Physical Description: Niall has blonde hair, hazel eyes and fair coloured skin. With a scrawny build he tends to hunch his shoulders when he walks making him appear shorter than he actually is. His preferred outfit choices are a typical set of dark jeans, lightly coloured t-shirts (sometimes collared shirts) accompanied by a woolen sweater or a coat depending on the weather and wears a set of black rimmed eyeglasses.
Mental Description: Niall developed an interest in learning how to properly treat wildlife, mainly animals such as dogs, cats and other small animals desiring to become a Magizoologist (Zoologist originally). Due to this interest he has grown meticulous in nature often feeling the need to not so tactfully tell people how they should tend to their pets which although well-meaning can come across as blunt, dismissive and a blabbermouth. This is all due to a lack of friends or peers in his life.
Biography: Niall Quirke grew up in Wexford, Ireland, during his early childhood development he was heavily influenced by his parents’ busy work life. His father, Rowan is an IT specialist, contracted to work in muggle schools to assist with cybersecurity or repair and maintain the computer systems, as well as helping the faculty with their electronic devices.
Nialls mother, Bridget, runs a small veterinary clinic where she tends to most of the neighbourhood's pets and local fauna that need assistance. Due to his parents workaholic lifestyle, Niall learned to be independent and observant, learning or at the very least understanding what his parents did for a living such as understanding the needs of the animals in his mothers or simply the importance of being handy like his father.
These influences on Niall have made him develop an obsession to make himself useful, considering that sitting around and doing nothing was otherwise a big waste of time often leaving him guilty about it should it happen. However beyond his involvement with his parents, Niall loved to wander around, often exploring his neighbourhood on his own, or finding himself in the park bird watching as part of a hobby he developed for himself where he would take notes of each bird he saw, and how one would tend to it should it get hurt or lost. Most of his activities are often solo experiences leading to a lack of friends or peers in his life feeling the need to do things himself and thinking that people slow him down.
First Instance of Magic Niall’s first instance of magic came to be one day while he was wandering the local park during his favourite pastime, birdwatching. He found himself sitting on a park bench resting after a bit of a tiring walk, he took the time to observe his surroundings using a pair of old binoculars that were found in his attic to look around for avian wildlife. Spying through the lens, he managed to spot a bird's nest containing a family of Kestrels, high up in a tree overlooking a busy street. Whilst observing these fascinating birds and making notes of their features to write down later he spots one of the smaller kestrels, a chick struggling to find its feet in the nest, teetering along the edge while its mother was tending to the others.
A bit nervous for the chick it was in that split second that part of the nest broke off with it falling towards the busy street. Having grown accustomed to talking to himself as a way to better process his thoughts quickly Niall simply whispered “No, don’t hit the road you’ll get hurt” in that instance, to his astonishment the little birds fall slowed down and halted in midair, its little underdeveloped wings flapping as it appeared just as confused as Niall. With a confused sigh of relief, Niall simply peered up from the bird towards the nest the bird fell from with his binoculars, desiring it to get to safety it levitated upwards back into the nest and within its mothers grasp.
This entire experience left Niall puzzled, chalking up this weird set of circumstances as the wind though a strange feeling in the back of his mind kept telling him that it was something else entirely feeling that it was his influence that got the bird to safety.
His questions about those actions that day were finally answered when a letter from Hogwarts arrived, although it came as a shock to him and both his parents it answered his question as to why the bird was saved that day.
