Selena Avery Romano is British-Argentinian, half-blood witch born on August 8th of 2015.
Selena is slightly taller than the average, standing at 146 cm tall. She has brown, tight but voluminous curls (3B/3C type specifically) that frame her face. It easily goes past her shoulders, but not past her waist, somewhere in between. Her eyes are a brownish green, and her eyebrows are straight. Lastly, she has a straight nose and full lips, and there is a beauty mark near her cheek.
Mentally, Selena is an intelligent, observant and overall calm girl. She tends to observe before acting, a habit she inherited from her mother. She is expressive and emotional, but tries not to let these control her. Her thinking isn't lineal, so she can reach conclusions quickly, but can't always explain how she got there, which is something that frustrates her teachers quite a lot. However, her academic performance is brilliant. Selena really values honesty and direct communication, as she often misunderstands the subtle hints the other person drops. She tries to avoid unnecessary conflict, though she is easily irritated by passive-agression, disrespect or miscommunication, still she will adress issues clearly when needed. Finally, she is loyal and protective over those who she trusts, though it takes time to build that level of trust for her. Once that trust is broken, it's hardly repaired, and will never be the same.
Selena was born in England, Birmingham, but spent her first 8 years of her life in Argentina, making her first language Spanish. Her mother is a well-known witch (Half-blood) from Argentina that dedicates her life to magizoology. Isabela Romano, her mother, studied in Castelobruxo and later returned to Europe for work, bringing Selena with her. Before Hogwarts, both in England and Argentina, Selena went to a muggle school, where she started learning english and became fully fluent in it when she went to England. Later on, during her Hogwarts years, her mother still has muggle tutors come over so that she has a truly complete education. These decision resulted in an open mind and broad and flexible perspective. Her father is an English wizard (Pureblood) who died when she was a newborn after a potion he was making went wrong and exploded, hence why her mother decided to move to Argentina after her birth. As a result, Selena was raised by her mother only, who encouraged critical thinking, emotional awareness and responsibility, as well as teaching her to be comfortable around all kinds of creatures. To end, Selena didn't grow up with a big group of friends and instead had a few close friendships and spent a lot of her time with her mother, who taught her about magical creatures, leading to her passion about them.
Her first instance with magic happened when she was around 5.
Selena sat on the counter, legs swinging impatiently as she watched Isadora prepare breakfast. There was a cup near the edge, her favourite, which she accidentally knocked over in a harsh movement. She leaned forward instinctively, trying desperately to catch it, but it stopped for barely a second, then it dropped the last inch gently. Selena stared at it for a moment, then jumped down and grabbed the cup, turning it in her hands, and felt the need to add: “I didn’t touch it!” Isadora turned, walked over, picked up the cup, and tried to explain as simply as you can explain accidental magic to a 5 year old.
