Born to a pair of particularly nasty muggles, it was a great relief to Edwina to leave for Hogwarts. Edwina received straight-Os all the way through her stay, (save for Apparation, because Professor Mellowrose had it out for her.) As she refused to return home on breaks, they were either spent at Hogwarts itself or with friend's families. The only thing to pry her from her beloved school was her equally-beloved sport of Quidditch, which she played professionally for some years, first as backup seeker for the Chuddley Cannons, and later for England's own national team.
Edwina jumped at the rather unexpected offer to teach at Hogwarts - she had, after all, grown up there. Herbology never was her favorite class, but she did have something of a knack for it - (her house alone was covered in various magical plants of all varieties, which required quite a lot of enchanting to keep the muggles from noticing.)
A kind and forgiving person, Edwina is perhaps not the best choice in a professor, due to her general dislike of carrying out punishment (unless the person is particularly nasty, as she can be sometimes quite vengeful with such people, having endured such treatment in her earlier years.) She's the type to happily donate her free time to helping struggling students, to give out extra-credit assignments, and to keep herself from assigning too much homework .
Edwina is 5'8 (173cm), slim, and has dark brown hair that can only just reach her shoulders if let down. She's almost never seen without her red and yellow Gryffindor scarf, and usually wears plan black robes over basic muggle clothing. She has great reflexes and eyesight, and, due to her own quite mischievous past at Hogwarts, is very good at catching students who may be trying to cheat or otherwise cause problems.
Edwina is learned in all sorts of magic, both mainstream and obscure. She is particularly adept at dueling, an old school hobby of hers. As perhaps her crowning 'academic' achievement, Edwina is a registered Animagus, capable of transforming at will into a housecat (the details of which, of course depend on the clothing and accessories worn prior to transformation.)
Edwina's 'classroom' consists mostly of the greenhouses present on school grounds, but class is often taken away from them when possible, as she has something of a (probably undeserved) distaste for them. Her office, which doubles as her living quarters, is a room decorated with Gryffindor banners, quidditch flags, and many articles and pictures from games long-since played out. A desk and fireplace in the back are elevated above the rest of the space, which has barely more than a few tables and chairs placed around in mostly random areas. Nestled in the corner is what appears to be just a large red and gold blanket, which actually serves as a doorway to her sleeping quarters, which are decorated mostly the same as her office.
