Appearance: Clément is a skinny boy of average height, with uncombed, messy blond hair and distant-looking copper brown eyes. He has a pale skin, with a hint of freckles across his face.
Personality: Before his father's early death, Clément was an outgoing little boy, sunshine radiating through him. He laughed at his father's jokes, ran in the grass and chased after the cats. However, he entirely changed after his father passed away. He became cold and distant, shoulders drooped and head down. To a stranger, he might even appear irritable and annoyed for no specific reason. The only times his past self would show, was when he was playing cello.
Things began to take a turn for the better after his reconciliation with his mother in the summer of 2024.
History:
Clément was born on the 7th of October 2012, on a foggy night, to Maléane Villedarie and Guillaume Cantegrel.

His father, Guillaume, was a professional cellist who often travelled with a famous orchestra in different places around the world to perform. Clément, little though he was, always travelled with his father, and therefore music became a big part of his life as well.

Just before his second birthday, however, Clément's parents divorced. Maléane, his mother, did not support the frequent travels of his father, "You are a man who has a family, Guillaume! In your life, you don't only have cello and music, you have me, me and Clément and a home! I will not support it if you are barely home one or two days, and then you have to go on tours for months again!" Maléane had wanted Clément to stay with her, but the little boy would not leave his beloved father.

Growing up with his father, Clément was taught the art of cello at the early age of three, and gave his first solo performance at barely seven years old.

Unfortunately, Guillaume died just after the boy's ninth birthday, and so the boy went back to his mother, who was now married to another man. Deep inside her heart, Maléane loved her son dearly, but after the years of separation, an invisible shield was placed between them. After the death of his father, the little boy became very sad, and no trace of his old, extroverted self remained. His mother long gave up trying to approach her son, due to the many times she was rejected with impatience and irritation.

Another meaningful person in the boy's life was his cello teacher, Mr. Gérard, Clément like to call him affectionately. He had been a close friend of Clément's father, and perhaps that was why Clément put a large portion of trust on him.

Mr. Gérard was a rather short man, with a bushy grey beard and puffy cheeks whenever he grinned- that was, very often. During the summer vacations, he'd come to Clément's house twice a week and teach him cello. The cello teacher also grieved of his old friend's death, so he put more care and affection in Clément than he ever did with his other students. In return, Clément always looked forward to his teacher's visit, and although the boy never talked much during the lessons, the bond between them was obvious.
Through the Years
1st Year

Clément wasn't sure how he felt like attending Beauxbatons. It was certainly a change to the monotone and depressive life he was leading back home - but would the change be positive? He was unsure of this new start, and was, though he would not admit, embarrassed to face all those other bright young faces who had lived happy childhoods. Clément was not shy, but the long period of confinement he took from the world made him reluctant to finally re-enter the society.
The boy arrived at the french wizarding school, putting a cold and emotionless mask over his facial features to dissimulate his awkwardness and ill ease. He never approached anyone, and when he was talked to his answer would always be short and flat - he sometimes didn't answer at all. That's how a few months into the school year, he still had not made a single friends. Sometimes, a kind soul would notice his depressive manner and gently ask whether he was alright. Not wanting anyone to pity him, Clément would answer, appearing hot-tempered and rude. As time went by, nobody talked to him anymore due to his impolite manners, and though he might no have shown it, Clément was heavily disturbed and hurt. He wanted to change, to tell people the truth and seek friendship and help, but he did not find the courage to do so.
The school year passed as such, miserably for the hopeless boy.

At the surprise of his classmates and teachers, Clément returned to Beauxbatons in September 2024 more smiling and happy than they ever saw him. Of course, it was nothing compared to who he had been when he was just a toddler, but a little bit of the joyfulness and carefreeness of the past Clément was soaking through into the present Clément.
The change was from an amelioration in his relationship with his mother. She had prepared a vacation for both of them in the south of France, by the Mediterranean Sea, over the course of the summer vacations. She had taken a break from work and had rented a little house just by the seashore. Clément tried to hide his eagerness from his mother, as he had not showed the slightest smile to her for over two years. After barely two days after the mother and son's departure, Clément could not hold it anymore. He wanted to enjoy himself and to replace the frown with the smile on his face, and he knew that by taking him out for vacations, his mother was offering him an opportunity to forget the past and embrace the future. He was tired of being grumpy to everyone and anyone, tired of being pitied and tired of himself, really.
Clément gave up on his cold and distant solitude, thrust open the door of his mental prison, and that memorable night he hugged his mother tightly - something he hadn't done for he didn't know how many years.
The process of embracing life and his family took a few weeks - at first it was awkward, but with the encouragement and support of his cello teacher, mother and step-father, he stepped out from the invisible cage that he had locked himself in for the last few years.
During the school year, he participated in the Autumn Ball at Hogwarts - and witnessed the horrible accident at Hogsmeade. Fortunately, he managed to emerge alive, with only a few scrapes and burns, and though a grim expression found its way on his face following the tragedy it was quickly wiped away with the amazing events Hogwarts had to offer.

First Instance of Magic: Clément had always felt music was like magic. Except this time it was real.
As he was playing a favourite piece of his and immersing himself in the music, notes began detaching themselves from his music sheet and flew into the air to surround the boy in a graceful whirl of dancing and prancing notes.
Clément, astonished, dropped his bow and as the music abruptly stopped, the notes returned quietly to their respective places on the music sheet.
Clément had been eight years old.
