Shay stands tall, even though at 5'4". Her russet-coloured hair falls right at her shoulders, most times in waves. Her eyes are a deep forest green after a refreshing rain. Her hips are accentuated with a dark belt, cocked up on one hip, and a small medicine back latched on the other. She was abandoned in the United States as a young child with a band of Native Americans but when she was shipped back home to England to live with her aunt the only thing she could pick up from the culture was the accent. She kept her late night habits, her odd mannerisms, her love of nature, and many other things. During one rainy summer day, Shay lost it at her aunt, for not letting her go out with her friends. Aunt Cassie said something about a serious talk that they needed to have before school started. Shay blew her off and left anyways. Her Aunt had a soft tone that Shay didn't respond well with and there was still a lot of underline anger from pulling her away from her adoptive family.
So she was trudging through the fields into the woods. When she walked in the tree line, she began to sprint. She dodged trees and jumped over fallen limbs until she was in a clearing. Shay then collapsed to the ground and looked up at the trees and sky. She was breathing heavily and she smiled as she sprawled out on the damp ground.
Here, she was at home.
Then an odd feeling over took her... she felt the hairs on her arms raise and her body tensed as she pushed herself up on her knees to look around. Slowly she lifted herself up to her feet and she furrowed her eyebrows as her surroundings started spinning. She felt lightheaded so she closed her eyes. Then she could feel it spinning faster and faster. She lost footing but didn't connect with the ground. She didn't dare open her eyes. All the sudden, it stopped and she was weightless for a split second. As soon as she opened her eyes to peek at her surroundings, she dropped to the ground. A groan set loose from her lips as she pulled herself up once again. That's when she saw the cabin. She tilted her head a bit as she looked at it. There was a glow coming from the windows and a smell that smelled so familiar... cookies? She remembered this... dream. This dream she had since she was a child. But this was real. Shay forced her legs to move towards the cabin and she went to the door. As soon as she set foot on the porch, the door opened to reveal an older woman. She had some of the features Shay had. Her hair was more red than Shay's and had streaks of grey in it. Her eyes were a dark chestnut brown with speckles of green. But what caught Shay's attention was how those eyes looked at her.
"My daughter..." the woman said with a bright smile before pulling Shay into a tight embrace, "how I've missed you. I'm sorry I've only gotten in touch with you through your slumber, my dear."
"Mum..." Shay said softly as she gently pressed herself out of the hug, holding the woman at a distance in case she wanted to squeeze the life out of her again. "What's happening? H-how...?"
"Magic, my dear. You are apart of a powerful family. We have been in hiding and now it's time to start your training. Come inside, dear," she said and stepped inside.
Shay hesitantly stepped into the cabin not knowing she was also stepping into a completely new life.
