Her mother is an art curator, while her father manages the family's property and their foundation. She is raised in a cultured, disciplined but loving environment. Jasmine attends a private all-girls primary school, where she became close friends with the whimsical and intuitive Luna. Her grades are above average. She also participates in the school orchestra as a violinist. Her upbringing, a combination of arts, travel and history, makes her independent and curious in nature.

Jasmine's first clear experience of magic came at the age of seven, when she and her family visited her grand-parents in the Scottish Highlands. When playing a chess game whith her mother, she was frustrated with her queens position on the board. Suddendy, the black queen glided across the board and rearranged herself into a perfect checkmate formation. Her mother and Jasmine looked at the chessboard in surprise. While her parents couldn't understand such a curious events, they also tried their best to support their daughter. So when Jasmine's letter arrived the family felt a big relief and pride for their daughter.
