Physical Description: Nico has curly dark hair that he sometimes grows out to be longer and messier, but usually keeps short enough that the curls are at least able to be tamed. He has brown eyes, which some would call boring, but he really likes because they suit him best. He often wears eyeliner to really emphasize them. He is relatively small, slender and short for his age, but he will end up at about 5'8" tall. He is in great shape, but he doesn't really have to try to maintain a good weight. Nico often wears clothes that aren't "gender-specific" and doesn't care what other people think about his clothing choices.
Mental Description: Nico is passionate about music and has been learning as much magic as he can to help him boost his musical abilities. He is cheerful and rarely has a frown on his face. He likes to make friends, but he isn't afraid to speak his mind when he needs to, defending himself and other people comes naturally to him.

Born in Venezuela, Nico was the second of two children and has an older sister. His parents divorced when he was seven and he doesn't have contact with his dad anymore because his dad was always yelling and belittling the family. Nico has been raised by his single mother since he was seven years old and is very close to his mom and older sister.
Growing up, Nico wasn't around magic. As far as he knows, his family is made up of Muggles and he is in the first generation to have magical ability. He is close to his older sister, though she graduated from Castelobruxo by his third year, as she had magic as well. He was bummed that she left him behind, but he was proud of her all the same.
From an early age, Nico started to develop his musical talent. He taught himself piano and guitar, though he started guitar around the same time he started attending school at Castelobruxo. He also explored his gender identity while at school, and came to the conclusion that he identifies as non-binary, though he uses he/they instead of just they/them because it is easier for other people. He doesn't mind being called he/him.
First Instance of Magic: When Nico was nine years old, he was practicing piano and working on a particularly difficult portion of the music. His hands were flying on the keys as he read the sheet music. He stumbled over the notes a few times and started over, growing more and more frustrated as he struggled with the music.
Finally, he started to get the hang of what he was doing and playing the music as well as he could. He wasn't perfect, but he wasn't the type to give up. He got to the end of the page he was playing and, before he could think about it, the page turned to the next sheet of music and he was able to continue playing. He didn't really think anything of this, assuming it was just a breeze blowing through a window, but this was his first instance of magic.
