Despite having a good memory, she worries about forgetting things and doodles notes anywhere and everywhere - on schoolbooks, scraps of parchment, and even her hands if she doesn't have anything else on hand. She has boundless curiosity and relentless determination when she sets her mind to something. This has led her to be occasionally reckless, although her goal isn't to be make trouble. She has a naturally cheerful disposition, usually brushing herself off quickly if things don't work out the way she hoped. She feels somewhat insecure about her magical abilities manifesting late and fears she might not be "magical enough". She has a strong desire to be liked, which causes her to sometimes overcompensate by being too enthusiastic and hyper. She has a predilection for potions, likely the result of having scientific minded parents, and has a collection of random potion ingredients all over her room in little jars or pouches.
Biography: Haley grew up with her mother and father in Richmond. She has a brother, who is two years younger than her, named Hayden. Her mother Emma is muggle-born. She is a scientist currently working in pharmaceuticals. She values education and therefore insisted that Haley attend primary school to learn "properly". Her father Richard is a wizard and attended Hogwarts. He is employed by the Ministry of Magic. He specializes in Potions and currently works for the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes.
First Instance of Magic: Haley spent her days in primary school, wondering if she would get to go to Hogwarts like her father, or if this was going to be her permanent life. She often felt internally conflicted. Although she did not dislike her current circumstances, she did feel a longing for a deeper connection with her father through magic. This turmoil was exacerbated by the fact that she never displayed any magical talent as a young child. It wasn't until she was nine years old that her first instance of magic occurred. She was sent home to do a science project for the science fair. As it was one of her favorite subjects, Haley wanted to do something unique, but her mother more-or-less insisted that she do a simple volcano project. They had built the base for the "volcano" and her mother told her to wait while she gathered the rest of the needed supplies. Haley grew impatient, already frustrated with doing this cliché project. Why couldn't she use some of her father's potions supplies? Of course, she knew that magic needed to be kept secret, but then why not go to her mother's lab and do something really crazy? As she stared at the inactive volcano lump, she angrily wished she could make it erupt fireworks. Before she could blink, the volcano began to tremble, gently vibrating on the table. A plume of thick, shimmering smoke emerged from the volcano opening, immediately followed by an upward explosion of sparks shifting between hues of violet, green, and blue. Her mother furiously stormed back into the room, demanding to know what Haley was doing to create such a ruckus. Eyes wide, her mother grew still as she realized the inevitable had finally happened. As the initial fear and shock faded, Haley realized the significance of what just transpired. The science project didn't matter anymore. She was in fact a witch and she was in fact going to get to go to Hogwarts.
