One of my aims as staff is to foster and build connections with student (and staff) characters! There are several ways to involve your character with the nurse:

• You want a basic, short interaction with the nurse to establish a relationship between your character and the nurse.
• You want to RP in the hospital wing, but your character does not need serious medical care.
• You want to RP in the hospital wing and your character needs serious medical care.

For short, basic interactions I recommend:

• Visiting the nurse at her desk. By posting here <LINK PENDING> you can have your character visit the nurse at her desk. There are many reasons why your character may want to visit the nurse's office, but here are some you could consider:
  • Your character has a minor (medical) issue or question they want help with (think minor headaches, sleeping issues, homesickness)
  • Your character needs a confidant (your character has an issue with another (NPC) student or a member of staff and wants to confide in the nurse to help resolve the issue)
  • You want to become a nurse intern and you want to RP your application with the nurse.
  • Your character needs regular medication (like wolfsbane) and you want to RP an interaction where your character gets their medication from the nurse.
  • In general, visits to the office should be for minor issues and short interactions that you would assume to require no more than three replies at most from me, preferably fewer. Anything that warrants an interaction with the nurse but does not warrant a full, standalone thread.
• Write an IC (in-character) letter to the nurse. The forum for letters is here/ If you do this, please owl me to point me to your letter so I can make sure that Bessie replies. The advantage of writing an IC letter is that I currently don't have a queue for this and since it's not the office, you also wouldn't have to wait for someone else to finish their interaction with me first. Sending a letter is a good way to start a basic relationship with the nurse.

Please check the list of nurse interns here and try to reach out to one of them first. The nurse interns are student characters who have expressed interest in helping the nurse run the infirmary and are able to provide basic care.


If you want an involved interaction with the nurse (a full thread), owl me first! Please write out what your plans are, why your character needs the nurse and what you hope to get out of the thread. Generally speaking, though there can be exceptions, full threads are intended for more serious (medical) issues. However, it is also possible that the thread is not strictly medical in nature and your character just needs a member of school staff to help them.

Expectations:

• It is possible that I will refer you to a nurse intern if your character does not have a pressing/urgent medical need and/or I am too busy to provide you a thread at the time.
• If you haven't had any prior interaction with the nurse first, please don't hit me with your mega 3-thread long ultra involved plan that will span two IRL school years.
• Keep the site rating in mind when approaching me for threads. Yes, things can be bloody and messy to an extent. Yes this is a school full of hormonal kids going through all kinds of bodily changes. However, just like how you don't write about what your character does on the loo in great detail, we cannot RP about specific body part changes that your student character may be experiencing. Some degree of veiled or implicit statements that fall within site rating is OK, but the focus of interactions with the nurse is always along the lines of emotional support and pain relief first.

I will run up to 3 of these 'moderated' threads at any one time. Please keep in mind that I am only human and have other staff responsibilities outside of providing RP opportunities, so speedy replies are not a given. You can see the status of moderated threads below.
