Physical Description: Ophelia has dark, straight silky hair and neat bangs framing her bright, open face that’s almost always softened by her smile. She is wasian, her genes mostly appearing Chinese, with little to no traces of her white genes. Her eyes are wide and lively, and sparkles with curiosity, the kind that makes the world feel kinder just by believing it is. She seems to glow from within, and she carries a gentle, ethereal cheer, as if joy comes to her naturally. When looking at her, she seems effortless.
Mental Description: She is kind, joyful, and extremely optimistic, but also remarkably insightful for her age. She is able to pick up on small changes in tone and expression, which allows her to read most people with quiet accuracy. Instead of misusing her knowledge, it deepens her kindness, as she often understands when someone needs patience, encouragement, or space. Ophelia has many of her own unspoken problems, but she still meets the world with empathy and hope, choosing gentleness even when she knows how complicated people can be. She always believes rough events can get better, and wants to help everyone around her to find a reason for living. When she’s upset, she usually isolates herself and shifts her joyful exterior completely, and unconsciously.
Biography: She grew up in a rich, well off family where everything looked perfect from the outside. Her parents were divorced, with shared custody, and she often moved a lot, even as a kid. Ophelia's dad lived in London, Europe, and her mom lived in Nanjing, China. Her father was an Auror from a pure blood family, and he always valued safety, happiness and bravery. Her mother, a muggle psychiatrist, was calm and thoughtful, and valued rules, knowledge, and status. She tended to keep her emotions calm and practical. They both loved her dearly, but they showed it in very different ways. As a kid, she often had to figure things out on her own.
Even so, her childhood wasn’t unhappy, not in the slightest. She grew to be a really optimistic kid, who laughed easily, did well in school, and was known for being kind and positive. Still, being half blood in a very proper family made her feel a little out of place at times. She learned to read people quickly and stay cheerful, and usually used her insights to help people. However, while Ophelia was really emotionally and academically smart, she lacks body strength. Her body is extremely fragile and weak, not being able to handle much.
First Instance of Magic: Ophelia’s first instance of magic occured when she was six. Her mother took her to visit her aunt’s estate. As they walked through the gardens, her aunt spoke sadly about how the plants had been wilting no matter what she tried. Ophelia trailed slowly behind them, always kneeling down to look at the drooping flowers and dead leaves, feeling a present ache she couldn’t explain.
She stopped, and knelt beside a dying plant, thinking how unfair it was that something so pretty was being left to fade. Without meaning to do anything, she reached out, and the garden seemed to shimmer back to life. The leaves lifted, the colour returned, and flowers sprung back. The adults froze in shock, while Ophelia smiles brightly, unsure of what she’d done, staring at the flowers in awe.
