Sybilla Harrow is a reserved, looking-in type of girl who'd sooner listen and observe than speak up. She prefers to be alone, not in groups, not because she dislikes them, but because being around large crowds unsettles her. She is a very thoughtful girl and will go out of her way to do things for people so as not to arouse disagreement or disappointment.

Sybilla is a dreamer and a thinker who prefers to cultivate magic plants or brew in silence. She is fastidious at work and enjoys routine and orderliness. Although she is not loud or outgoing, she is proud of doing things and has a pleasure in small, quiet things like drawing herbs or reading ancient books on potions.

She does have a problem with self-doubt, but she's determined to make her place at Hogwarts—no matter if it takes her a little longer to pipe up.

Sybilla is a gaunt and pale little girl with very dark brown hair, which is usually styled in a low braid or pulled back behind the ears. She has pale grey-green eyes, usually described as "cloudy" or "stormy," and blinks slowly when she's focusing. She stands 4'8" (142 cm) tall, which is a bit short for her age, and creeps up on people very quietly, usually startling them unintentionally.

Her style is humble and retro. She prefers muted colours like grey, green, or brown, and she dresses at all times in clean, well-groomed clothes. Out of uniform, she might wear baggy knit sweaters or frayed, hand-me-downs from distant relatives. She will always have something of a notebook and a pressed leaf or flower jammed between its pages. She has a plain and unblemished face, no piercings, scars, or other marks—only a general demeanor of studious quietness.

Sybilla was born to a quiet, respectable, pure-blood family in Wiltshire, Mere. The Harrows are famous for their magical medicine and research on potion-making, and composure and discretion in everything are prized by them. Childhood was strict and sedate, with magical gardens, old books, and soft voices surrounding her.

She spent her childhood in Wyrmwood Hall, a large family manor house, which had been protected by centuries of dormant magic. Her parents, Castor and Elenora Harrow, are also working on magical studies. Not unkind, but extremely formal and not very demonstrative, they encouraged Sybilla as a child to be polite and to be quiet.

She was provided with proper magical education, studying from home tutors and receiving age-dependent lessons in reading, writing, and mathematics. She has very little knowledge about the Muggle world, and it is never mentioned in her home. Her brother Thorne is older and attends Hogwarts as well, and she hopes secretly to impress him, although they are not great friends.

Sybilla's first use of magic was recorded at the age of six. She had been helping her governess trim flowers in the greenhouse at Harrow when, accidentally, she cut at a rare shrub whose stinging thorns were famous for being unmanageable. She leapt back in terror, but the thorns, rather than pricking her, retracted with a sharp snap—the first time this had ever happened.

Startled but undamaged, she accepted the event in confidence, believing that it was an accident. Her family, however, interpreted it as clear proof of accidental wandless magic. They asked their wizarding tutor to begin her official magical training not long after. The event happened in Wiltshire, England.
