Physical Description:

Lazaro Stulpt is a man in his thirties whose appearance seems almost deliberately forgettable. This wizard stands at an unremarkable height, just shy of six feet, with a medium build that rarely draws an eye in a crowd. At first glance his features suggest East or Southeast Asian heritage: straight black hair that appears finger-combed away from his face, dark almond-shaped eyes, and an even complexion that neither pales nor flushes easily.

Yet people who have spoken with Lazaro twice sometimes feel an odd flicker of uncertainty. While Lazaro's face never appears dramatically different, small things seem to shift in ways that are difficult to explain. The angle of his jaw might seem slightly sharper one day and then softer the next. His hair seems to sometimes fall differently even when it has clearly been combed the same way. His eyes may appear darker in one light, lighter in another. None of these deviations from the expected are dramatic enough to notice in the moment, but later acquaintances might struggle to describe Lazaro with confidence.

When he stands still, Lazaro gives the impression of being slightly out of focus; not physically blurred, but subtly difficult to fix in recent memory. His expressions are calm and controlled, though occasionally there is a faint stillness to his features that can feel just a touch uncanny, as though his face is always settling into the version that best fits the moment, like an actor trained for the part.

Those who pay very close attention might notice something else: his features seem to respond to his thoughts more fluidly than most people's - an eyebrow shifting a little too precisely, a faint tightening or smoothing of his expression that happens a fraction too quickly. As if he knew the lines and the accompanying expression before their time.

Mental Description:

Lazaro is thoughtful, patient, and quietly analytical. He knows how to play numerous roles and can play them out with an uncanny confidence that some might consider unsettling as some are left to wonder what sort of man is Lazaro actually. Thus far, no one is certain. He has the sort of mind that prefers observing a room before speaking in it, but will often plan his encounters days if not weeks before they transpire. While not particularly loud or outwardly ambitious, this is just one of many masks he dons in his day-to-day.

Biography:

Wouldn't you like to know...

Lazaro's early life was quiet, structured, and uneventful in ways his traditionalist, pureblooded family valued deeply. The wizard grew up in a modest magical household in a busy coastal city where the magical world brushed against the mundane one more often than most people realized. Salem Massachusetts was well-known for their witches, it was quite ironic how true those stories were. His mother worked as a magical archivist, preserving old spellwork and historical records for MACUSA, while his father ran a small shop repairing enchanted household objects that had outlived their original charms. His childhood home was orderly and patient with books stacked neatly, magical artifacts taken apart and rebuilt on the kitchen table, and conversations filled with idle chatter and laughter.

For most of his childhood, Lazaro fit comfortably into the rhythm that was expected of. As a child, he was observant, quiet, and curious in a way that made teachers describe him as "reliable" or "easy." People that cause no issues are often the "easy ones". easy to like, love teach, attend to. Lazaro attended Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in America, where he developed a reputation for being capable without ever seeking attention, the antithesis to that he became as an adult. As a child, professors appreciated him and classmates sometimes forgot he was in the room until he spoke and revealed he had been listening the entire time.

During pureblood's later years at Ilvermorny, Lazaro briefly assisted a visiting magizoologist of considerable reputation, a man well known for his work studying magical creatures whose very existence blurred the boundary between beast and wizardkind. The opportunity was considered prestigious, Lazaro should have felt honored and initial he did. Lazaro traveled with the magizoologist and his assistant for a short period, helping catalog behavioral patterns and magical signatures.

However, something changed during that time. When Lazaro returned, he was quieter than before. Not traumatized in the obvious sense, he never offered a dramatic story of am attack or disaster, when asked how his time was he would always reply simply with "it was magical. It was fine." But those who had known him truly, noticed that he had developed a peculiar way of watching people, mirroring their behavior as if attempting to remember how to "act human" or perhaps to identify what made one inhuman. Some would say, it felt as if Lazaro was measuring something beneath the surface. Conversations about magical creatures no longer interested him in the same way they once had. Where others saw complexity or wonder, Lazaro seemed to focus on instability, unpredictability, and the ways certain lineages refused to behave according to expectation.

After leaving Ilvermorny, he spent several years moving between continents: America first, some say he got into acting. Then across the Atlantic. As for the details of exactly where he had gone, who he had become and what that had cost the world, that is not really a story for here.

First Instance of Magic:

Lazaro's first accidental burst of magic happened when he was seven. His parents had feared that he would be a squib, the never said anything in front of them but there was whispered discussions about "what if he was broken" and his mother's fear that they might need to send him away. Lazaro was well-aware that wizards had magic and his had yet to manifest, the prospect of being shipped off, not to Ilvermorny but rather to home place for rejected, unwanted not-quite-wizards.

He did not notice how the color drained from his bedroom, the color leeched in his sorrow. In the blink of an eye, what had changed to a a greyscale returned to full color, he was never aware of the change behind him. That knot of anxiety burdened him and his family until he was admitted and wielded his first wand.
