Born to a muggle family, August is the only child out of three to possess magical affinity. He had the pleasure of attending Hogwarts from 1992 to 2000, or perhaps rather the displeasure due to the rise in conflict surrounding and ultimately culminating at the school. In 1998 he was forced to take his family and run due to his blood status.
He returned to Hogwarts to finish out his schooling, passing his OWLS with flying colors to fast track into becoming an Auror. And while his ultimate goal was to become one of the esteemed dark wizard hunters, he worked for the Ministry under the Department of Magical Law Enforcement for a time before becoming an Auror at age 30. His Muggle siblings are estranged and blame him for what happened to them.
August hasn't let this deter his drive to protect the things he cares about. He excels at his job through his drive to succeed and be better than he was even the day before. The competition isn't necessarily with his peers, but with himself. Some could say he's charismatic, friendly, and rather optimistic, and while his past does drive him, he doesn't let it weigh him down. His first big case regarding the investigation of a possible dark wizard leads him to Hogwarts once again, and he is quite eager to crack the case.
