PHYSIQUE

─────────────────────
Jane's volumous locks fall in gentle, long waves (almost straight, but not quite) that appear jet black from afar and in low light, transforming to a dark brunette under the natural gleam of the sun; highlighting the tender sharpness of her jawline. She has Korean-style wispy bangsβ€”which she on occasion lets loose before her neither broad or narrow foreheadβ€”that she generally tucks behind the curtain bangs framing her heart-shaped face; complexion a dewy porcelain with an almost impercpetiple, soft flush perching on her high cheekbones. Her eyebrows are neatly cut and straight, regularly maintained to perfection. A few warm freckles decorate the bridge of her sculpted, narrow nose, which then falls into a gently rounded nose tip. Glassy, grey-brown eyes grace her features, delicately almond in structure. Her lips are a soft rosewood pink, small, yet softly full and plush. Her neck is gracefully chiseled and swan-like, seemlessly blending into her defined collarbones. A mole sits above the left side of her upper lip, another on the edge of her right jaw.
Jane possesses a slender, 137 cm (4'6 ft) petite hourglass figure and weighs around 34 kg (75 lbs).

FASHION
─────────────────

Largely an influence from her parents, Jane’s fashion sense falls within the more β€˜classical’ category. The tones she wears are usually muted, their appearance consistently sophisticated and polished. Dresses and skirts are second nature. Her idea of casual clothes consists of loose (but not wide!) tailored trousers, a delicately knitted polo shirt and unembellished suede loafers; maybe a striped linen dress. As far as outerwear goes, her favour lies with trench coats, peacoats and duffle coatsβ€”including any other variations with that style group.
In general, she keeps her jewellery minimal and small(she’s pretty picky): pearl earrings, bracelets or necklaces; diamond studs and tennis bracelets are the bulk of her collection.
Perhaps the most lavish jewellery-like item among her belongings is her classic Swiss silver Rolex watch; a family heirloom passed down for over two generations on her mother’s side. And, of course, a pureblood signet ring she inherited (and is told to always wear) by simply being her father’s daughterβ€”a ring that has two other clones, one of each belonging to her parents. She is their only child, after all.
Cashmere scarves are her close companions in the autumn and winter months, along with cashmere or leather gloves and a cashmere beret.
Silver rimmed glasses are rumoured to be seen when Jane’s burying her nose in a book.

PERSONALITY/
MENTALITY

─────────────────

Jane Song navigates the world in silence, frequently going unnoticed at first. This isn't because she blends in, but rather because she prefers to observe rather than engage. She appears calm, courteous and difficult to readβ€” especially in crowded areas (although that is when she feels the most nervous). Her words are measured, her voice is gentle; she has a profound degree of self-control, specifically around those she doesn’t know well. Her air can easily be mistaken for being distant, but it's actually caution, a subdued form of self-defence brought on by neuroticism.
She dislikes being the centre of attention. Her stomach knots when she speaks in front of groups, but she listens to such an extent that she can recall details that others may ordinarily forgot. She has a depth that only persistant nagging can reveal. She's cautious, constantly assessing her position: whether it's safe to speak and whether the person on the other side is actually listening. She's not dismissive, but not quick to trust.
She rarely has a quiet mind. Thoughts flow like tangled, never-ending threads: fragments of conversations, hypothetical results, and things she wishes she had said differently. She does not react intensely in public yet obsesses in private. She’s all but mastered the art of hiding her present state of mind from strangers.
She exudes a softness that is meaningful without appearing weak. She has a keen sense of empathy, but she hides it behind drawn-out looks andΒ meticulously built sentencesβ€”for fear of being used. She processes, analyses and folds every feeling inside of her until she is sure of it.
Her silence is not indifference; it is precision. She waits until the moment is rightβ€”and even then, sometimes she lets it pass; her indecisiveness wins.
Perfectionist tendencies reap havoc on her worldviewβ€”more often than not in times of conflict or struggleβ€”affecting her level of self-control around others.
When Jane is with people she trusts, she changes to a great degree. She is still quiet but simultaneously more confident, warmer and more open. She can be funny in a way that may be surprising and she can even be charming in a…tranquil kind of way. But even then, there are many things she hides from those closest to her.

BRIEF HISTORY

─────────────────

Jane was born on 7th of May to Jaehyun and Monika Song, within a typical Pureblood manor on the outskirts Oxford. Her father, Jaehyun, is ethnically South Korean; he lived in said country until the age of eighteen, eventually moving to Switzerland where he met her Swiss motherβ€”Monikaβ€”a few years following.
Jane is their only child.
Her parents, both being quite intelligent (her father on the genius level) people, were thoroughly invested in her education.
She received round-the-clock tutoring from people who were regarded to be 'the greatest' in their respective academic fields; heaps of work and books were a constant in her life as a result of her tutors' quite stringent and rigorous beliefs about what they felt to be the ideal technique of study. This caused her to excel cognitively, possibly at a level above the norm for her age group at the time. Jane disliked studying at first, but eventually came to enjoy it. It virtually became an escape for her and as such is rarely seen without a book tucked under her arm. She was required to learn the native languages of both her parents (Swiss-German and Koreanβ€” specifically the Gyeonggi dialect/accent) along with Ancient Latin and obviously English.
Both Jane's parents are musical (her father a pianist, her mother a floutist), so another investment they made in her was violin lessons. Like her more academic subjects, she underwent rigorous training to reach the highest level of proficiency possible for her age.
Her parents are both very loving, despite unintentionally burdening Jane with what could be considered too many responsibilities from a young age.

FIRST INSTANCE OF MAGIC

─────────────────

When Jane was five, she unwittingly performed her first burst of magic whilst practicing the violin one afternoon; she had been tryingβ€”and faillingβ€”to master a more complex part of a Vivaldi concerto. Her fingers, which were usually very precise, kept slipping frantically. Her bowing grew tense and jerky, and her frustration swelled; building behind her eyes like pressure behind glass.

After the fifth consecutive error, something snappedβ€”thankfully not in the violinβ€”in the atmosphere surrounding her. The sheet music, fluttering like frightened birds, exploded into the air and lifted violently from the stand without a word. Her bow followed suit, flying across the room and settling itself with an odd grace into a nearby curtain. The stand clattered dramatically as it met the parquet flooring. The violin remained untouched in her lap, as if even magic knew better than to harm it.

Jane sat motionless, her heart hammering against her ribs and her breath caught. Mere moments later, her father entered to find the room in a flurry and his daughter seemingly frozen with shock, her eyes wide. He made no enquiries as to what exactly occurred. He only straightened the music stand and collected the sheets strewn across the floor, stealthily retrieving the bow and stroking her hair as he passed.
