Saffron is brunette with thick shoulder-length slightly wavy hair. She has brown eyes, a gap between her front teeth, and a few freckles. She is of average height and build, and always has her nails painted in different colours and accessories in her hair.

She is usually cheerful and loyal to a fault, but can be very sharp-tongued if someone has upset her. She is perceptive, but sometimes has her head in the clouds. Although she struggles herself, she always lends an ear and tries to help those around her. She is very creative, however is possessed of an overactive imagination.

Saffron has a muggle father and a witch mother. She gets on very well with her mother, but often argues with her father, as he disapproves of magic on the whole, believing it to be 'sinful.' She has an older brother (two years older) who she is close with. She grew up in a relatively rural area, and attended a local primary school, where she made a few tight friends.

Saffron's first instance of wandless magic occurred when she was eight years old. Upon noticing a butterfly with crumpled wings, she carefully picked it up and promised to it that she would take care of it. After these words, a strange glow encapsulated the insect, and it flew away, wings restored.
