Physical Description: A pale first year with a splattering of faint freckles and darker moles across her face. Dark shoulder-length hair frames a round face with untidy locks. Her profile has a subtle silhouette save for a bulbous nose. Light scatters on upturned, broad grey eyes in perceived shades of blue and green. Whenever out of her robes her attire will consist of rompers and T-shirt frocks in muted florals. She has been frequently likened to a toad and less so to an owl.
Extra: Avatar was drawn by the lovely Alpinia.
Notes for me: Current height is 4'9". Adult height will be 5'7".
Mental Description:
"Composure doesn't deny chaos; it works through it."
Rin (pronounced Reen) doesn't tie her hair up because a stray strand where it supposedly shouldn't be is a non-issue. She remains calm in a crowd because trying to talk over everyone feels like a competition and the girl is decidedly not competitive.
Should her cheeks flush with color it likely be due to an illness or a biting wind. She rarely spirals and loses herself in what ifs or discomfort. While she will be someone that sleeps until the wanning minutes before class she is able to wisely manage her time enough that those not privy to the habit would likely come to the opposite preconception.
She may initially come off as entirely nonplussed; her interests rarely brought up in casual conversation. Her face can be expressive though and her voice capable of a pitch change.
To experience Rin animated one only has to make an inquiry about dirt and what it may hide. Where many a witch and wizard look to the sky she is enamored with the secrets the earth sequesters; the makeup of soil her stars and fossils her constellations. Similarly she enjoys a good story, but not nearly as fervently.
Her relatives incorrectly assume she has an interest in herbology and to this day gift her starter seeds and quaint muggle garden decor. She never bothered to correct them.
Biography:
First Instance of Magic: It happened when she was eight. While helping her father dry dishes she accidently snapped the handle off of a mug. It miraculously repaired itself along with packaging in the nearby recycling bin.

Biography:
Reducio
Noirin's mother a struggling uni student when Rin was conceived agreed to give sole custody over to the father, Hendrick. He studied journalism to completion with only the rare visit from friends and family to help with the newest Polkinghorn.
From Rin's perspective her father has it all figured out. He leaves in the morning with food in his mouth and none of his work forgotten because it's all visible beneath his arms. Others are sluggish when they should instead sleep in and prepare faster. She confuses Hendrick's haphazard morning dashes for efficiency. His job at the paper may have subconsciously endeared histories and theories of histories onto her.
It wasn't an aha moment that led to her obsession with dirt. It was as simple as a child liking how it sometimes had sparkles and expanding upon that as she aged. Her current style evolved into what it is today because she likes to be comfortable and her family thinks she likes flowers.
The few women in her life come from the ostracized part of Hendrick's otherwise purist chasing family. Two aunts and a cousin called themselves the sisters three when she was little because they thought she struggled to remember their names. She called them her aunties instead much to their chagrins.
It was feared she would continue to lack focus and the ability to make connections until one day the concept of manners clicked for her. If it mattered to someone else she should feign that it did to her too, until it did enough to remember it.
