Sergei is a guarded boy, always wary of those around him. He keeps everyone at arm's length and stays quiet unless spoken to. While he's now attempting to tame his temper, his efforts don't hold up if he's prodded too much. Much like a bear, he should not be poked. Aside from this, he's logical, brittle, and has quite a mastery over sarcasm when he wants to retaliate without causing actual harm to those who may irritate him.

Some may describe him as a delinquent or even as scary, which are both understandable, thanks to how he holds himself. Now, an incorrect description of him is that he's stupid. Some may draw that conclusion due to how he acts in class, rarely participating unless made to, and seeming to completely ignore any paperwork he's given. In reality, he's incredibly studious, trying his best with any work he's given; he just prefers to do it alone, away from his peers. After all, it's hard to focus on your work when you're constantly watching your back, and when you're viewing your peers as possible threats.

Below all this, he's simply a scared kid, not dissimilar to a stray dog trying to snap at any hands that reach for it, whether those hands bring harm or bring healing. With such a turbulent background, it's no wonder the boy has gained some asocial behaviours.

Biography:

Born in Russia to a struggling single mom, he was sent into foster care when he was five. From then on, he bounced between families, unable to form any true bonds due to his troubled origins. Once he and his brother were separated thanks to the system, he spiralled down, becoming asocial, paranoid, and abrasive. He caused trouble with his peers very commonly in school, leading him towards a path of social isolation.

As the country grew too unstable, his Aunt insisted on him being sent to England alongside his brother, so he could have a better chance at stability. While she meant well and it did help slightly with his physical safety, at least, the massive change shook him, driving him further from chances to build healthy relationships. Despising staying within the houses of his various guardians, the boy took to the streets with excuses of meeting friends. In reality, he was just seeking an escape from the stress that home life constantly brought him. Soon, this all culminated in his first instance of magic, which swept him up into yet another world. Suddenly, he was in the same system as before, but now magic had become a part of his world.

First Instance of Magic:

He was eight when it happened, after having a run-in with some older teens who immediately met him with hostility in an alleyway. After his attempt to defend himself only made them angrier, he was pinned to the wall, earning his scar on his face from the edge of their blade. Naturally, this triggered an immense, fearful, and pained reaction, stirring something in him that manifested in the form of a flame suddenly eating at the sleeve of his attacker's sweater. Amidst the panic, the nearby pedestrians who hadn't seen the initial attack due to it being in an alleyway were alerted. After beating away the flame, Sergei told one adult what happened, prompting one of the men helping to keep the boys from running while another called the police.

A month later, some wizards visited, and he was transferred to wizarding foster care to ensure the Statute of Secrecy was upheld. He was set up with a long-term foster home, which he certainly wasn't used to, and told he'd be remaining with them for five years to ease him into his new magic-filled reality.
