"I’m Sonoko Takeda. I was born in Atami, Japan, into a wealthy wizard family. I was named after my mother since tradition or something, she was poisoned by a venomous tentacula when I was around 2 after an accident with my father and I don’t remember her properly. It’s sad but I’ve accepted it. I don’t dwell on it much. They/Her

My father, Hozumi, is a herbologist. When I was five, he moved us to a small wizarding village in Blackwood, Wales, so he could keep working. He spends almost all his time in his greenhouses, and sometimes I comment that the plants might have eaten him, he’s so obsessed. My older brother, Akano, goes to Mahoutokoro so he’s away at school most of the time. We’re close but we don’t get to see each other often and my father says he is very alike my mother. My distant family is kind, but they don’t contact us much. I get it. We’re not super close but I know they care in their own way.

I’m 4’9”, with a lean, wiry build from years of climbing. My skin is light olive and my eyes are an olive green. My hair is shoulder-length, dyed deep purple with two front tendrils that are longer and curl slightly at the ends. My natural hair is a dirty blonde, like my father’s. I dress practically and neatly when I can and I don’t have my ears pierced yet though I do hope that changes. People say I have a low, calm voice and I guess that’s true.

Life in Wales was lonely at first. School was never really my thing, but my tutor, Madam Winderherst, became one of my best friends. I don’t like jokes or violence, and I prefer being on my own most of the time. I like photography, reading, and gardening with my dad. I’m stubborn and don’t like asking for help. I’d much rather do things myself. I’m good with logical stuff but not so much with things like animals. I’m overprotective, disciplined and independent. I don’t trust easily but I’m polite to strangers. I value truth, independence, loyalty and justice above almost everything else.

When I was six, I was playing with my father’s shovel, digging holes in the garden. Suddenly, it just levitated before dropping back down. I wasn’t surprised because magic was normal in my family but it was still weird to see it happen like that. It was my first real memory of my own magic but i've been getting better since then."
