Arabella Noel Fontaine was born to a moderately wealthy wizarding family in the countryside village of Godric's Hallows to two doting parents, and an older sister with an impressive knack for magic. Arabella’s earliest memories in the cradle were of her sister letting out sharp gasps and giggles, as bubbles exploded out of her hands, while her parents grinned and spun the girl around, praising her.

No such thing happened for Arabella. Her family waited, patiently, though. There was no way that daughter was a squib! The older Arabella and Tia got, the more obvious it was that Arabella did not have the same inherent magical abilities as her sister.

Her parents tried everything, but nothing would expose Arabella’s dormant magic. Her mum and father gave up hope that their daughter was anything less than a squib, and started to shun the small child, spending most of their time with Tia, teaching her about Hogwarts. Even if they never said it outloud, the whole family knew that Arabella was a dirty squib, and that she had no place in their home.

Arabella became used to the scorn, to her chagrin, and kept her head down. Life was lonely for the girl, and on Tia’s 11th birthday, she got her Hogwarts letter, and the family was overjoyed. Everyone but Arabella, who wanted nothing more than to visit the legendary school. The same day, her mum announced that a third child was going to be brought into the family, an 10 year old pure blood boy named Arry, from a family that had mysteriously passed away.

Although Arabella’s family wasn’t outright disdainful towards her, Arry was. He would poke and prod at Arabella, claiming it was to bring her magic out, and her parents would do nothing. When Arabella was 11, after a year of mercious bullying from her new brother, and a blind eye from her mother and father, a letter came, addressed to Arabella.

It was not her Hogwarts letter. Rather, it was a letter from a school that her parents had bribed Arabella’s way into. A boarding school in America, and a foster family that would be taking care of her for the duration of her stay at the school. The point of the letter was clear. Arabella’s family was shipping her off.

And so she went.

Arabella came back home to Godrics Hallow when she was 18, full of rage towards the family that had left her, and bitter towards the magical world that she should of been a part of. Her sister was 19 at the time, and already was set up for a ministry job, while her adopted brother was getting ready to go into his final year at Hogwarts.

It was awkward and horrible to see her family again, but even worse, they seemed to miss her. Arabella’s mother looked at her with a mix of pity and sadness, and when the family claimed they would do all they could to make Arabella happy, they weren’t lying, exactly. Weeks passed, miserably in the small house, but Arabella waited. Her luck finally shaped up, when Arabella was offered a position at Hogwarts. It wasn’t anything special, just a janitorial position, but it was good enough for Arabella.

Anything was good enough, really. All she wanted was to see the magical world, and now she finally would. Even though her life was hard, Arabella is still sweet, and loves to talk to the children of Hogwarts, not faulting them for her own misgivings. She is delighted to socialize with children of all ages, and hopes to brighten up their days, the best she can.
