Physical Description: For her age, Severanche is rather small, almost petite, which makes her look younger than she actually is. She has clear blue eyes and black hair, that she often wears open to hide a pale blemish beneath her left ear.
Mental Description: Quiet and initially shy, Severanche needs her time to warm up to new persons around. But once she overcomes that, she can be a loyal and trustworthy friend, one that prefers to listen instead of taking action. She has a sharp, attentive mind and a fine, slightly sarcastic sense of humor. Curious and attentive, she has a good memory and often remembers the little details others tend to oversee.
Biography: Severanche grew up in a cottage not far from Inverness, in the green wilderness of the Scottish Highlands. She is the only child of Alistair and Elara Ballantyne, a wizard and witch that visited Hogwarts in the late 90s. After the war, they retreated, preferring the solitary and peaceful life in the Highlands.
Severanche grew up being used to magic, as her parents used it for the most mundane tasks around. But as her parents also instilled in her a strong sense of the dangers magic brings with it, especially when used for dark powers, she was always rather reluctant to try it out herself and never actually tried to violate the prohibition against minors practicing magic.
Since life in the Highlands was rather solitary, Severanche's best friend is her ginger cat Barnaby, a somewhat spoiled, slightly overweight but loving creature who always pretends to be braver and more experienced than he actually is. He is always a faithful companion, whether on forays through the meadows and woods around the cottage or curled up in her lap, purring contentedly as she reads to him from her books and strokes his tummy. As much as she looks forward to visiting Hogwarts, she knows she will miss her loyal companion - but she is aware that a cat like Barnaby belongs into the wilderness of the Highlands.
First Instance of Magic: Due to her parents' rather cautious upbringing, Severanche's first foray into magic was an accident. She was about seven years old and, annoyed by Barnaby's whining, tried to grab a tin of treats from the top shelf of the cupboard. The chair she climbed onto began to wobble, Barnaby's whining turned into a warning meow, and then she was already in free fall. She flung out her arms and, in a sudden burst of magic, not only broke her fall but also shattered a glass lantern that left her with bleeding wounds.
