James is average height, has messy brown hair, blue eyes, and a semi- muscular build.

His personality is great, he’s nice, loyal, and pretty funny to some. He is fairly ambitious, but does have the “I’ll do it tomorrow” mentality when he’s not in the mood for something. He can make friends quicker than you can say Quidditch.

James is half blooded, so most things magical seem natural to him. He’s a resident of Ulster, Ireland, and has a dog named Buddy. As well as parents named David, his father, (Wizard born) and Emma, his mother. (Muggle born). Since he was ten, he had been living “calmly”. (Rather that’s what he tells anyone who asks.) You see, when he was 10, he had an encounter with a Acromantula. (a large spider with a certain liking for humans) And some how lived to tell the tale in his upcoming first year at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Hence the tale…

one cloudy day in the north side of Ireland, a ten
year-old James Melville went out to the east of his home into a dim lighted forest with his book, Hogwarts, a History. James had been very excited for his upcoming first year at Hogwarts in a couple of weeks. He had been eager to go into the forest east of his house ever since his younger years, but has never been able to due to parental disapproval. But James’ parents have seen him in a new light as a ten year old. They see to it that he has a bit of independence. Of course, going into the forest was still a huge no, but having this sense of freedom allowed him to be a little more… mischievous with nobody keeping an annoyingly close eye on him. So he was ready. A couple of bread crumbs for whatever creature he sees, his jacket, and his book. He wanted to go in not to just explore, but to read about the history of the school he’d be going to soon. So off he went. it was late afternoon, and the sun was nearly done dipping into the horizon. James was not tired a bit and found a nearby stump surrounded by walking mushrooms and leaves dripping with glowing liquids that he wouldn’t dare to drink. So there he sat, he read and read, for hours on top of hours. He wonders if the book would ever end. Then, a sound. That turned into 4 sounds, that turned into 7 sounds, and before he knew it, right behind him there were multiple little spiders running across the floor. But they all seemed to ignore him. He thought he was in the clear, and started the next line of his book. another thirty minutes passed by and James was slowly dozing off. But he didn’t need to worry. The loud thumps behind him woke him straight up. James slowly turned himself around, and there it was. The Acromantula. He whispered under his cold breath, “this is why I wasn’t allowed to come back here.” and then he bolted back in the direction of his home. The spider was incredibly fast for something of its size, and the narrow turns were the only thing keeping it from having James as a nighttime snack. But all of a sudden, it was a strait path. The spider was now catching up, and James knew he wouldn’t make it to his home on time. So as a last ditch effort, he stopped, turned around, and stuck is hand out. He thought whatever was coming of of the palm of his hand was blood, but as he opened his eyes, a large, red beam was in headshot of the Acromantula. Then with a loud thump, the great beast breathed its last breath. James, mystified and horrified at the same time, ran quickly into his house, washed off, and went to bed.

He hasn’t told anyone about this yet, but then the idea struck. He could tell people at Hogwarts about what had happened. He’d be someone’s friend by day one.

Until then…
