Roxie (Roxette) is pretty, with a splattering of freckles across her face, dimples and onyx brown eyes. She is rather tall for her age (153 cm) and often gets called a "bean sprout" by her extended family back in China. Her hair is shiny, straight and jet black—it's what she tries to embody most: perfection.

While at first glance she seems to be talkative and have boundless energy, Roxie is introverted at heart and often passive-aggressive. She has high expectations of herself and hates when she doesn't reach her goals, especially with her grades. Although she has many close friends, she prefers to be self-dependant and secretly closed off. She knows just exactly how many secrets to tell to form trust, but always keeps the important ones to herself. It wouldn't take someone who knew her well to describe her as mature, emotionally intelligent, funny and charismatic. The only thing "uncharismatic" about her is that she can't handle crying and is horrible at comforting people—including both herself and others. The only time she ever lets herself properly feel her emotions is through her private diary entries and the short stories she likes to write.

In the Muggle world, Roxie has a family of four: her mother, father and older sister. While Roxie's parents are loving and care a lot about her, they aren't exactly the best at parenting. Alongside the factor of Roxie being extremely independent, this has lead to their relationship being pretty distant. On the other hand, Roxie and Raelynn (her seven year older sister) are the definition of sisterhood—other than herself, Lynn might be the only person that Roxie trusts and relies on. Lynn is also a witch, and she is the reason Roxie wasn't surprised when she got her Hogwarts acceptance letter.

Roxie had known she was going to get accepted since she was five—it had barely been a year since Lynn had gotten her own letter when Roxie had her first instance of magic. She had simply been at home, reading a book when she when she had sneezed. But instead of whatever sneezy liquid that was meant to come out, glitter sprayed everywhere. She had panicked for a second before the glitter evaporated and the realisation hit. Since that day on, Roxie had been silently counting down the days until she would get her letter.
