, maybe they're having a hard day" kind of self. She felt like her "this person better watch their step or else" kind of self. The angry wolf inside of her was roaring and trying to claw it's way free.
"Yes, It can but nature has been waiting too damn long and if I run down there, it might just not want to wait any more!" She yelled. She tried to push again. She took out her wand and pointed it at the girl. "If you don't move, I'll hex you! I know some good spells, you know. I'm a second year!" She shouted as if she was trying to cover up a lie. Which, in a way, she was. She didn't study much, and her spells would rarely work. She had good accuracy for when her spells did work, but that was it.
"I swear if you make me pee my pants I will tell my best friend to hex you so bad! He's a really good duellist!" She shouted. She put her wand away and really was starting to get mad. She paced back in forth, so she wouldn't pee her pants.
"Go hog another stall that's broken!" She argued, still not giving up. If push came to shove, she would... well... shove. Which she totally could. She was extremely strong. The girl looked really light, too. "Look. If you don't move, I will see how far I can throw you. " she said, with more bravery than she felt.
"I'm warning you.." She said. "You have 5 seconds to move out of my way!" She said. She started to panic. "5.... 4.... 3..." She started. "You better move, girl!" She warned.
"3 and a half.." she was stalling. She really didn't want to shove the girl. ut she could. She really could.

"Oh my god. I literally don't care," Maggie droned, finally standing up and crossing her arms over her chest as a sort of defiant gesture. "Shut up, dude, I just don't care."
Sure, her best friend would hex her. So scary. Maggie was shaking in her boots, terrified for her life.
In reality, Maggie truly didn't care. She wasn't the bravest, sure, and had a little bit of nervousness bubbling under her skin like boils or a rash, but she wasn't scared of Paige Grant. In fact, she could care less about this mysterious best friend. Didn't care that he was such a good duellist and would hex her so bad.
Really, Maggie wasn't fully convinced that Paige had any friends. So. There! Ha! Take that!
Really, Maggie thought that she would like to leave. This was a dumb argument that honestly didn't matter one bit, but now that she'd gotten into the groove of things, it could honestly be humiliating to back down. Even if it meant getting into a fight.
"Well I'm, like, super strong. So. I'd like to see you try," Maggie was not super strong. Not at all. She could dodge punches, sure, but she just wasn't particularly skilled in the strength area. Paige didn't need to know that. "You're not scaring me. You're honestly just being a hindrance to yourself because you could probably be to the other toilets by now."

"..2... " She counted in a warning tone. Paige snorted. "Ha! Your arms look like twigs!" She retorted, suddenly becoming really mean. "You know what's funny? I agree! Let's see me try. I probably won't need any effort at all!" She sneered. Choosing to ignore Maggie's comment, she crossed her arms. Her pee could wait. She needed to fight for justice! For the need to use the bathroom!
"... 1!" She said, finally done counting. Finally done waiting, and being nice. It was ridiculous, but at that moment, it did not seem crazy to Paige at all. She would get into a fight if she had to. She wasn't back down, not now. She had gone in too far, and it seems Maggie had, too. "Let's see.. how little effort do I need to shove you? I might even lift you!" She siad, feeling suddenly... reckless.
She didn't even think about the consequences, not now. She advanced on Maggie, reaching for her arm to grab her. Feel free to dodge.
If she grabbed her, she would shove her aside. If she missed, she would scoff. "Quicker than you look. Alright." She shook her head. "You can just move, girl!" She warned. If she had missed before, she would attempt to shove again. She had good accuracy, so she had some faith in herself here.
If she succeeded, she would smile. "Sorry, I warned you." If she failed, she would get really mad. " Oh my gosh, just MOVE!" She was being blinded by her anger.

Maggie stood her ground, secure and sturdy where she was planted. Her feet were a little ways apart, providing her with a good foundation to keep herself still. Wouldn't be moving from this spot, no, sir!
When Paige reached the end of her countdown, Maggie snorted. She wouldn't go for it. Coward. Couldn't see Paige doing anything to get her pristine fingernails dirty, going for someone any way other than vocally. So imagine her surprise when Paige really did, reach for her arm. Of course, over years of harassment at school and multiple pairs of broken reading glasses, Maggie had picked up quite the reflexes. She leaned sideways, out of the way of Paige, smirking softly to herself and leaning against her arm and the wall for additional support. "Nice try, loser."
Maggie, famously, had no concept of a filter from brain to mouth. That was fine, though, because at least she was honest. "You know, this is pretty sad. I thought second years had some maturity, you know, walked away from situations instead of fighting first years--" Unfortunately, trying to give someone the verbal smackdown wasn't all that beneficial when they were coming for you, and Paige landed the blow, successfully shoving Maggie to the side.
"Oh my god. What is your deal? It's a bathroom stall. And I had it first!" Maggie groaned, stamping her foot. Evidently not the best loser.

Paige snarled at Maggie. "DON'T call me a loser, thank you!" She retorted. "Because I have won many many sports games." Not the point. Not relevant. Not important. It just blurted from her mouth, oh well. But Paige would not give up. In fact, she rarely gave up. Like ever. Not even when a werewolf had a death grip on her leg with it's mouth as it was hanging over the edge of a hill, making her start to slide down too. Nope. She didn't even think of giving up then.
Maggie, however, did not know when to stop. She was, apparently, "disappointed". Well to bad, so sad. Go cry in a corner. Out of Paige's way. "You know what's sad? Someone thinking that sitting against a stall is more important than actually USING it! Or, how about this? Thinking-" Paige shoved Maggie a bit harder than she meant. "That you could get away with being a jerk! I don't care what year you're in!" She yelled, huffing.
She placed a hand on the stall door protectively. She watched Maggie get thrown aside, then throw a little fit. Paige rolled her eyes. "My deal? My deal is that I have to pee. And like you said. This is a bathroom stall. Bathroom stall. Do you know what bathrooms are for? I don't care if you had it first, you were fricken sitting against it! And I had to use it! I still do!" She opened the stall door.
"Go lean against another stall, weirdo. You know, I always say don't judge a book by it's cover. But I should of known by your robes that you're as mean as they say about Slytherins. Snake through and through, huh?" She asked. Paige was also a Hufflepuff, but a bit of a Gryffindor. She shared that same annoying dedication and reckless bravery. But she also was loyal and hardworking like a Hufflepuff. And just like a badger, she could be feirce. She shut the stall door.
Finally.
