๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐๐ || Esther, "Essa," has a doll-like appearance with a heart-shaped face, rosy cheeks, and full, downturned lips. These distinct traits are inherited from her father's side, and many townsfolk compare her to her paternal grandmother. Essa's large grey, protruding eyes, and thick, straight eyebrows are a mixture of her father and mother and are the key traits of the Geddings' children. Her button nose is entirely her mother's, making her the third of thirteen children not to inherit their father's strong Roman nose. Essa was born with hair the color of wheat, but now that she's getting older, her roots have taken on a dark, mousy brown. This fading can visibly be seen in her long, wavy hair, with the bottom being pale and midway fading into brown. When let down, her hair reaches her lower back, just above her buttocks, but it's typically tied back into a messy ponytail.
At 11 years old, Essa is tall for her age, standing at 158 cm and very lithe. She has yet to grow into her body, so her arms and legs appear too long for her and were the target of her older siblings' mischief. Essa is nimble and athletic, reflected in the muscles in her calves and arms.
๐๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ || Esther's personality is created and fortified by her surroundings. Her core traits are stubbornness, independence, cleverness, and brightness. As the youngest of thirteen children, she had to grow a thick skin and a backbone. Even if they have a good relationship, fights, and bullying are inevitable with so many children. Essa never liked feeling like a defenseless victim, so she learned to have a sharp tongue, not cave into their pressure, and do things her way stubbornly. Later on, when it was discovered that Essa was potentially a witch, her life became a little more lonely. Her siblings didn't want to spend as much time with her as they once did, so Esther was left to have her adventures, solidifying her independent nature. The young witch didn't let this bring her down and kept an optimistic mindset. At least she could choose what she wanted to do when she wanted to do it. Her recent years were filled with quietly exploring the world around her and sketching it. This time shared between only her and the nature around her became the seeds of a curious, scientific mind.
๐๐๐๐ค๐ ๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ || Essa is the youngest of thirteen children and the only witch born to both of her parents' bloodlines (although there were rumors that her mother's bloodline had once been mixed with Fae). Before this discovery, Essa's life was as mundane as it gets for a child growing up on the rocky coast of Wales. Her Summers were spent with her siblings, climbing the rocky shores, fishing, loitering on the docks, and exploring nearby flower fields. In the Winter, she played in the snow with her siblings, stayed close to her Nain, and attended school.
When Essa was nine, those around her began to see her differently. Essa and a few of her siblings were playing at the bottom of an ocean cliffside, searching for shellfish. The peace was broken when her older siblings began teasing her for her awkward movements. Soon, the nearby shearwaters swarmed them and swooped down to pull their hair. The children were disbursed, but after that, her family and town looked at her with new eyes. The youngest child of the Geddings' wasn't just a curious awkward thing, she could call birds down from the sky to attack people. Although the story got warped as it traveled from mouth to mouth, one thing was certain: Essa had magic.
