Laysa Stas Vaughan is a petite girl, standing only 4 feet 6 inches tall. She has long, slightly wavy black hair that falls smoothly down to her waist. A distinctive feature is that part of her hair on both sides of the nape is braided into a circular flower bracelet that sits atop her head. Her sapphire-colored eyes are striking and easily noticeable. She has a pale complexion—not the healthy, fair kind, but rather from not being exposed to sunlight often. A smile is almost always present on her lips, giving her the appearance of a well-behaved child.
Mental Description:
Laysa impresses others with her radiant personality and sweet voice. She is warm, approachable, and rarely appears cold or indifferent, even when hurt. Occasionally, she can be slightly irritable or annoyed when disturbed during her rest. She is thoughtful and attentive to small details, though sometimes she can be lazy and try to skip her parents’ lessons—only to be made to return after a few minutes.
She is easily moved to tears, often crying over things that touch her heart, or simply when she feels angry or frustrated without being able to voice it. Laysa has a dreamy and reflective nature. She often thinks about the future but rarely dwells on the wrongs others have done to her (unless she dislikes them). She was also among the brave children of her age, climbing trees to build a small hideout on its branches with a few Muggle children she knew. There was a time when her father (the youngest son of the Vaughans) argued with them because he wanted to live independently with his wife, another pure-blood witch. The Vaughans opposed this, fearing something dangerous might happen, such as being discovered by Muggles while accidentally performing magic. Eventually, her father did move out and adapted to a life among Muggles—of course, in a remote area, sparsely populated, with houses far apart to avoid detection when performing unusual things in the eyes of Muggles.
After Laysa displayed her magical ability on her sixth birthday, she was sent to her maternal home to be educated as a proper witch, in accordance with her bloodline. At age eleven, like other children, she received her Hogwarts acceptance letter.
First Instance of Magic:
From a young age, Laysa loved beauty and always took care of her appearance, especially her hair. One afternoon, at age five, while playing with a piece of wood and two flint stones, she accidentally singed a lock of her hair. Luckily, the fire was extinguished, but the hair had been shortened where the flames touched it.
At the time, the Vaughans had to stay overnight elsewhere due to a delicate matter, so she had to endure this from that afternoon until the next morning. She cried all night, wishing her hair would return to its original state without needing her parents’ spell, fearing she would be scolded. Strangely, the next morning, the burnt lock had restored itself completely, healthy and intact. This was the first time she displayed her magical ability.
The Vaughans soon discovered this through a magical portrait they kept at home (to ensure her safety) while they were away, so it wasn’t long before they knew. She was still scolded and given proper guidance afterward.
