Physical Description: She has short wavy bright red hair, usually parted on the side and falling in her face. She often dyes the front pieces and the underneath, and currently it is dyed a gorgeous greeny/teal color.
Mental Description: She can be very prone to mood swings, and although in general has a very sweet disposition, will also talk back and argue if you say the wrong thing or catch her in a bad moment. She struggles with control over her emotions, mostly.
Biography: Before Hogwarts, life was very boring. She found no real inspiration from anything aside from getting lost in the stories of magical lands she hoped perhaps one day she would see, if she was lucky. She was homeschooled her whole life, and joined a group of homeschoolers that wasn't particularly helpful to her. They weren't very good friends, and she has spent so long trying to find someone to understand her, she's starting to wonder if she ever truly will. A few months ago she found out that she is bisexual, and this also changed her perspective a bit. She realized that as a pureblood she hadn't had the chance to be anything truly different, and as soon as she realized she was allowed to stand out more and still be accepted, she began to figure out who she wanted to be. She still is, and will be for a while, but having cut and dyed her hair and accepted her sexuality makes her feel better, for the time being. When she noticed she felt better when she stopped being the same person she'd grown up as, she realized there might be more things she could change, too. She stopped hanging out with the same people, and that helped. She started actually doing things, not just reading about them, and that helped. She found out she liked baking, and sewing, and other artsy things!
First Instance of Magic: On one ordinary day, she was 9 years old, baking chocolate chip cookies. It had been a particularly annoying day, and she thought that cookies would help the whole mess immensely. (Her parents had gotten into an argument again.) For some reason, her mother had put the flour and sugar up on the very highest shelf in the kitchen, the one that Ember really couldn't reach without a stepstool... And it just so happened that today the stepstool was being used all the way upstairs, by her dad, who was climbing up and down clearing out the attic. She was annoyed, of course. She tries to do one nice thing on a day that needs it, and she can't even get the ingredients down to do it! She called for her mother, and then her father, to no avail. Finally, she decided to try it. With a huff she strained with all her might, pressing against the counter top, reaching up up up for the bag of flour. It had been a long day, she was worn out, angry at the world in a way only a passionate 9-year-old can be, and... she felt fed up with everyone, and everything. She only wanted to make cookies!!! Suddenly, she burst into tears, induced mostly by anger. Flour rained down on her head, the counter, the kitchen floor... She sunk to the ground, sobbing. Finally her mother came home from the store, and found her there, where she promptly sat right in the flour next to Ember, and talked to her about what happened. It was, Ember learned, the first instance of accidental magic, prompted by her strong anger and sadness, directed for a few minutes solely on that bag of flour. The bag had truly exploded from it, the shreds of paper clearly strewn around the kitchen. She was terrified for a while, but came to love the fact that she had made such an impact, with out even meaning to.
