Physical Description: Matisse has dark hair with a white chunk in the front, sapphire blue eyes, pale skin, and pierced earlobes. She has Waardenburg Syndrome which is why her eyes are very blue and she has a white forelock and was born deaf. She previously had cochlear implants in both ears. Upon her acceptance at Hogwarts, her family worked directly with mediwizards at St. Mungo's to remove the cochlear implants and get her fitted with magical hearing devices.

Mental Description:
Personality: Ambitious, clever, and obsessed with learning more about magic. She is generally kind, polite, and respectful but only to those who treat her the same way.
Hobbies: Matisse enjoys muggle video games, reading books of all kinds, doodling, and writing
Habits: Turns off her hearing devices if things are too loud or if she is being made fun of (out of years of habit from living with the cochlear implants) she doesn't talk a lot because she’s been teased for her speech struggles at muggle schools. She fiddles with her hair and chews the insides of her cheeks when anxious.
Mannerisms: Matisse has some trouble pronouncing words properly since she grew up completely deaf until receiving her cochlear implants. She still struggles with hearing if there is a lot of noise at once, telling the directions sound came from, and if she turns off her hearing devices she is still fully deaf in both ears. She relies heavily on reading lips to understand communication out of habit. She isn't shy exactly, but often keeps to herself just out of habit.
Likes: American food, muggle stuff, reading, learning, animals, art, science
Dislikes: Noisy places because she has to turn down or off her hearing devices or it's overwhelming, bullies, foods that smell weird
Phobias/Fears: spiders, losing other senses, her parents being killed because they're muggles, not being strong enough

Biography: Matisse’s parents are both muggle university professors. Her father is a professor of art and art history, and her mother is a chemistry professor. She is muggle born and lived in the United States before her mother accepted a position at a university in the UK and her father followed suit moving the family overseas when she was 8. She was named after her parents’ favorite artist. Despite being born in the US, she considers herself English now since her family have been working towards naturalization and have no plans to return to the US.

First Instance of Magic: The first instance of magic captured in the UK was when she was 8 years old. She was supposed to take the bus to school but missed it, worried about being late to her school, she started to run, and while running after it was somehow able to keep up with it despite its speed, until the next stop when she was able to get on.
