With green eyes and ginger hair, Effie is an averaged-height girl who has long, straight hair and bangs, and wears large square glasses. She often wears her hair down but will sometimes tie it up in a French braid or bun. She has fair, but slightly pale skin, and has freckles across her face and shoulders that come out especially in summer. Her face is oval shaped, and she has thick eyebrows, round eyes, and a pointy nose. She has rosy cheeks and full lips, and has a broad smile. Her teeth are slightly crooked. She has long legs and is generally slim. Overall, she seems friendly and kind.
Effie is a spirited character, who once you get to know is very genuine and confident. At first glance, she may seem more shy and neutral, but around those she knows well, she can be outspoken, resourceful, and energetic. She can sometimes be nervous, more so in uncontrollable or unknown situations, and can be found fidgeting or biting at her lip. She prefers cold weather, and often laughs at her own jokes. Sometimes she will talk to herself out loud, and is also quite clumsy- losing things like her glasses or important homework a lot.
At home, Effie lives with her parents and her 2 younger siblings- a brother and a sister. Her mother (Lucy) went to Hogwarts and was in Hufflepuff. Her father (Oscar) is a Muggle. Neither of her siblings have been to Hogwarts yet, but her 9 year old brother (Jasper) has had his first instance of magic. Her 4 year old sister (Phoebe) is yet to have one. They have 2 family cats- Lyra and Rigel. She gets on well with her family, but can't wait to have some independence away from her younger siblings and slightly overbearing parents.
Effie's first instance of magic happened because of her cat, Lyra. When Effie was 6 years old, she was playing outside the front of the house with her cat when suddenly it ran towards the road, having spotted a small animal moving. There was incoming traffic, so in urgent fear, Effie instinctively reached out a hand, which caused some sort of magic to stop Lyra from running into the road. It made her feel dizzy and out of breath, so she went back inside with the cat and told her mother.
