First Instance of Magic: Oh, you want to know about the first time I did magic? Well, I'd always heard about children who first showed signs of magic when they were feeling big emotions. But mine wasn't like that, it was just so ... strange, in a beautiful kind of way.
So, I was, like 4 years old and it was this really rainy day. I was playing my cello, like I do every day. But on this day, I tried to play a melody that I'd heard my Mum humming. It sounded sad but it was very beautiful and I wanted to capture it in my playing. I think I got it pretty accurate but the actual melody wasn't very long and I soon found myself improvising. I got really into it and I was only paying attention to how the music felt and the way the bow moved across the strings.
Then, all of a sudden, the rooms started feeling different - warm and kind of tingly, like it does near a fire. I though, that's odd, because it was still raining and the window was ajar. But I kept playing, and right then a glow started to fill the room. At first I thought it was a reflection from the rain or something, I'm not really sure. But the glow got brighter and little bit of light started to dance around me, kind of like fireflies. They were quite obviously dancing with the music.
I couldn't believe it, my first sign of magic. I kept playing but the lights started to waver the glow dulled and I was left in the room as if nothing happened. I tried to get the glow back but I couldn't. Not unless I was truly feeling the music and I often missed it until it was vanishing again.
