First Instance of Magic: Ari was turning ten, and her parents had promised they’d be at her birthday party. But they never came. When they finally walked into her room hours later, she was furious. “You said you’d be there! You promised!” she yelled, tears in her eyes. As the anger built in her chest, the objects in her room suddenly began to float; books, pillows, even her lamp spinning slowly in the air. Her parents froze, staring at the chaos around them.
